Guest guest
HI JOT, There is a lot to read in this link, but I can see some of my symptoms in Oestrogen Deficiency and some in Progresterone Deficiency. I had one specialist wanting to prescribe Oestrogen, but not only have I had breast cancer, but Fibroids would not be helped with Oestrogen either, but in turn I think having Oestrogen would not be helpful to the fact of taking T4 and T3. The specialist was insistant on Oestrogen and not Progresterone when I suggested it. Even when I reminded him that I had, had breast cancer all I got was even so that he would still prescribe it. When I was first prescibed Oestrogen Cream I suffered bad pelvic pain in fact the GP received an angry call from me the next day, but eventually after using this cream only a few times a week he eventually took me off it myself when another fibroid was located. There are natural sources of Oestrogen in some foods, so is there any natural foods that contain progresterone, and lets face it they cannot tell us what to eat. Some of the symptoms of Oestrogen deficiency could also be due to Hypthyroidism. Guest guest
If you are taking bioidentical testosterone, you need to be careful of DHEA since it turns into testosterone. DHEA is fine to take within reason, for women they should be taking small amounts 5 mgs to 10 mgs every other day or 3 times a week. If you are taking bioidentical testosterone also, you should only use one drop a week on this program. Your progesterone was high in these labs, I remember you mentioned you had been taking quite a bit of it before the test so it showed up being very high. Many people are scared to death of estradiol because of the breast cancer scare but this is not much of a problem with bioidentical estradiol. It must be taken with progesterone in most cases. Bioidentical progesterone and estradiol must be taken together and progesterone needs to be stopped for one week of the month. As far as I know DHEA levels in women should be about 150. Everyone should be supplementing with iodine, we have a severe deficiency of this going on world wide. I'd start with 6.25 mgs of lugol's drops or iodoral tablets and keep it there. You must also take the iodine protocol with the iodine and best to start this at least 2 weeks before you start the iodine. Every day: 400-800 mgs magnesium 1/2 teaspoon celtic sea salt in glass of water 200 mcgs selenium 3-5000 mgs of Vitamin C I highly suggest Jeff Dach's new book or JOhn Lee's book: http://www.amazon.com/-Lees-Hormone-Balance-Simple/dp/044669438X/ref=sr_1_1?\ s=books & ie=UTF8 & qid=1317402024 & sr=1-1 Check to see if this book is available on google book reader for free. Cheers, JOT I'm post menopausal. I had started taking DHEA but then noticed you said we shouldn't be doing that, so stopped. My gynaecologist didn't seem to think my levels were wonky but I do, from the way I feel. I also had very knotty breasts (they were like empty sacs of skin with no body to them and just lumps) and that seems to have cleared since I started NDT though they still aren't as " full " as they should be. (should I be taking some iodine as well as some other women are doing?). > I wonder if any of you would please comment on these sex hormone results and tell me what I should be using or doing? > LH 16.4 (postmenopause 10.8-61.4) > FSH 79.2 " 18-125) > 17 Beta Estradiol <5 " 28-88) > Progesterone 0.8 " 0.1-0.8 > Testosterone 0.1 " 0.1-0.8 > DHEAS 76.3 " 7-177 > Prolactin 4.7 (3.3-26.7) > > Thank you and best wishes > > > > > > > > > Common Signs of Estrogen Deficiency (4) > > > > Mental fogginess > > Forgetfulness > > Depression > > > > http://jdach1.typepad.com/blog/ > > > > > > Cheers, > > JOT > > >
Guest guest
Thank you! Yes, I'd been using the natural progesterone cream for a while before the test. I'd stopped using the estrogen cream because of all the scare about it, but I now realise that I needed it. I'm not on testosterone. Would I be better off taking a pill with all these things in it or not? Would I get enough iodine from sea kelp? I could start the drops - I'm already taking 1/2 tsp sea salt, 800mg magnesium (I was very low), 2000 vit C and 100mcg selenium (will up those two, plus B complex, B12 (I'm vegetarian, level was very low), CoQ10, iron and was taking Zinc too but my zinc level is now 99 (50-110) so do I still need to take it? Thanks for the book suggestion- I'll look it up. best wishes > > If you are taking bioidentical testosterone, you need to be careful of DHEA since it turns into testosterone. Guest guest
