Guest guest
Yes, its going to be much cheaper than low carb I was having to have more eggs, chicken, fish. I rarely fried any thing accept stir - fry and ate beans and pulses for fibre / carb/protein (but not complex carbs). And veggies but not carrotts, corn I notice an affect on my blood sugars with these foods.Butter beans are my favourite, they are good for lowering cholesterol aswell. No reason I can't include them still, as long as no salt, sugar added if buying tinned.I'm looking forward to it but hope the bread don't make me ill. I've always had salt before so trying bread but dashing, it should hopefully be a different story this time! Guest guest
Does anyone know - should I call an entomologist or is there some other specialist I should contact? I don't know what else to do and although this rash is driving me completely nuts...I cannot bear to see it on my children anymore. If anyone has had something like this please either post or e-mail me langfordfarms at gmail dot com I really need help. > > Could someone tell me what the symptoms of bird or rodent mites are?? I keep hearing people talk about " bites " and the only time I feel anything like that is in the car...nothing like that from my clothes or house. We had a hive like rash that would start on one side of our bodies and spread to the exact same spot on the other side of our body (sides of hips, backs of arms, chest and back, etc) After two doses of Premethrin it went away for about a week - then two of my children had patches of the hive like rash and then it went away. My other daughter and myself just feel things crawling everywhere. Then I started getting a rash again on one hip (then it spread to the other hip), backs of my arms, etc. It itched so bad last night that I couldn't sleep. I'm starting to freak out because I have been doing the A & H soaks this week, along with two doses of Premethrin, and one of Ivermectin. What else is there to do?? Can someone else tell me if they had a rash like this and what worked for them?? I'm losing it right now... My eight year old has this rash all over her face as of last night and I have no idea what to do. Please help. >

Guest guest
Hi Lee This mix stops the rash & itch in 10 mins . http://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/dog_mange_cure.html The mix: 2 tblspns borax (20 mule team Borax laundry booster 16 oz peroxide (3%) 32 oz water. mix it , and the borax nuetralizes the peroxide, its painless , feels like water. Apply top of head to toes , leave on till next bath , it leaves invisible residue of the borax . It heals cuts & lesions fast, try to keep out of the eye ball, it stings a little . I use it all the time . The hazard is it affects kidney after weeks & weeks of use . Taper off patient by diluting mix w/ more water & switchhing to epsom salts 2 tbls in mix after 2 weeks. & keep treating with 36 oz of water a 1 cup epsom salts for 1 month after weekly bath . It wil leave a protective coat . read the link above , it explains it , the math they speak of for the mix is hard to figure out , but I did & it is as I staed above , it says it dosent really matter about the concentrations , just mix it & use it , now, It wil save the dogs coat & skin & peoples too : ) it stops mosquito bites from itching too amazing , the peroxide makes the borax penetrate into the skin very effectivly. I have had this bug , I leaves rashes & bites like a pierce somtimes , it spreads i , this bug is a meanace , it dosent bite everyone , it is a rat mite of a sort , I don't think it is easy to determine which rat mite sort it is, exterminators are un educated in it & so are most Doctors , it vectors strange infections , & likes to mimic duplicate bites on each hand or wahtever ...it is so strange . , it gets into cars & seats , Borax 1/2 cup per 3 galoons soak it out of the skin , (2) 30 min long soaks per day for 1-6 weeks . Taper off afer 1 week to half epom salts & half borax , it has worked gor me everytime . I keep picking it back up from the park or the dock or other people friends that caught it somwhere . I kill it every time I fell it withthe perocide / borax / water mix, I keep a bottle of it ( the peroxide mix ) in a hand sanitizer bollt in my pocket , I apply every time I feel a bite , it kill sit quick , I never scratch open the skin it make more entry points for infection I nuke the car with 1 cup spic & span & 1 cup borax & 1 gallon of water in a chapin brand garden sprayer from Ace hardware , I soak the seat & carpets like it is garden furniture, then dry with an indestructible vidal sasson hair dryer from the dollar store on the floor for 12 hrs . Then I use a & h carpet fresh for 12 hrs then, vac it out & cover the seats with a plastic dollar store 9'X12' tarp & tie it in the back of the seat with a bow knot . It works . I change plastic every day if needs be . Attrition : the act of reducing the poulation daily untill there is none , keep at it , it is a bug it will die I spray this mix lightly on anywhere I think bugs are m it arrests them instantly & poisons them , it never bothers me though 48 oz hot water 1/2 cup borax ( to poison there digestive tract ) 1/2 epsom salts ( to dry like a glaze on them locking them in a tomb, also acts as a repelant ) 2 tbls coconut oil ( to make them get stuck in the oil film , like a pelican in the gulf oils spill ) ( buy it from the grocery next to the olive oil ) This is a bug , kill it it will die Baths with lots of bubble drowns it on the skin , a fogger with the above mix ( borax epsom coconut water ) in it will kill them in the house , I used to fog every 3 days for a month each room , it killed them . It is a process , Foggers : $200.00 best thing I ever bought www.cedarcide.com ( or .org ? ) I boil all my clothes I sleep on an air matress on a wood floor that has been misted with the above mix ( borax epsom cococnut water ) , I spraye the cieling to , they are spiders, they never bite me while I sleep .in the am I deflate the air matress , roll up & put it in a 5 gallon bucket with 1/2- 1 cup of arm & hammer powdered laundry soap. It kills them . God bless you , Bill ps this is the place to come for answers almost everybody has been cured here. It can take a little time , it is if there is an ant infestation , you have to keep poisoning them pss sulfur creme is safe for infants I mix it in a small opaque dish soap bottle 1 teasp 1 teasp coconut oil then shake for 20 seconds 8 teap any hand creme shake for 20 seconds apply top of head to toe & leave on till next shower , it stops the itch in 10 mins also. It dries the skin a little so I used to take a bubble bath to let my skin soap up moisture . Buy humco flowers of sulfur sublimed at www.americarx.com ($12.00 pss awesome sit of a very smart family that whipped it in 2 months, please read it it will comfort you a lot http://www.shanspirations.org/?p=112 bye again , Bill On Sat Aug 14th, 2010 8:48 AM EDT les_lee77 wrote: > Does anyone know - should I call an entomologist or is there some other specialist I should contact? Guest guest
if you have not already seen an MD, then please see a dermatologist or MD to look at the rash on all of you. The first dermatologist we saw ID'ed are bites as bird or rodent mites and that's how we knew to look for a nest and for rodent activity. Since your kids are being affected it is sooo important. z3 > > Could someone tell me what the symptoms of bird or rodent mites are?? Guest guest
If like here and it takes weeks or months to see a dermatologist, if it is mites you will have hundreds more by the time you get a diagnosis. Do you see insects? Make a homemade glue trap or buy some, see if there are bugs. Check for birds nest, rodent droppings. If you find insects on traps take to local extension office and have identified. http://www.cleanertoday.com/Spider-traps-s/86.htm http://pestcemetery.com/making-glue-traps/ http://www.csrees.usda.gov/Extension/ > > > > > > Could someone tell me what the symptoms of bird or rodent mites are?? Guest guest
I have had this since Feb. I have been to three different doctors many times and nothing prescribed even helped a little. I then went ot the dermatoligst with one of my children and he diagnosed us as having " a mite " . He prescribed premethrin - it went away for about a week. When it came back it will not respond to premethrin at all. > > > > Could someone tell me what the symptoms of bird or rodent mites are?? Guest guest
The rash could be caused by an allergic response to whatever is on you. The crawling sensation certainly does sound like a bird mites. Do you ever get prickles, cuz that is what the mite bites feel like to us. Our mites require a microscope to see, on HIGH magnification. You may have a bacteria or fungal infection from the mites that the MD diagnosed and treated w/permethrin. That would also explain the rashes as well. There are also websites called 'BirdMite.org' which has lots of helpful info about birdmite symptoms and treatment. There is also 'Mr common sense' and 'Herbal Healer' and 'How I cured Morgellon's' which all may help you with more info... Here are some things which MAY be slowly helping me, as I am better now than I was a few months ago. Still not near 100% cured: 1) Straight vinegar sprayed on the skin and left there for 10 minutes before daily shower. 