Guest guest
Judith: I don't know what ELSE Alt is elevated for but it often (could) mean bacteria in the bloodstream. That is one reason. My friend had this happen and at the same time, he had an infected tooth and the doctor was looking for OTHER REASONS with many tests. Once the tooth was pulled the ALT went down and my friend told the doctor that he had an infected tooth pulled out and that was the reason for the elevated ALT and the doctor said, "I never heard of that before". Geeze, some doctors are so dumb. Sometimes these bacterial infections could be from Subaceous Cysts too. I am having a liver ultrasound next week to see if my ALT is high bec of iron being stored in the liver. I am afraid of hemochromatosis & want to stop taking Vit C now bec of my iron overload. Is it okay to continue taking Iodoral 50 mg w/out taking any extra Vit C, as the C is not recommended if your iron sat is high. >> Madeline,> I'm not Steph and can't address your iron questions, but I do know & use C-Salts and can speak to that.> > Yes, the stated dose is 1 teasp. which gives 4 grams of C. However, you can adjust that for amount. One way is to mix a full teasp., drink part, then put the rest in frig until later. Another way, that I do often, is to simply measure out less of the powder at a time, so that if you just use 1/2 teasp. you would just have 2 grams.> This flexibility is one of the things that I lke about the C-Salts.> > Blessings,> Judy> >  > They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. I was looking thru the files to see how much C was recommended & I did not see that but did run across a brand of C-Salts that sounded nice. My labs just came back & my ferritin has shot up to 91, but my iron saturation is too high at 58% & my serum iron is high too at 173. > >> >I am wondering if my C is making me have too much iron, tho I don't supplement any iron.> >> >If I switched to C-Salts, could I take 1/2 the amount to get only 2,000 mg C instead of their recommended dosing? Also, is this what you think would be good - 2,000 mg C continued even tho my iron is high. Note that my FT3 was very high too & I am cutting back on my thyroid med now.> >> >Thank you,> >Madeline> >> >> > > >> >>
