Guest guest
One year ago my wife, who is hypothyroid, was prescribed NAX----3 a day following a saliva test which showed poor cortisol production. She also takes T3 only. During the past 12 months we noticed that her BP was rising and approaching dangerous levels and she was prescribed medication for that, which didn't help greatly. Also during this period her hypothyroidism didn't improve much. One week ago she decided that she had been on NAX long enough and stopped it all together. Amazingly her BP has dropped dramatically and is now normal. She feels better than she has for many months. We are pretty sure that the NAX was responsible for the rise and wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience. She also recently has had her T3 first dose increased and time of taking it adjusted. This seems to be sufficient to allow proper utisation of cortisol production. I wonder how many more people are potentially damaging their cardiovascular system because they have been encouraged to use adrenal hormones when they don't really need them. Guest guest
As I understand it, Nutri Adrenal and Nutri Adrenal Extra provide support for the adrenals, but do not contain adrenal hormones. This is why they can be marketed as nutritional supplements. http://www.nutri-online1.co.uk/Patients/Products/GlandularFormulas/tabid/653/Def\ ault.aspx How about writing to Nutri themselves to ask how taking 3 NAX per day could have raised your wife's blood pressure? I had a rise in blood pressure when taking T3, but I wasn't taking much in the way of NA or NAX. Are you sure it is not the change in dosage and schedule of the T3 which has solved the problem, rather than dropping the NAX? If the thyroid medication was not correct before then the adrenals would have been under stress. It is always confusing when you change two factors at once. Some people can take handfuls of NA and NAX without any apparent effect, so I don't believe they are powerful or dangerous.
