Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to the group.....I live in Australia and unfortunately we don't have the Urine Loading Test here so have to rely on the Urinary Iodine Test which I believe is not that accurate? My initial urinary result was that I was very low in Iodine so have been taking 4 drops of the Lugols (Iodine 5%, Iodide 10%) - a recent test showed I was way too high 450 (sorry don't know the units as don't have copy of tests) and integrated doc wanted me at around 150 so I reduced my dose to one drop a day and fell in a HUGE hypothyroid hole and my breast cysts became very sore again so went back to 4 drops a day but am still not where I want to be and very fatigued - eyes feel very heavy. Doc agreed that maybe my requirement for idoine is more and is happy for me to experiment but I am unsure whether I should try increasing my dose or reducing maybe to 3 or 2 drops as was wondering if I am feeling this bad because the high result in the iodine urinary test means that the iodine is suppressing my thyroid hormone production? Is this a valid concern as I could not find any reference to this in Dr Brownsteins Iodine book but have read elsewhere. I also take the following daily:- 5 grains of TariThyroid (Australia version of Armour) 10mcg of T3 38mg of Cortisol BioIdentical Progesterone Cream I have very high RT3 and was on high doses of T3 for some time (as per RT3 group protocol) and never really felt any good on T3 only but RT3 did get back to where it should be but now after going on the Armour equivalent my RT3 is very high again. I have read in a separate post about the liver connection for RT3 and will talk to my integrated doctor about this. To treat my fatigue my doctor recently prescribed Bio-Identical Testosterone cream as tests showed I was low however within 4 days my breasts were SO sore I had to stop. He has also given me a weekly Vit D tablet which is 50,000IU however after feeling like I got a bit of a boost on day 1 & 2 I'm back to feeling fatigued again. Any advice, especially about the iodine dose and whether it is a valid concern to be worried about suppressing the thyroid if my dose is too high as I feel like I want to try to increase given how I reacted when reducing my dose. Thanks in advance. Rgds, Kate
