Donna in IL Hello Pam,Thank you for your response. Yes, I am new to this group and am also a member of a thyroid group. I understand you are using a natural thyroid hormone. My mother is hypo as well and I want to get her started on a NTH. She is currently on Synthroid. I am wanting to try NP by Acella but I am yet to find a Dr.to prescribe NTH for me. I want to start with the iodine asap. I need to know where to start. I like the idea you suggested of applying it to the skin. What a great group! What a blessing to find such caring people. Many of us here do take NTH ( I take Naturethroid), however, this is a group about iodine ; the best place to get information about NTH is www.stopthethyroidmadness.com . I have heard that Acella is not a generic form of NTH, but a new brand and that some pharmacies carry it. Again, the best place to get answers to your NTH is on the Stop the thyroid Madness site. I can not see the previous correspondence in my email when I reply to a post but it looks as if it is showing the previous letter I am replying to when it is shown in the thread. I have looked through the STTM website but I am still wondering a few things. Is there a consensus among the participants as to what NTH works best. Where do you get the Acella brand? If I understand, it is a generic form as opposed to say Naturethroid. What are the dosing options? Some say to do the sublinqual. Some pills may need to be halfed? Many of us here have never had the loading test and just started straightaway on iodine since most humans are very iodine deficient. Of course it is up to you whether you do the test or not, but just wanted to let you know that it is not necessary. I am very interested in taking the Iodoral but I guess I need to do an iodine loading test first. I am sub clinical hypothyroid so I am thinking I would like to try the Iodoral before going the NTH route. I enjoy reading the posts and am trying to learn. Thank you again.
