Guest guest
Hi Trisha, Niacin is not part of the iodine protocol. The ATP CoFactors are optional. I personally take niacin sublingually a few times a day because it is so good for me. I don't mind the flush, I actually like it as I feel it's a healthy reaction. (My opinion only, others may not feel this way.) I am a Gerson Person, and niacin is one of the vitamins Max Gerson, MD felt was very important for good health. Best, Kathleen * Niacin versus Niacinamide ?? Hi,There are SO many links!!!In one of them addressing the primary advised supplements (to take with iodine), it cites: Vitamin C, Selenium & Magnesium. Then I came across another one - but can't readily find IT.Is niacin highly recommended as well - or is it imperative? Is THIS also because niacin induces perspiration and sweating, and thus, aids in the detoxification of halogens. Finally to verify, is it Niacin which is advised - correct, and NOT Niacinamide? I read that Niacin induces flushing and not niacinamide;although, it also said that niacinamide in (higher doses ?) CAN induce sweating too?Pleases provide some further clarifcation of the above regarding 1) just HOW VITAL Niacin IS when taking iodine, and 2) the most important points to know re: Niacin and/or niacinamide - with respect to iodine and detoxification of halogens.Thank you, Trisha
Guest guest
Kathleen, Thank you. BTW, there is a physician whom Wolfe touts as THE most authority on detoxification (maybe a stretch, but... ) who advocates high doses (up to one's toleration, adding that most won't have much toleration) of niacin, and to then go into a sauna (preferably infrared). At any rate, it's in my files somewhere, I'd have to look it up - but rough day and just too tired at the moment. Still, I have good reason to BELIEVE that niacin can play a major, supplementary way to enhance detoxification - and I plan to use IT (in sauna and steam room both)! Guest guest
I read somewhere that if you flush you are having an allergic reaction. My lips felt numb and felt swollen when i took a second tablet by accident. Do you feel that? diane, near philly, pa On Oct 18, 2011, at 8:06 PM, Kathleen Blake wrote: Hi Trisha, Niacin is not part of the iodine protocol. The ATP CoFactors are optional. Guest guest
There are natural practitioners that use it for detoxing. It may have been a detox too. The flush is a release of histamine. Guest guest
Hi Diane, The interesting thing is sometimes I feel the flush and turn a bit red and feel the tingling/numb sensation, sometimes I don't feel a thing. I like the flush because I feel it is really working and I know how good niacin is for the body. Kathleen * Niacin versus Niacinamide ?? Guest guest
A flush is *not* an allergic reaction. Do not take Benedryl or anything for it except lots of water.http://www.doctoryourself.com/niacin.html If you're taking a pure vitamin in capsules, without allergens, then it's probably not allergic reaction. Since niacin is a B Vitamin required by body, it's highly unlikely you are allergic to *it*. -- Peace . . . Hawkridgein a NE Seattle 'burb Messages in this topic (3) 4a.
