Im around the same if i counted it would depress me haha, and if i drink one can

of beer i would pee about 6 times :(

Do you know why ?

I do not believe mine is overactive bladder, but diabetes/insulin resitance,

yeast infection, low aldesterone, or a mixture of them all lol

lol, yup can beat that! I need to drink 2 litres a day of water (partly as

having one kidney) but also have a couple cups of tea a day and one coffee in

the morning. So that is my known liquid intake. If you include the 6 times I get

up in the night to pee, then I did count one week each and every time, and it

averaged out to be 32 times in a 24 hour period. If I don't drink around 2

litres plus a day I soon dehydrate and my fingers will " prune " very quickly!

I find that certain things irritate the bladder and make you want to go more

often. It isn't just the amount of fluid the bladder is holding.

Caffeine-containing drinks are a diuretic too.

It might be worth experimenting to see whether what you eat and drink makes any

difference. If I only drink water and don't eat anything, I can drink as much

as I like and I never feel desperate to go to the loo. In my case there is

definitely something in food causing irritation, but I haven't tracked down

exactly which foods.

Do you have a desire to drink as well as pee? Do you know for sure that this is an irritable bladder? It could also be Diabetes but INSIPIDUS rather than the sugar diabetes MELLITUS. This peeing is quite a common symptoms with hypothyroidism. Whilst diabetes Insipidus is rare it is associated with problems with the pituitary. The adrenals can also be involved here too. Salt intake being one of the relieving 'supplements'. As mentioned the diuretic effect of food and drinks should also be considered.

Is your GP aware of this Vivien - and if so, has he done

anything to try to find the cause? Do you go mostly during the day or night

time?

Sorry, I can't beat that record.

Hello everybody,

so one of my symptoms has always been overactive bladder since I was 16 (I am

39 now).

Yesterday, just out of curiosity, I counted how many times I went to the toilet

in 24 hours.

21.

Can anyone beat my record?

Bye.

I pee a lot. Always had a weak bladder. If i drink a pint at home i go to the

loo about 6 times while watching a film and having that beer.

The most i have done (if i remember correctly) was 12 x in about an hour. This

was about 18mths ago and i was still getting balanced. I called the gp to ask

for an aldosterone test and told him i was peeing that much per hour. This was

just a one off however as i was peeing loads around that time. No idea why, but

i dont pee like that now.

I think i pee less now that i drink salt water in the mornings.

I am fully balanced on my thyroid meds now, but i still pee a lot, but not as

much as before.

I can't say if this is down to thyroid meds or the salt though.

I had this urination problem from birth it seems and grew worse during the next

few decades. When I started supplementing with iodine it stopped and I could

hold my water for much longer.

If this is something that has started in the older years, I find it is generally

a need for progesterone or estradiol or both the sex hormones.

Iodine also makes you run warmer, even in the cold weather.

Cheers,

JOT

In that case, is it better when on a no-sugar, low-carb diet? I also find that

supplements with B vitamins in are irritating.

Maybe this is why so many of us have problems with low mineral levels? We are

losing them through excessive urination?

Hi everybody,

I wasn't expecting so many answers, it is true that I go so many times to the

toilet and I can see that many of you have this problem too.

I know all the toilets in Brighton.

This all started when I was 16. It is now part of my life.

I have done many tests, they even sent me to a special clinic, they offered me

medication for it but I don't want to take it.

At the moment I am taking Himalian salt, Nax, Ndt, T3, an incredible amount of

vitamins and minerals.

I don't think it has something to do with anything I am taking as it all started

when I was a teenager when all I was eating was air, as I was anorexic so that

messed up everything.

Anyway, you all made me smile with your answers, thank you!

We have always called it the " mitchell " bladder as it seems a lot of women on my

mother's side had the same problem - and this is from birth. If anyone stopped

us to ask the way, we would direct them according to the public toilets!! I have

never had any tests to see why I pee a lot have always just accepted it as being

" me " . Though had numerous urine and blood tests done last year when gave up a

kidney (non illness) and I was pronouced in excellent health (even though

borderline obese)!! Would have thought if anything showed up as abnormal I would

have been told. Diet does not seem to affect me one way or another but what I do

notice is during the summer and warmer months I will pee less often even though

I probably drink more, but has to be really hot for that. I have to drink in the

night also otherwise I wake with horrible headache and feeling ill. Water gets

rid of that, so must be dehydrated when I wake. So bit of a circle there, as

have a drink when I go to bed; get up to pee and have a drink .. so it goes on

during the night. I have learned to live with it.

The worst scenario would have been when I was called up for jury service couple

years ago. Can you imagine had I not been able to " get out of it " , having to

stick my hand up to ask to go to pee and then, as often happens, come back and

sit down only to straight away want to pee again!! My worst nightmare that would

have been, thank goodness I " managed " to get out of jury service!

Well if doctors and their tests were so fantastic we wouldnt have groups such as this one, me thinks? However, I am not suggesting for a minute your are anything other than in good health......except for what appears to be constant dehydration. I have a similar thing....this has improved enormously through good thyroid hormone supplementation and adrenal support. You have to find what is right for you, but yes I did the same thing. Drink before bed having drunk loads through the day....often 8 pints or more of water and more if I drank a cup of tea or coffee as I would have a glass of water with that drink.

Then up in the night to pee but no saliva in my mouth and feeling dehydrated so drink more. Indeed I would feel odd not taking a pint of water to bed with me. I was tested for Diabetes Insipidus and this was positive........this is a test with blood and urine and can be started by your GP before referral to specialist.

In the summer we sweat more. This may not be obvious in perspiration but its there and that is why we all pee less in the summer despite drinking more. Sweating is one way of excreting fluids and waste products also breathing looses water from our body, further bowel excrement looses body fluid too.....so its not just urine. Urine should though be colourless. If its amber then you are dehydrated and that goes for us all.

Get some tests done re diabetes insipidus. nothing to do with diabetes mellitus (the sugar one) Its to do with the antidiuretic hormone from the pituitary gland.....
