Guest guest
Hi Joyce and all, Has anyone used a diluted liquid iodine for a mouthwash? Just wondering if this would be beneficial and what dilution would be good. Thanks, Melody On 10/29/2011 9:55 AM, Joyce S wrote: > Thank you for this information. I have a doggie with terrible breath at times. A really relevant site explained how Sune Wikner & Roland Fastberg found the abilities of Ascophyllum Nodosum to reduce placque, etc. It is at http://www.plaqueoff.com/for-animals/animals. There is a link at the side leading to a wikipedia site which has info on the seaweed itself which is at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascophyllum_nodosum. (I like to hunt down what are the wholistic herbs at the base of isolated factors as I believe one is much better served to have the whole product, except in special circumstances.) This may be of interest to others too who like the " whole story " !! Not quite Harvey, but we like to know! The Oregon's Wild Harvest organic kelp is a higher concentration of Ascophyllum (not on the label - but they told me it's approx 900 mg iodine per capsule), so yes I count it into the amount of iodine I take from other sources. >> >> HTH, >> Lynda >> > > > > ------------------------------------ > > Owner: Buist, ND HC > Moderators: Baker, Kathleen Blake, Donna Iler, Linn > > All off topic posts should go to the IodineOT group IodineOT/ > > > The NEW MEMBER DOCUMENT (#1 on the list) iodine/files/01%20NEW%20MEMBERS%20-%20READ%\ 20FIRST/
Guest guest
Hi Melody, When I take my Lugol's in water, I always swish it around in my mouth a bit before swallowing, as yes, it is good for the mouth to have a bit of iodine . Guest guest
Melody: the tissues of the mouth are highly vascular -- lots of capillaries, very close to the skin surface -- so it's a good environment for absorbing medications, and some are formulated specifically to be taken by being dissolved under the tongue or between gum and cheek. There's no problem with a dilute iodine mouthwash, and for topical purposes (temporarily treating an open cut, or treating a problem like thrush} it might be a therapy of choice. The only issue would be the length of time the solution is in contact with the skin determines the degree of absorbtion (if any) versus straightforward topical effect. Don't know if there is any hard and fast rules to follow on dilution; I'd suggest perhaps 2 drops of 5% in about an ounce or two of warmish water. NB: a recent thread mentioned a minor degree of tooth staining from oral iodine, and I would have to assume that if this is indeed a problem, the stronger the concentration and the more frequent the use, the more apparent the more staining might be. In any event it doesn't seem to be a high-level issue. Trust this helps. Regards, Megaera > >> Hi Margee, > >> > >> We actually took the Plaque Off for dogs It worked brilliantly.
