Hi,

depending on where it is it might be a lymph node - they pop up from time to

time and can be found all over your body. they do get tender if you are under

the weather but usually go down in a week or two. I wouldn't worry but obviously

try to resist poking it as this will prolong it going down and it will continue

to be tender.

Hope that helps

Dawn

Hi

Could the swelling be cystic? Any lumps and bumps around your neck should be checked out. Pretty common and usually benign but to be sure have the doctor look at your neck.over.

Jaki big to be a lymph node - clearly visible from a couple of feet away and exquisitely tender.Ddepending on where it is it might be a lymph node > nudge > Lump going down now but neck still feeling tender and uncomfortable. Any ideas anyone?> > D>

The

endos will not go above 30mcg. They are concerned that I am hyper at this

level, with FT3 mid-range. I quite happily went up to 40mcg last summer and felt

great, but I had a big hair fall and pulled back. I would like support from

them to go for an increase but it will not be forthcomin

Those Endo's you are seeing Dolly who say they won't go above

30mcgs because they are concerned you will go hyper should be asking you how

you, much more importantly, how you are feeling and not treating a piece of

paper only. In real terms, for those on T3 only, 30mcgs is a tiny dose. They

should also know that free T3 has to be in the upper third of the reference

range to be normal. Hair loss can most definitely be related to both

hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, but treatment usually stops further fall

out after a while.

There are, however, many other conditions that cause hair loss. In

one study, it was found that 90% of women with thinning hair were deficient in

iron and the amino acid lysine. Lysine is the most difficult amino acid to get

enough of via diet. Lysine helps transport iron, which is the most important

element in the body and essential for many metabolic processes. When lysine and

iron levels are low, the body probably switches some hair follicles off to

increase levels elsewhere. Did you know that meat, fish and eggs are the only

food sources of lysine.

Have you ever used Evening Primrose Oil as many claim this was

the only supplement that stopped their hair loss. You can buy Evening

Primrose Oil, 1350 mgs from your local health food store or Internet Pharmacies

such is www.iherb.com

The thing about testing for antibodies is that if the test coincided

with a lack of action by the antibodies your results would show nil, but at

other times, when they were active (if, of course you have any) they would show

high. So having results saying you had no antibodies at that time doesn't mean

you will never have any.

If you are not able to tolerate iron supplements, are you eating

foods that are really high in iron and just as important, are you taking high

doses of vitamin C e.g. 2/3000or even 4000mgs daily.

Luv - Sheila

Vitamin B12, vitamin D3 and folate are fine as are adrenals now.

The admin at our local hospital is chaotic to say the least. I have a complaint

into PALS at the moment because the endo's secretary told me that they can no

longer respond to e mails from patients! I feel another recorded delivery

letter coming on!

I spent this afternoon with a fan on full blast, walked briskly 30 minutes home

and checked BP (107/74), pulse (79) and temp 36.1 so I'm not hyper, but boy am

I hot! No heating on here now.
