Iodoral and detox?

I'm mild hypothyroid. Doc said it doesn't warrant treatment at this point. I'm

taking Iodoral to see if it makes any difference to my thyroid condition. I

started out at 12.5mg for week 1, 25mg for week 2 and now at 37.5mg for week 3.

However, my fatigue is getting worse at 37.5mg. Is this normal detox side

effect? How long should it last? Should I tough it out and continue at this

dose or even ramp up to 50mg as described in the Brownstein iodine

protocol? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

hellogreencreamfan,

Are you taking the companion nutrients? Those are very important when you are taking iodine. You can do the Salt Loading Protocol to help with detox symptoms. Please read Commonly Asked Questions in our files for more information. Best, Kathleen

Do I need mega dose of Vitamin C in addition to Celtic Sea Salt to counter the

detox symptoms or just adding the salt will do? My multi-vitamin has 500mg of

Vitamin C in it already. Thanks!

Hello there,

It's really important for you to read the New Member doc., and Commonly Asked Questions. You will see that #3 answers your questions ( daily your Vitamin C intake while take iodine should be at least 2000 to 5000 mgs ), the other supporting nutrients are also very important, they are listed there and we also give you the reasons why they are important to take daily . A lot of work went in to creating the list of Questions and Answers to make your transition to taking iodine daily, a comfortable one. Please take the time to study it. I am a moderator, and I read the New Member doc. over again every few weeks just to refresh my memory. =-) Best, Kathleen

Hello Kathleen Blake,

I have tried to open some of the files about companion nutrients and the Salt

Loading Protocol, also the commony Asked Questions. Each time I get the message

that Adobe cannot open the file it is compromised or something like that. I

have not tried to SAVE the file, perhaps that might work. I just started with

Lugol's 7% solution, 1 drop for 3 days now and I would like to make sure I have

the other info. I'm on Levothyroxin, have Diabetes, Atrial Fibrillation and a

few other problems, I don't want to do more harm to myself. I went on the site

" The Iodine Group " and it seems one could have adverse effects if load testing

is not done from time to time.

I have not yet told my Dr. about starting the Iodine. I doubt she will look on

that with approval. She already 'gives me the eye' when I stop taking some Rx

she gives me because I can't take the side effects. I go on the Internet and

find out how bad the medicine is but my Dr. poo-poos the Internet...like it's

not a reliable source. She in an Endocrinologist, that's why I chose her. It

seems all my organs are going bad. Supplements, vitamins and minerals have

helped me but I don't want to be taking any that would cause the Iodine to harm

me further.

I chose this post to reply to because it references what I would like to be able

to read. I hope you get it OK.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Janet,

I am sorry you cannot access the Files on your computer. I just posted to the Group in an email what you could not access. The title of the email is: New Member doc copied into Email Body.

Please make sure you start taking the companion nutrients as soon as you can as they are most important to take while taking iodine. Many of us have not taken the Iodine Loading test *myself included, it really isn't necessary. But of course, if you want to take it, that is up to you.

It would be very good for you to read Dr. Brownsteins book; Iodine, Why You Need it; Why you Can't Live Without it. http://www.amazon.com/Iodine-need-cant-live-without/dp/B001URN3UG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1323501636 & sr=8-1

Yes, sadly, endos are not educated about iodine or natural thyroid hormone, which is much more like our own body's thyroid hormone ( You might want to consider taking a natural thyroid hormone such as Naturethroid, or the Canadian Erfa, as people have much better results than taking synthetic replacement).

Again, please read all you can in the email I posted with the Commonly Asked Questions, etc. Start the companion nutrients very soon, and remember that iodine is a natural material that is needed in every part of our body, not just the thyroid. It is very protective against cancers too. You are on the right track!

Kind regards,

Kathleen
