Guest guest
Are you taking the unrefined salt daily, you didn’t mention it. Also, the average thyroid puts out 3 to 5 grains of thyroid hormone daily; 2 grains is very low; being thyroidless perhaps you need more NTH? I would make sure I was drinking half my body weight in ounces of pure water daily; you could be dehydrated. Thanks for sharing your good results with iodine so far. Best, Kathleen Stomach upset, dry mouth with thirst Our Supplements arrived first so we started taking them daily with food. My 16 yo daughter and I both experienced stomach upset, including not producing as much acid. Taking a Betaine HCl 648 mg prior to each meal has helped. The supplements we're taking are: Ester-C 2000 mg, Magnesium Clycinate 400 mg, Selenium 200 mcg, and a B-50 Complex. Whenever we lay off the supplements (and so of course we stop the iodine too) the stomach pain and lack of acid issues goes away. I was wondering if anyone knew what we might do about this? As I really want to continue taking iodine. The next thing that happened is that after starting the iodine I got very thirsty and experienced dry mouth at night. I wake up at night and my tongue is dry and I'm terribly thirsty. Even on days I don't take the iodine I experience this. Any ideas? I followed 's recipe for 5%. In his comments it says "6.25 mg per drop" but there is also mention of 70 drops per teaspoon, and every dropper we have in the house gave 140 drops per teaspoon, so I've been taking 13 drops per dose which I figured at roughly 42.25 mg, and I've been taking that amount 3 times per day.Any ideas on the thirst and dry mouth? I've had very little detox symptoms - a headache one night that the salt protocol took care of, and three pimples on my face in the first week of taking iodine (I thought they were detox related because they were different from what I typically got). I also take 2 grains Naturethroid and 5 mg Biotin first thing in the morning (but I've been doing that for a long time). I have no thyroid. My results so far (that I know of, I figure on the inside wonderful things are happening) since taking iodine have been mostly in my skin. My hands look at least 15 years younger, it's amazing the difference is so great, and I haven't broken out at all on my chest, not once, since starting iodine. All five of us have much softer skin since taking iodine. My husband works in the Arctic circle and used to have a terrible problem with split skin on his fingers from going from warm to cold to warm to cold, but has hardly any now. Guest guest
Kathleen, Thank you for your input. No, I'm not taking the salt daily. I thought the salt protocol was to be used when there were symptoms of detox. I haven't had my thyroid levels checked in quite awhile, it could be I need more. Have you ever heard of thirst being a symptom of low thyroid hormones? Any idea what I can do about the stomach upset from the supplements?I've been off the iodine for three days now, still have thirst and dry mouth. Guest guest
Hi Rhea, The Salt Protocol is only to be done when you are having detox symptoms. However, unrefined Celtic Sea Salt daily ( 1/2 to 1 tsp ) is part of the Iodine Protocol. This can be taken in warm water , soup, however you like. It is also advised to use the salt liberally on food throughout the day. Please read the New Member doc you were sent when you joined. If you didn’t save it, go to Files, New Member doc., then Commonly Asked Questions. The companion nutrients are listed there and you will see that unrefined Celtic Sea Salt should be ingested daily. There are so many symptoms for hypothyroid that thirst could very well be one of them, although I have never experienced that myself. Being thyroidless as you are, I would suggest you have your Ft3 and Ft4 tested. Make sure you take your iodine and supplements with food and that should ease your tummy . Guest guest
I haven't had my blood sugar checked in many years. The only medication I take is the Naturethroid. I just called my neighbor and she's going to check my blood sugar for me. So I'll have an answer on that soon. Thank you for asking. I knew it was a diabetes symptom, but it wasn't until I read your post that it occurred to me my neighbor could check my blood sugar. Guest guest
It wasn't a fasting test, as I'd eaten some bacon and one chocolate chip cookie this morning. The result was 85. My neighbor (EMT and nursing student) said that was within normal. Tomorrow morning we're going to check it again for a " fasting " level. I'm going to start back on the iodine today. I doubt the thirst has anything to do with the iodine. I read that it could be a mineral imbalance, so I'll look into getting a trace mineral supplement. Maybe that will help. Thank you all for your help! : )On Thu, Nov 3, 2011 at 11:20 AM, jcd in es <jcdines@...> wrote: The good news is that iodine appears to reverse diabetes as well!!!! Guest guest
