Guest guest
I clicked on the link, and then decided to check out the Lugol's and want to order some. They had this on the same page, has anyone every heard of it, and do you think it's the real thing? It doesn't seem to need a prescription, so I'm not sure if it really could be natural thyroid. It's called NAtural Sources, Raw Thyroid, 90 capsules for $15.49http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B00014DQGU/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_1?ie=UTF8 & index=1 Also, which is a better deal, twin pack of 2 oz bottles of 2% Lugol's for 16.99 or 1 x 5% bottle for 29.99? Both are free shipping. I have Prime. Now I'm wondering though, are these products that they sell as Crowe's actually made by a company named Crowe's? Or are independent folks just mixing up the Lugol's and selling it with that label on amazon.com? After reading the reviews, I saw that someone mentions the 2 oz bottles have the wrong measurements on it. Here is a copy and past of what it says: 26 of 29 people found the following review helpful: Iodine for health, January 29, 2011 By clark Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Lugol's Iodine Solution(2 oz.) Twin Pack(2 bot.) (Health and Beauty) UPDATED REVIEW The dosage information is wrong in the product description as it states one vertical drop is 3.25 mg of Iodine. The dosage that is shown under the product description is for Lugol's 5% solution. One drop of Lugol's 2% is 1.65mg of Iodine per vertical drop, which shows how woefully inadequate the current Recommended Daily Allowance is, since one vertical drop is equal to a little more than 10 days of Iodine per the RDA. The calculation for the vertical dosage in iodine is as follows: The " United States Pharmaceutical ( " USP " ) standard for Iodine and Potassium Iodide in iodine solutions " " Iodine topical solution two percent U.S.P. is defined as having in each 100 ml [milliliters], not less than 1.8 grams and not more than 2.2 grams of iodine, and not less than 2.1 grams and not more than 2.6 grams of [potassium] iodide in water. " The following calculations are for the average of the range, which could vary by 10% either way and still be compliant: 100 ml = 4.125 grams (g) of iodine 100 ml = 4,125 mg of iodine 1 ml = 41.25 mg of iodine 1 ml = 25 vertical drops (this was my measurement; a bottle should contain a total of 59.15 x 25 vertical drops = 1,479 vertical drops per 2 fluid ounce bottle) 1 vertical drop = 1.65 mg of Iodine For comparison to Iodoral tablets, the 2 fluid ounce bottle has 59.15 ml of solution containing 2,440 mg of Iodine or about 195 Iodoral 12.5 mg tablets. OLD REVIEW below: This product is the same formula that was invented in 1829 and is terrific for supplementing health. At 150 micrograms, the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance is woefully insufficient to sustain healthy humans. Japanese daily consumption is on average over 8,500% (13milligrams) more than what the U.S. population is supposed to ingest. The japanese also smoke more than americans, spend much less on health care, and are more densely populated. Despite this they have 10 times less obesity, many times less occurrence of almost all types of cancer, circulatory disease, and other types of disease. While iodine is commonly commented on for thyroid necessity it also good for mental acuity and is necessary for many other unknown reasons. Guest guest
I'm currently taking the Natural Sources thyroid capsules. I also take 100 mg/day of iodoral and the companion nutrients... most of the time, I managed to run out of vitamin C this week. I am a breast cancer survivor. Went through chemo/surgery/rads and 26 months of tamoxifen. Gave up on doctors in 08 after literally years of complaining about fatigue and not having success finding someone locally who's worth a copay in regard to thyroid health. I can say the over the counter products help somewhat in boosting my energy levels, if I take the maximum dose listed on the label. I've been on the iodine protocol for nearly 3 years and still feel like I'm wading through molasses most of the time. I have an appointment two weeks from today with a DO who I hope will give me a scrip for naturethroid. I felt like crap after treatments. Finally started feeling good about a year ago (treatments were in 05), and I'm aiming for great. If naturethroid doesn't take me there, I'm going to be so disappointed. Natural Sources brand has been sold for many years in health food stores. If one is hypothyroid they really need something like Naturethroid or the Canadian Erfa.
