Try this:

http://www.plymouthhospitals.nhs.uk/ourservices/healthcareprofessionalsguide/Doc\

uments/Plymouth%20Handbook%20Sept%202007.pdf

if u scroll thru, it does have ref ranges in - am assuming that all plymouth

hospitals have the same ref ranges, tho that is a big assumption!

Looks like it might be the right one:

http://www.plymouthhospitals.nhs.uk/ourservices/healthcareprofessionalsguide/Pag\

es/Microbiology.aspx

The Microbiology Department is located on Level 5 of Derriford Hospital, and

processes more than 340,000 specimens a year from hospital and General Practice

patients. We provide a 24/7 service, and also have a Food, Water and

Environmental laboratory which analyses samples for the Local Authorities and

the food industry. We are involved in a number of research projects, covering

areas such as antibiotic resistance, rapid MRSA testing, and PVL Staph aureus.

The Department employs 50 people, including medical, biomedical scientist,

administrative and ancillary staff

How can they NOT know reference ranges - how can they interpret serum

tests without a reference range. How do they know whether your results are at

the bottom, the middle, the top or even outside of the reference range.

Telephone the hospital laboratory and ask them for these where you had your

blood tested. Doctors, nurses, laboratory staff cannot withhold these from you

under the Data protection Act 1998, so don't allow them to try to pull the wool

over your eyes. Be firm, but polite and let them know you need the results and

the reference range for all tests you have had done.
