Guest guest
Hi , H-pylori is the bacteria they’ve attributed many gastric ulcers to. If the blood test is positive they treat with antibiotics and the ulcers tend to go away. Do you use Emla cream when you do blood work? In the US I think you need a prescription for it, but twenty minutes after applied the site is numb and makes blood work on children much easier.(for me and ) I put it on both anticubital sites (inner elbow where the pokes usually occur) then I put saran-wrap on to hold cream in place until we get to the lab. It’s been a lifesaver since I started using it. It’s over the counter but behind with the druggist here in Canada so I just have to ask for it. Best wishes in your journey. Walton (5) BC Canada Frustrated! Hi all, Just yet another update on Drew post tonsillectomy... for a quick re- cap, he had the tonsillectomy 4 weeks ago now. Very rough recovery, but went to the ENT doc on day 14 who said that his throat looked great- no scabs left. That night, he started fevering and finally had to give him prednisone 5 days later, which did knock the fever out at first then came back. His mouth has been a mess since he started the fever, of course right after seeing the ENT. He has horrible sores, and today took him back to the doc because he's not eating, and drinking only milk, and milkshakes. She said his throat was covered in pus and tinged with blood (and this is on top of about 10-15 sores in his mouth). Some sores have healed up, but I noticed 2 new ones today- just as one heals another one starts. She doesn't know what to do for us, and wanted us to see the ENT again to see if maybe this was somehow to be expected after a tonsillectomy (the throat not the sores). Have any of your children with tonsillectomies had lingering pus in the throat after 4 weeks? 2 weeks ago, the ENT said it looked fine. (tested for strep too, negative). His lymph nodes are huge in his neck, so all signs point to , but after giving him the prednisone, although the fever initially went away, it came back. Also, he's been on tylenol (and more recently motrin) around the clock for an entire month now, not a single day break from it. I can't even begin to imagine what this is doing to his insides... and right now he's afraid to sleep because he wakes up in pain. So the doctor is also sending us back to the rheumatologist in Boston Children's, have to call tomorrow as the office was closed by the time I got out of the doctors today. I am hoping they can fit us in relatively soon, and if not, the pediatrician is running some tests (wanted to wait to see if we could get into Children's soon so we could minimize the blood draws)- checking the usual CBC, platelet, ESR, and also doing metabolic profile, mono titre (he's had mono before), iron, TIBC, and H pylori (have to go look that one up). Hard to believe that he can function on only yogurt, milk and milkshakes for an entire month- he's had almost no solids since the surgery. Tonight he ate about 3 bites of plain pasta. I work part time and right now I'm trying to figure out a way to keep him out of daycare for a few weeks, as it would be just his luck to catch the flu or something. My husband is out of town for work until Nov 1, so right now I'm calling in every available resource. OK enough of the long rambling letter, but once again I just don't know where to turn and this group is a lifesaver!! Thanks, mom to Drew, age 2 3/4 town, RI

It needs to be the chewable kind as it's activated by the saliva in chewing it. I've used several brands, the current is the el cheapo at 100 mg per tab. directions say to chew 2to4 , 20 minutes before or after meals. THis kind of licorice does not have the antiviral properities, but it's great for H. pylori. mjh " The Basil Book " http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/

Guest guest
Maxine, I am doing a gut protocol that Dr Cheney recently put me on. It has Golden seal as part of it. So maybe this protocol will knock out the H-pylori. I didn't discuss it with him, it was for the IBS. I'll post the whole protocol for you and someone who might benefit from it. Take care, L There are 3 phases: Remove, Repair, And Restore: The Remove Phase: Week 1:Uva Ursi, Paud'Arco and Golden Seal, 1T of each in water once a day Week 2: Golden Seal, Globe Artichoke, Garlic for 2-3 weeks, Stop the above after a 2-3 week course Then begin - Saccromyccees Boulardii x 3 twice daily thereafter Repair Phase - 4 week course continue S. Boulardii Seacure@3twice daily Glutaimmune@ 1 T in water twice daily Stop above Restore Phase - 4 week course Continue S. Boulardii Probiosyn@ 1 three times a day EnZym-Complete/DDP-IV for my digestive enzyme with each meal. On Feb 7, 2006, at 11:04 AM, weldmanm@... wrote: > In a message dated 2/7/06 11:42:42 A.M. Guest guest
Hi I had an endoscopy last week which showed inflammation inside and outside of my stomach (duodenitis) and a hiatus hernia. The bi-opsy has shown negative for H-pylori but the letter says " may show false negative if on PPI " which is what I have been prescribed. Has anyone any experience or any info on this as I do not see the specialist until mid November Thank you Debbie
