Tina - check out Sheila`s message 87436 to another member. I think NAX should

be commenced slowly, i.e. 1 with breakfast for a week, then 1 at breakfast and 1

with lunch for a week, then 2 with breakfast and 1 with lunch etc (this is what

Dr. Peatfield told me). But I think you can commence your Erfa at the end of

the first week on day 8. I know you must take NAX with food.

I`m hoping someone more experienced will confirm this as I`m not too sure about

starting the Erfa - I think it has to be started quite slowly - you will still

have the Levo in your system for a few weeks. I`m not on Erfa myself but from

what I`ve read it needs to be done quite gradually. One of the others should

advise you how much to start with and when to take it. You`ll need to let them

know how much Levo you have been on.

Hi Tina, start by taking 1 tablet with your breakfast for 7 days

after stopping your levothyroxine. On the 8th day, add in your half grain

(30mgs) of Erfa 'Thyroid' (NDT). On that day, add another Nutri Adrenal Extra

with your lunch. Never take after 1.00p.m. in case you are kept awake at night.

After another 7 days, increase your dose of NDT by another

30mgs. and stay on that dose for 3 to 4 weeks when you can increase your dose

again by another 30mgs if you have had no adverse reactions. At that time, add

another NAX with your breakfast. Often people do fine on 2 to 3 NAX, but others

who have very low adrenal reserve may need up to 6 tablets, but if more than 6

are required, this is an indication you may need some hydrocortisone, but this

is not usually the case.

Go to Dr Rind's web site and follow his instructions about

taking your temperature three times daily and keeping a graph. This will help

you see how your adrenal repair is progressing http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph

Good luck

Luv - Sheila

Hi all,

I plan to stop taking my levo and start taking NAX before Erfa but I'm not sure

how much NAX to take daily. Is 7-10 days sufficient before starting Erfa? Also,

when is the best time to take it?

Thanks

Tina.

Thankyou Jane and Sheila, sorry I should have said I take 125mcg levo daily(was

100mcg up untill 2 weeks ago when my TSH=10)

I worked out that I should be on 1grain(60mg) plus a quarter.

Should I then start out taking 1/4 and follow your instructions Sheila?

Sorry for the confusion,

Tina.
