Guest guest
Thanks Al, I'll remember that when I get to the point where I need my sex drive again. Guest guest
Hi Steve, I'm not so sure about males using vitex for CFS, I read it could reduce testosterone and sex drive in men. Al > " R. Guest guest
Hi! Chasteberry (also called Chastetree), Latin name is Vitex Agnux Castus. It reduces prolactin levels. I wasn't tested, but apparently, people with CFS have tested high levels of prolactin. In the body, prolactin and growth hormones act like a teeter-totter, high prolactin, low growth hormone, so it follows, that if prolactin levels are brought down to a normal level, the level of growth hormones should increase. It is also a favourite pre/postmenapausal remedy. I take a tonic called PASCOFEMININE Liquidum from Pasco (a German company). It seems to be almost impossible to obtain in the U.S. I also tried Chastetree tincture and it worked okay. The tonic might be an added benefit for me because I'm 59 and it contains additional ingredients, but the main ingredient is the Chasteberry. Guest guest
On the recommendation of Dr P I take Nutri Metagenics Chasteberry Plus tablets. As well as Chasteberry they also contain black cohosh and ashwagandha, and I have found them to be very helpful. However, I have now been told that they are being discontinued – so i would be interested to know if anyone can recommend an alternative Chasteberry supplement. Many thanks. Guest guest
Thank-you Sheila and for your replies. Yes, i have been stocking up! I normally purchase the Chasteberry tablets from Your Nutrition Shop, but they only had one pot left and said they would not be getting any more as it has been discontinued by Nutri. However, I have also emailed the manufacturer direct - but have not had any reply from them as yet. I will let you know if I hear anything from them. Many thanks. Guest guest
Just in case anyone else uses Chasteberry Plus, I have had the following reply from Nutri Ltd - " Chasteberry Plus has been discontinued & we recommend Estrofactors or Nutri Female. These products are not a direct replacement so you will need to consult your practitioner for advice.
