Guest guest
were you feeling very stressed to get the cortisol test done at 8am ....are you nervous of needles ...that could be why your result is over the top of the range. both high and low cortisol impede t3 uptake at the cellular level apparently. your urea reading is below range ...do you eat low protein, had you drunk lots of water? i believe the high C reactive protein indicates you have inflammation somewhere. your iron results suggest you may be deficient ...the transferrin and saturation are low ...saturation needs to be 35% i think. ferritin can show higher when there is inflammation in the body so your real reading may be much lower ...a minimum of 70 is recommended if i remember rightly. are you taking anything to support your adrenals? what thyroid replacement do you take? > > My results from tests 3 weeks ago were: > > 8 am cortisol - 635 ( ref range 110 - 550) > Free T4 - 13.5 (9.0 - 25.0) > TSH - 1.62 (0.35 - 5.50) > Free T3 - 4.2 (3.5 - 6.5) > urea - 2.0 (2.5 - 8.0) > haemoglobin - 129 (115 - 165) > C Reactive protein - 4.0 (<3.0) > >
Guest guest
Hi Trish, Thanks a million for replying, I'm eally feeling stuck re what to do next. My life has been extremely stressful in many ways over the past 2 years (moved country, moved house 4 times, changed job several times, total financial crisis...)I'm not nervous of needles but my general stress level may have been an influence, do you think? I am vegetarian so my main protein source is beans and nuts, and yes, I am probably low in protein - I have broken all my rules and started eating tuna for the omega fats and to up my protein, so hopefully that will improve. And yes, I drink a great deal of water, mainly due to the heat up here but I drink at least 2 litres a day anyway - is this a negative for protein? I wasoff work sick for a few days a week before the tests - think my body just caved in from stress, I was very close to the edge and slept for 22 hours straight which I have never done. Dr thinks it may have been a tropical virus (I live on a remote aboriginal comunity with atrocious local health standards so there are always bugs waiting to invade.) This may explain the high C Reactive. It's the iron that interests me at this stage... do you think I need some form of iron supplement? I am not taking anything at this stage... I have been unable to get much effective dr input so I have been relying on info from this forum, and haven't started taking any adrenal or thyroid supplements as am anxious about getting it wrong, given I know so little about it all. Would you recommend any iron supplement? Thanks so much for your time... much ppreciated as I feel lost in a desert here with no access to good medical services/ information! > > were you feeling very stressed to get the cortisol test done at 8am ....are you nervous of needles > your urea reading is below range ...do you eat low protein, had you drunk lots of water? > i believe the high C reactive protein indicates inflammation > your iron results suggest you may be deficient ...the transferrin and saturation are low ...saturation needs to be 35% i think. ferritin can show higher when there is inflammation in the body so your real reading may be much lower ...a minimum of 70 is recommended if i remember rightly. > are you taking anything to support your adrenals? what thyroid replacement do you take? > > > > My results from tests 3 weeks ago were: > > 8 am cortisol - 635 ( ref range 110 - 550) > > Free T4 - 13.5 (9.0 - 25.0) > > TSH - 1.62 (0.35 - 5.50) > > Free T3 - 4.2 (3.5 - 6.5) > > urea - 2.0 (2.5 - 8.0) > > haemoglobin - 129 (115 - 165) > > C Reactive protein - 4.0 (<3.0)
Guest guest
, do you have any members of your family or friends who can get the medications you need and send out to you. You sound as if you need a good source of elemental iron such as Ferrous Fumerate or Glutamate, at least 200mgs daily, but if you are very anaemic, you could start with 400mgs daily with HIGH doses of vitamin C e.g. 4/5000mgs daily to help with absorption and to help ward off infections. As you appear to be suffering with adrenal fatigue, you would benefit from taking some adrenal supplements such as Nutri Adrenal Extra, starting with one tablet with breakfast and adding another tablet after 10 days with your lunch. You should increase this dosage if your symptoms continue by another tablet in another 10 days taking this with breakfast, and carry on like this until your symptoms ease. You should not take Nutri Adrenal Extra after 1.00p.m. in case you are kept awake and you should not take more than 6 tablets daily. Most people do well with 2 or 3. It's a pity you cannot get the blood tests we recommend to see where your levels lie to find out whether certain minerals and vitamins need to be supplemented. You are likely to benefit from a good vitamin B complex, magnesium and zinc. Are you living where you are because of your job and if so, any chance you can get away from there in the not too distant future and live in a more 'civilised' area? I wish we could fill a big hamper with all the 'goodies' that will make you well and send it over to you. Luv - Sheila I am vegetarian so my main protein source is beans and nuts, and yes, I am probably low in protein - I have broken all my rules and started eating tuna for the omega fats and to up my protein, so hopefully that will improve. Guest guest
Thanks, Sheila! Your suggestions of what I might take are a huge help. I am stuck here because the pay is good and the recession in Ireland has put me in huge neg equity so I am here to deal with mortgage payments etc. I leave on Dec 16 and had planned to spend some time back home but have been offered a very well paid yet much less stressful job in Brunei for January. I don't know if I can get the supplements you mention in Singapore, where I will be stopping for 4 days en-route to Brunei but I am hoping so. I am also hoping I will be able to get the tests you recommend there as I don't think the labs there will require a dr referral. If anyone reading has any experience of drs in Singapore and can recommend a thyroid/adrenal-friendly one. please let me know! Otherise, I will just do some internet research and hope I can find a dr who will be some help. Failing that, I'll have to try and get the supplements online and just hope Brunei isn't too difficult about me importing them... and hope I can get the tests done and get interpretation of them on the forum here. If I don't manage to get the tests done in Singapore, then could you recommend appropriate doses of the Vit B complex, magnesium and zinc that you mention? I have noted the amounts of the others you recommended. Thanks as ever for your time and effort, it's a beacon in the dark, here!!!