Actually Potassium Iodide, two thirds of lugols is known for increasing body fluid production, ie tears, saliva , thins mucus, congestion. etc. I have been taking 220mgs of lugols about eight months, there is an adjustment period, where it seemed I was thirsty a lot, but like my TSH went up for a spell, it leveled out at 2. I was in southern Indiana, driving, when a family member became ill So I got a good nights sleep, I double dosed on potassium iodide, as I know it keeps my brain active, so I take 440mgs just before leaving, arrived in wes tex eighteen hours later, 1200 mile drive, I was pleased. I did begin to see buggers about an hour out. But still felt very alert, good stuff, I have used provogil for long drives, and iodide did every bit as well and not to worry, no sides, I am working up a list of specifics that elemental/molecular iodine and potassium iodide do specifically, ie, I know elemental iodine kills cancer fifty percent better than p iodide, etc, if anyone knows of such a list, please advise, when you have time, thanks a million, david lubbock tx. david lubbock tx. > > > ** > > > > > > ** > > Are you taking the unrefined salt daily, you didn't mention it. Guest guest
Yes , thats what I be saying, lugols is composed of one part elemental iodine, and two parts potassium iodide, that is a standard lugols recipe as I make it. Of course add purified water and you have it, One drug company is starting clinical breast cancer trials, they are going to use elemental iodine only, no P iodide w/ it. I have leukemia, so I take elemental iodine first out of the bed mornings, then two hours later I take the P iodide, making a total of lugols, I tried for eight days to take only elemental iodine, but I began feeling different, strange, so I began taking the P iodide behind it, smoothed things out for me, I charge the elemental in a cayce machine, it is hot, and cannot be mixed with P iodide as it looses it charge within about two hours, so I bottle them seperate, P iodide is of course made with water, elemental I make with ethyl alcohol, which helps it hold a charge for about ninety days, david lubbock tx. Guest guest
Awesome, thanks. Now, I just ordered 180 Iodoral tablets, do I take both? Alternate? Just one? I spent $31 for 180 tabs, and I see 4 oz of 2.2% liquid on eBay for $9, so I will get that too, if one should not take them together I will take the tabs till they're done then switch to the liquid. Please advise? I am really totally new to all of this. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ Pragmatic Visionary http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- Re: Stomach upset, dry mouth with thirst Yes , thats what I be saying, lugols is composed of one part elemental iodine, and two parts potassium iodide, that is a standard lugols recipe as I make it. Guest guest
I take Iodoral daily and also take Lugol's daily in water. It is fine to mix them. Guest guest
Thanks. I was hoping so, this way I can take the 12.5 (well, 25 as I will take 2) from the pills and supplement it with the liquid. I figure that way I can find my optimum dose much more easily. Guest guest
Hi ,I started to make my own iodine (several months ago, too!)So, just to clarify ..... you are ingesting the 2 different ingredients (potassium iodide and the iodine crystals) separately? You mix them with water .......? My experience with these two ingredients is that they start to interact with what ever they come in 'contact' with.Hence the recommendation to store in glass. If I understand you correctly .... you have a batch of LugolsAND you also have a mixture of each of the 2 ingredients thatyou then take separately? If so, do you have any problems with 'burning and or discoloration?'These questions will probably only make sense to those who havemade their own Lugols.THNX for sharing what you know as well as your experiences! Guest guest
The best price I have seen for Iodoral 180 count, 12.5mg tablets, is $28.50 at www.pureformulas.com and the shipping is free. Unfortunately, they don't ship outside the USA. Peace and gratitude, Dean ========================================================== > > E-bay. Guest guest
The Lugol's gives the mouth, esophagus, and stomach a chance to take what they all can absorb whereas the Iodoral tablet will slip on through down into the intestines where it releases its payload. Lugol's is more versatile too in that it can be inhaled or used topically. Also it is cheaper, especially so if you brew your own. I haven't heard of anyone injecting it but that might be a possibility too.
