Guest guest
I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in January 2006 after a partial thyroidectomy in December 2005. I then had a total thyroidectomy in March 2006 followed by radio-iodine ablation therapy in August 2006. My thyroid replacement started on T3 only as it makes you hypo quicker when you have to stop all meds in preparation for the radio-iodine, however after being cancer free for 3 years (and after scans etc)I was transferred onto T4 only therapy. This is when I became really ill. Fast forward to now, and this is what brings me to this wonderful place. I am so grateful to Sheila who I feel has helped me more than anyone I can remember in the last few years. Due to getting nowhere with my NHS endo, increasing and decreasing doses of T4, adding in a little T3 again, never feeling better, never being listened too, having to ask for various tests - one being Vitamin D and being told this was " lower normal " and not treated for it - to find out the level was 12 at my next appointment etc, I decided to see a private endo and have started on Armour Thyroid. I contacted Sheila a few weeks back as I was told Armour was discontinued - which we know now that Forest Pharmaceuticals have stopped importing to the UK, so with Sheilas help I have decided to switch to ERFA and have ordered some from an online pharmacy (my private prescription was for Armour). I am still waiting for the ERFA to arrive, but it is still early days for me and I'm not yet on my optimal dose, so I hope you don't mind if I pop in soon to ask questions. Thank you so much again to Sheila and TPA - I have done a lot of reading on here and everyone seems very helpful and friendly and willing to offer REAL help to people suffering. Guest guest
Hello Terijo You appear to have a lot of things going on here that are complicating your life and as you realise, need sorting. First, I would check on the information we have in our 'Nutrition' FOLDER in the FILES section of this forum that you will find here as I am sure you will find a possible answer - thyroid treatment/files/DIETS%20and%20Nutrition/ .. Read particularly Theodora's rythmonutrition protocol.pdf about WHAT to eat, WHEN to eat and with portion sizes for more convenience. You can adapt your personal preferences to this guide. With this approach, insulin sensitivity improves, and we all know well that this is central to weight loss/maintenance as well as the prevention of inflammation/cardiovascular disease among other things. Luv - Sheila I literally cannot eat enough vegetables to fill myself up. I don't know what to do about this other than to eat meat/eggs and dairy. And nuts. I eat raw pecans all day long. When I was vegetarian/vegan I starved and pumped myself full of tofu just to not 'be starving'. There is some blood sugar aspect though it seems to be not a problem as long as I do not eat anything starchy (lima beans the other day shot up my blood sugar) or more than a couple wedges of apple. There is no doubt in my mind that if I ate breads, etc., I would be a diabetic.
Guest guest
Thanks very much! I cannot get any of the links to work, though. It says 'document not found' in each case.
Guest guest
Hi Terijo - not sure why the links don't work for you as I have just clicked on both of them and both opened fine. However, instead, go to the FILES SECTION of this forum that you can access from the Home Page and scroll down to the Folder entitled 'Diets and Nutrition' and read the information there. thyroid treatment/files/DIETS%20and%20Nutrition/ ..