2) Scrubbing entire body with the ESP Botanical Sulfur soap 1-2 times per day with a srub brush 3) Washing all clothes with BioKleen Plus on high heat and ironing everything possible 4) Cleaning all the surfaces of your environment with vinegar (mixed with a third hydrogen Peroxide when possible) and washing that away with orange plus cleaner from Ecos 5) Happy Tummy colon cleanse for the first 10 days of each month. 6) Fungal Defense, Primal Defense, and Cat's Claw Defense Complex each day as directed on bottles 7) 2-person IR sauna 1 hr a day as hot as I can take it (usually 125-130 as I'm a wimp) 8) Ca-Mag 9) Steri Fab has also helped in our environment 10) 100 other things... possibly. It is EXHAUSTING just to think about all we have done and all we keep doing to solve this mite-mare!!!!!!! Let me know if you figure out more about what is bugging you and how to cure it, as it will help me and others on this site as well. z3 > > > > > > Could someone tell me what the symptoms of bird or rodent mites are?? Guest guest
Carolyn can you remind us what drugs, hormones and supplements you are taking and any recent labs? I find it helps to write everything down when you change or start a new process. I carried a Jotter Pad around with me when I had adrenal fatigue to record everything I was feeling and doing. Whenever something went crazy, I always had something to refer back to... Cheers, JOT > Please can someone explain to me how I can have energy for one day and then be exhausted for weeks? Guest guest
Check out the following Carolyn and go through this with a fine tooth comb to find if it is any of these associated conditions that is going alongside your hypothyroidism. We have to go through each of these by way of a process of elimination. You must leave nothing unturned. The main condition responsible for stopping thyroid hormone from working is, quite simply, a patient’s thyroxine dose is too low because the doctor or consultant refuses to increase it, because the serum thyroid function test results appear OK. Sometimes, the thyroxine dose is too high, yet patients still don't feel well. They continue to suffer. Some reasons for this: They may be suffering with low adrenal reserve. The production of T4, its conversion to T3, and the receptor uptake requires a normal amount of adrenal hormones, notably, of course, cortisone. (Excess cortisone can shut production down, however.) This is what happens if the adrenals are not responding properly, and provision of cortisone usually switches it on again. But sometimes it doesn’t. If the illness has been going on for a long time, the enzyme seems to fail. This conversion failure (inexplicably denied by many endocrinologists) means the thyroxine builds up, unconverted. So it doesn’t work, and T4 toxicosis results. This makes the patient feel quite unwell, toxic, often with palpitations and chest pain. If provision of adrenal support doesn’t remedy the situation, the final solution is the use of the active thyroid hormone, already converted, T3 - either synthetic or natural. Then, we have systemic candidiasis. This is where candida albicans, yeast, which causes skin infections almost anywhere in the body, invades the lining of the lower part of the small intestine and the large intestine. Here, the candida sets up residence in the warmth and the dark, and demands to be fed. Loving sugars and starches, candida can make you suffer terrible sweet cravings. Candida can produce toxins which can cause very many symptoms of exhaustion, headache, general illness, and which interfere with the uptake of thyroid and adrenal treatment. Sometimes the levels - which we usually test for - can be very high, and make successful treatment difficult to achieve until adequately treated. Then there is receptor resistance which could be a culprit. Being hypothyroid for some considerable time may mean the biochemical mechanisms which permit the binding of T3 to the receptors, is downgraded - so the T3 won’t go in. With slow build up of T3, with full adrenal support and adequate vitamins and minerals, the receptors do come on line again. But this can be quite a slow process, and care has to be taken to build the dose up gradually. And then there are Food allergies. The most common food allergy is allergy to gluten, the protein fraction of wheat. The antibody generated by the body, by a process of molecular mimicry, cross reacts with the thyroperoxidase enzyme, (which makes thyroxine) and shuts it down. So allergy to bread can make you hypothyroid. There may be other food allergies with this kind of effect, but information on these is scanty. Certainly allergic response to certain foods can affect adrenal function and imperil thyroid production and uptake. Then we have hormone imbalances. The whole of the endocrine system is linked; each part of it needs the other parts to be operating normally to work properly. An example of this we have seen already, with