Guest guest
Hi and thank you for replying to my post about my adrenals fatigue that has resurfaced after being really quite well for the past couple of years. In answer to your queries, I'm not sure what hormonal deficiencies that I may have. I havn't done the hertoghe questionnaire yet, but I will. As I said, I was feeling pretty well and then I experienced a traumatic incident which I have now been told that I am experiencing post traumatic stress from ......... I started treatemnt for this three weeks ago (which is helping). I have then had a flu like virus and I think the combo of the two things has given my adrenals a real hammering. I have just gone back on my adrenal friendly diet but it's probably too soon to see any effects from that yet. Supplement wise I currently take 2000mg vit c throughtout the day, B12 Complex(250mcg B12, 20mg B2, 20mg B120mg B6), 200ug selenium, 15mg zinc and about 4000iu of D3 a day. I am currently on40 mcg of T3 a day split into 4 doses starting at 6.30 am and then every four hours. I take five NA which I have done for years which I take at 10am. I'm wondering, maybe my thyroid is supported well now on the T3 and I'm overdoing it with the NA ? I was always lead to believe that when you are on T3, that you need to take plenty of adrenal support ? As far as the Isocort goes, another forum member has told me that it's been reformulated as is now not really doing anything..... it's a shame as it really helped me before. I may need to take HC but I have no idea how to go about this. My endo says that it's a total no-no so I'm not going to get any help there. My last blood tests results were; TSH 1.72 (0.3-3.94)FT4 0.3 (12.3-20.2)FT3 2.1 (3.7-6.7) Low T3 huh ? But my endo flatly refuses to raise my dose and keeps looking at my TSH and all that old rubbish. And actually, I feel ok on my dose, I tried to raise it myself to 50mcg and I felt very hyper. I'm pretty sure its my adrenals. My most annoying and dibiltating symptom right now is full-on hot flushes every half hour that are so intense that I can barely function ! I've had these since I had the fluey virus. Sorry, I've really made a long post but I'm desperate. I have two kids, one with difficulties and I HAVE to work and run the home and right now I'm feeling very low and desperate, despite being a pretty tough cookie. Any advice is most, most welcome, julia

I havn't done the hertoghe questionnaire yet, but I will. Please do do this, it might help. Hot flushes might be sex hormones? If you have low thyroid, and low adrenals, you may have other imbalances. 0 = No/Never | 1 = Not Much/Sometimes | 2 = In Moderation/Regularly 3 = A Lot/Often | 4 = Tremendously/Constantly (from http://x.saravanan.org/HormoneBook) ACTH I have patches of hair loss I have very pale complexion I sunburn easily I often have memory loss I am stressed out/I'm facing many difficulties My blood pressure has dropped My friends tell me I look thinner Aldosterone I uninate too many times a day I crave salty foods My blood pressure is low I feel dizzy when I stand up I feel much better lying down than standing up Calcitocin I have compression fractures in my spine I've lost weight My back hurts I'm very sensitive to pain I have thyroid problems (goiter, thyroid insufficiency, radiation applied to this area) Cortisol My face looks thinner My friends call me skinny I have eczema, psoriasis, urticaria (nettle rash), skin allergies, or other rashes My heart beats quickly My blood pressure is low I crave salt and sugar (to the extent of binging) I have digestive problem I have allergies (hay fever, asthma, etc.) I'm stressed out I'm easily confused DHEA My hair is dry My skin and eyes are dry My muscle are flabby My belly is getting fat I don't have much hair under my arm (0 = plenty of hair/4=hairless) I don't have much hair in pubic area (0 = plenty of hair/4 = hairless) I don't have much fatty tissue in the pubic area (flat " mount of venus " in women) (0=padded/4=flat) My body doesn't have much of special scent during sexual arousal I can't tolerate noise My libido is low EPO I have a particularly pale complexion Prolonged physical effort leaves me breathless I'm anemic (diagnosed with a blood test) " A sense of well being " What is that? I started treatemnt for this three weeks ago (which is helping). I read that EMDR can be good for helping with post traumatic stress, and so can the 'rewind technique' from human givens therapy, and also EFT/tapping? > I have just gone back on my adrenal friendly diet but it's probably too soon to see any effects from that yet. i'm told an adrenal friendly diet should contain animal derived foods (boiled), soft boiled eggs, raw ham (eg parma)or bacon, other animal foods eg pork, chicken but not milk. > Supplement wise I currently take 2000mg vit c throughtout the day, B12 Complex(250mcg B12, 20mg B2, 20mg B120mg B6), 200ug selenium, 15mg zinc and about 4000iu of D3 a day. Do you take Vitamin A? i have learnt that this is important, too. > I'm wondering, maybe my thyroid is supported well now on the T3 and I'm overdoing it with the NA ? I was always lead to believe that when you are on T3, that you need to take plenty of adrenal support ? I don't know about that sorry, but I found the NA too stimulating. > As far as the Isocort goes, another forum member has told me that it's been reformulated as is now not really doing anything..... it's a shame as it really helped me before. Ok but there is still the thorne adrenal cortex: http://www.mandimart.co.uk/adrenal-cortex-50mg-by-thorne-research-60-capsules-71\ 9-p.asp > I'm pretty sure its my adrenals. Ok well i would check your symptoms above and see what they point to. This is important. > Sorry, I've really made a long post but I'm desperate. I would consider taking Vitamin A and the thorne extract. Why are you on T3 only? I am not familiar with your background, did NDT or T4 (in a proper dose) not help? Perhaps T3 is too much for your adrenals? chris
Guest guest
I would not recommend taking either DHEA or Pregnenolone (both adrenal hormones) without testing / knowing your levels. Since they are part of the sex hormone cascade you can have issues. Instead, I recommend adrenal glandular products, Vit C, Magnesium, and unrefined salt. This has worked well. If you get the DHEA and Pregnenolone blood levels done and they are low then you can add that as well. I took all three - plus the nutrient supplements to heal my adrenals.
