Guest guest
Hiya Everyone, My " journey " started in October 2010 when I started to have the shakes, sweating, etc, strangely weight gain as well. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and a goitre and put on carbimazole which didn't work. By end of April 2011 I was booked in and had my thyroid removed, all went well with the op and now the docs don't seem to give a hoot how I feel. I have major weight gain, 2 and half stone since April, half a stone in the last month, hair loss, aching body, foggy brain I have to make a list for everything, tiredness, I am also sweating for no reason feel hot but temp is low, really bloated stomach I feel pregnant, breathless and find it hard to get a full breath. I was put on 100 mcg Levothyroxine in April and told to got to the docs for bloods to get checked about 4 weeks later. The first week of June I dragged myself to the docs, my TSH came back at 14 and the Levo was increased to 125mcg. I was then told to come back in 3 months. I phoned the start of August to ask for a check up and was told no and that the lab would refuse to test because it hadn't been 3 months, I knew he was lying but he wouldn't listen and didn't care about any symptoms I was having. The test eventually in September showed my TSH was 2.22. I phoned to speak to a Dr and asked what my T3 levels were and was told they didn't get tested, talked them eventually into testing that. The results were TSH 3.98, Free Thyroxine 17.6, Total T3 1.3. He said I was verging on being hypo and to get another blood test in a few months. I told him all my symptoms but he didn't want to listen and told him the meds weren't working. I am going to make an appt next week to speak to a female doctor that I think I may have some more luck with. I know there are loads of different things that they really should be checking for and aren't but how do you get them to test if they refuse point blank. I don't really like to argue with them but I know the way I'm feeling and having no-one listen that I am going to get a bit stroppy if they blank me, I will try to avoid that because I know it won't help but the docs are just so frustrating. Thanks for reading. Diane