cortisone. But another example is the operation of sex hormones. The imbalance that occurs at the menopause with progesterone running down, and a relative dominance of oestrogen is a further case in point – oestrogen dominance downgrades production, transportation and uptake of thyroid hormones. This is why hypothyroidism may first appear at the menopause; the symptoms ascribed to this alone, which is then treated – often with extra oestrogen, making the whole thing worse. Deficiency in progesterone most especially needs to be dealt with, since it reverses oestrogen dominance, improves many menopausal symptoms like sweats and mood swings, and reverses osteoporosis. Happily natural progesterone cream is easily obtained: when used it has the added benefit of helping to stabilise adrenal function. Then, we must never forget the possibility of mercury poisoning (through amalgam fillings) - low levels of iron, transferring saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc - all of which, if low, stop the thyroid hormone from being utilised by the cells - these have to be treated. As Dr Peatfield says " When you have been quite unwell for a long time, all these problems have to be dealt with; and since each may affect the other, it all has to be done rather carefully. Contrary to cherished beliefs by much of the medical establishment, the correction of a thyroid deficiency state has a number of complexities and variables, which make the treatment usually quite specific for each person. The balancing of these variables is as much up to you as to me – which is why a check of morning, day and evening temperatures and pulse rates, together with symptoms, good and bad, can be so helpful. Many of you have been ill for a long time, either because you have not been diagnosed, or the treatment leaves you still quite unwell. Those of you who have relatively mild hypothyroidism, and have been diagnosed relatively quickly, may well respond to synthetic thyroxine, the standard treatment For many of you, the outstanding problem is not that the diagnosis has not been made – although, extraordinarily, this is disgracefully common – but that is has, and the thyroxine treatment doesn’t work. The dose has been altered up and down, and clinical improvement is variable and doesn’t last, in spite of blood tests, which say you are perfectly all right (and therefore you are actually depressed and need this fine antidepressant). The above problems must be eliminated if thyroid hormone isn't working for you. Luv - Sheila Please can someone explain to me how I can have energy for one day and then be exhausted for weeks? I am really down about this as on my good DAY I feel normal but am really dibalated for most of my life. thanks Carolyn
Guest guest
Hi Carolyn Sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. I think you posted recently that you were on 60mg of Erfa - why did you change to T3, were you not doing well on the Erfa? Please can you advise what amount of T3 you are taking and how often. I have found that T3 can be hard on the adrenals. Do you know you need T3? Did you try T4 before Erfa? Most people seem to do ok on T4? One member here - - has written about taking his T3 early in the morning, I think sometime between 4-6 am, and this seems to help the adrenal glands with their cortisol production. Other people have reported this helps, too. Sorry that is not doing justice to 's protocol as I am not very familiar with it but other members may be able to help more by sharing their experiences. Do you feel worse on T3 only than you did on Erfa? Are these symptoms -including the sweating - worse on T3? Have you done the hertoghe questionnaire in the files? What does that show? thyroid treatment/files/MEDICAL%20QUES\ TIONNAIRES/ do you have any blood or saliva or urine tests? do you have any other symptoms other than what you've listed? chris > > I wonder can anyone help me as I am feeling pretty bad. Guest guest
How much T3 are you taking Carolyn? For the moment, try cutting it back by decreasing your dose by 10mcgs (or 12.5mcgs whatever brand you are using) and see how you feel then. Luv - Sheila I wonder can anyone help me as I am feeling pretty bad. I am taking NAE along with selinum and T3.I have been following this regime for a couple of weeks now and although I used to have really bad night sweats now these are getting worse and are continuing through out the day and are getting so bad I am staying in as much as possible as poeple are noticing these and I am feeling strange when these occur. Also I have bad back and groin pain, and palpitations. My energy levels are low andhave been for a long time now, any advice and ideas as to what could be wrong will be very welcome. I am seeing Dr.P in Feb.2012.