Hi A: I don't know that there is a PILL you can take with all the sex hormones in it. But I suppose you could have a pharmacist make one up for you, but still, we fluctuate so it's not the best way for dosing hormones. Entering the body through the skin is probably the better way. Kelp is no longer a good thing to take and we advise against it. Kelp which grows in the sea is a bottom grower and it is the bottom where we find heavy metals. Our oceans are contaminated now so we don't know what you may get in those tablets...either way, I don't think it's worth the chance. How were you supplementing zinc? Was it by itself? Your zinc levels are good now so you still need to supplement but I would supplement with Spirulina rather than the individual zinc tablets. Look through the Spirulina Pacifica products, and read all the ingredients. The senior supplement is good and they have a regular supplement and then one specifically for men and one for women. Anyone who is taking sex hormones should be taking Spirulina. Anyone who is on birth control pills should be taking Spirulina. Ok, lets just leave it at everyone on the planet should be taking Spirulina. :0) Cheers, JOT Would I be better off taking a pill with all these things in it or not? > Would I get enough iodine from sea kelp? Guest guest
I was taking a product called Frutein by Nature's Plus, ingredients in link below. It has all the B vitamins, minerals, enzymes and green food blend which provides a tiny amount of iodine (225mcg. I've just noticed it has both zinc and spirulina, so that's probably why my zinc level went up so quickly. I stopped taking it because my vitamin D3 level was over the top on my last blood test - we've had a good summer here and I was always in the sun from Spring onwards, so I should have known not to continue supplementing D. So at the moment I'm taking separate supplements. http://www.naturesplus.com/products/productdetail.asp?productNumber=45863 I've also been totally gluten free for nearly two months and have noticed a big difference in energy levels, digestion, sleep and general overall improvement, so presume it has helped. I'm amazed at how much better I feel. I have new hair growing on the sides of my hairline where it was disappearing and my hair is softer, hair appearing on my legs (never thought I'd see the day when I was happy to see hair on my legs), my face is almost back to normal (I had very swollen bridge of nose and eye area), my eyes are not red and inflamed,I'm sleeping again, I've lost all the weight I had gained, my brain fog has gone, my night vision has improved,my skin isn't like snakeskin anymore, and - something that isn't mentioned on hypothyroid symptoms lists, but which both I and my son have ( " had " in my case because it's gone!) - neck pain. I used to suffer terribly with neck pain and could hardly sleep properly because of that too, and it bothered me during the day too - I wore a scarf round my neck to protect it. Now that's gone too! So I can't really complain, but, apart from the sex hormones, I still have problems with swollen feet and ankles, and with tingling and numbness in my hands at night. My hands are also swollen all the time, though not noticeably so like my ankles, and they're warm and reddish. What would be the cause of that? Any remedies? My feet swell more towards late afternoon/evening, and I can't wear any of my shoes, which worries me with winter coming. Before my ankles would swell up like balloons only when I travelled - on planes or trains or anywhere I had to sit still for long. Now it's constant. Thanks and best wishes > > Hi A:> > > How were you supplementing zinc? Was it by itself? Guest guest
Hi A: Congrats on the protein drink/spirulina...it is so helpful in so many ways ! Most people don't understand the wonders of these protein drinks when in reality they do enormous good for us. I actually just ordered a new blender bottle today..... with the Frutein, I'd be careful of the soy...soy is not so good for thyroid problems but it seems to have been helping you so much so perhaps it doesn't effect you. I also am not thrilled with the lethicin. If these are not upsetting your digestive system, than I'd let it be. Whether these two things are involved with the swelling, I don't know. Soy does negatively effect estrogen levels. Since you are so low on estradiol, I'd wonder whether that is effecting this. There are so many reasons for swelling of hands and feet. My first suggestion would be to drink more celtic sea salt. The good salt removes excess fluid in the system although most people think salt causes swelling. It actually helps the water to leave the body. Then, I'd make sure you are taking 2 teaspoons a day of organic vinegar in a glass of water ( I do this with my CSS, tastes great )....Remember that both magnesium and Vitamin C will reduce inflammation and so will wild oil of oregano. Dr Jarvis likes organic honey, so if you can take sweets, you may try that also with the vinegar. WOO is great for applying drops on the source of inflammation. It also absorbs quickly through the feet.