Guest guest
Carolyn's response to me (i think you clicked on the wrong button, Carolyn) From: Carolyn < Sent: Thursday, 3 November 2011, 1:36 Subject: Re: Symptoms Hi thanks so much for replying to mt :post: I was taking T3 but my symptoms were not much better so I asked my Endo if I could try natural thyroid. He very kindly prescribed this for me {60 mg} I took NAE and selinum prior to starting Erfa then took 1/4 tab as suggested on Tpa site slowly building up as suggested, I am going abroad ror 45 days and would have run out of Erfa whilst away as my G.P said he can't prescribe it. So I reverted back to T3 after 24hrs. I have purchased some progestorone cream to help with the very bad sweating but will have to wait forvit to take effect. I have had an adreanal test and it came back too low in morning too high for the other 3 times. The reason I have taken steps to have Erfa is because whilst being on t4 for 12+ years I have always suffered debilatating fatigue, and lots of other hypo symptoms which until joining the T.P.A. I and my G.P. didn't realise were connected. I find the symptoms I am now experencing now quite scarry, but hope the trial and error bring lasting improved health. Sorry for the long " post " but you did ask!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha Ha, luv Carolyn
Guest guest
Hi Carolyn Let me try to reply to you here, i would have replied earlier but been busy at work unfortunately (anyone would think they paid me). I think when you replied to my message you may have clicked 'reply to sender' not 'reply to group' - if you reply to group it posts the reply back to the forum, which is better then you can get everyone's opinion on what's going on. I'm trying to familiarise myself with your situation. When the endo gave you the Erfa, did you feel better on it? From the information on this board, it sounds like your GP can prescribe Erfa, but whether he wants to or not is another thing ? With regards to you running out of Erfa - was the endo going to write to your GP and ask him/her to prescribe erfa, or were you due to go back and see the endo? Is there any way you can ask the endo for another prescription ? when do you go out the country? >I have purchased some progestorone cream to help with the very bad sweating but will have to wait forvit to take effect. I have had an adreanal test and it came back too low in morning too high for the other 3 times. Ok I hope that progesterone helps you soon and you start to feel better. Do you think taking T3 only could be too hard on your adrenal glands? I am not one to advise you on medication but can you ask your doctor whether he'd give you a mix of T4 and T3 similar to what's in Erfa? I am just wondering if the T3 may be a bit hard on your body that's all. What else did the endo say, did he agree to check any mineral/vitamin deficiencies and look at the status of your adrenal glands? chris

The entomologist could not specify it any further, but all my misery started with a bird's nest on top of our office building, so I assume I am dealing with bird mites. They all keep telling us, how important id'ing would be, but noone knows how to eradicate bird mites anyway. I have been reading for hours on bird breeder forums and they all say in unison that the problem can be controlled, but not terminated. I have spoken to the biggest pest controller in my area. They told me that they would not have any substance to fumigate the house with for BM, and that I should get a good vacuum cleaner and use it every day. They do not know a thing. > > > >________________________________ >Von: " charlesbradshaw1@... As for the size of mites I cannot see them and never could. Just too small. Not even with a 15 power lense. I don't know also how important it is to identify exactly. Just to get rid of them. Tell you the truth. There is no one that I have found in san antonio that knows anything about them or even wants to return a call. I have talked to the supervisors of all pest companies here. >Sent from my BlackBerry® by Boost Mobile > >------------------------------------ > >
