Guest guest
I was about 3/4 of the way through Dr Brownstein's book today when my 12 mg Iodoral came in the mail. I couldn't reisist starting it today. I had the 24 hour iodine loading test about 7 years ago and it was 80%, but I'm sure I " m worse now. I took two 12 mg tabs with breakfast today and one 12 mg tab at lunch. (36 mg total) I am very tired with a headache, stiff neck and shoulders, burning eyes, sleepy.... i took some extra Vit C (5000 mg powder), some extra sea salt, and even a bath with epsom salts. Didn't help. Just a little history on me. I've had AF for at least 7 years, but have only been on HC since June 2011. (22 mg a day) Started NTH August 2011.(62 mg of Nature throid each day) I had all of my amalgam fillings replaced 6 years ago and went through chelation therapy to get rid of the mercury. I had candida and some nasty parasites at the same time and got rid of them as well. I did have some absorption issues that were recently discovered so I've been off gluten for 8 months now and that seems to be improving as well. (I was positive for one of the Celiac genes, but don't know for sure if I have Celiacs disease) Taking many supplements (UltraInflamX, probiotics, vit C, B complex, vit D, digestive enzymes, pantothenic acid, herbal supplement for sex hormones, krill oil). I had Hashi's back when I still had the mercury, but have not been positive for it in the past 5 years. Should I slow down on the amount of Iodoral I'm taking or give it a couple days? I'm about to go back into the fiiles and try the salt loading protocol. I'm guessing that I'm detoxing Bromine. What do you guys think? If I start feeling better should I go up to 50 mg? If I end up doing the iodine loading test, how long do I have to be off of the iodine to take it? Thanks MJ
Guest guest
you might feel a lot better on 50mg Iodoral (which youcan take all at once). you are also on a tiny amount of NT, a starter dose. you can't dose NT by TSH test. Guest guest
Are you also taking the companion nutrients? You did mention vit C and salt, but not the others; they are essential. And when you feel that way, definitely salt load right away! Remember that the goal is to nourish and heal your body, which has been sick for a long time. As Gracia said, you might want to try 50mg right away, or stay where you are and salt load. Good liver support will help also, because you want to flush out the toxins quickly. Milk thistle, Dandelion Root, and NAC will help your liver work to clear out toxins faster. This was only day one, don’t give up! Guest guest
I was worried that I might feel worse by taking more, but I guess it is better to " power through " this part of it to get rid of the bromine. What are the other companion nutrients besides the B vitamins, vit C, and sea salt? I'm not done with the book yet, but I think he mentions Selenium and Mg. Any others? Thanks so much for your help. I felt a little better yesterday after taking more sea salt but forgot to bring the sea salt to work, so now I feel like crap again. Does this detoxing part only take days or weeks? mj (in Chicago!) > > Are you also taking the companion nutrients? Guest guest
My TSH was actually normal the last time I tested, but my FT4 and FT3 have been running at the lowest part of normal for years. I actually doubled the dose my doctor started me on. I think I need to go higher, but I'm waiting for my iron results first because my ferritin runs low. (all other labs are normal though). I'm also having trouble remembering to take my temps to make sure my adrenals are stable enough. I was actually feeling pretty good before I started the iodoral. I wish I was one of those case studies in his book that felt " incredable " in just a day! Labs before NTH or hydrocortisone TSH 1.27 (0.4-4.5) T4 total 5.3 (4.5-12) FT4 0.9 (0.8-1.9) FT3 2.9 (2.3-4.2) T3 total 77 (76-181) thyroglobulin antibodies <20 (<20) thyroid peroxidase antibodies <10 (<35) Thanks for the help!! I see my doctor on Thursday to find out thyroid labs on meds, sex hormone results, and iron labs! Guest guest
Hi mj!Go back to the new member documents you received when you joined, and are sent out every Sunday night. The companion nutrients are all listed there, and it is always a good idea to reread them, especially just after starting on iodine. So many things jump out each time you read them. Guest guest
Donna, I looked through all of the files and I could not find any companion nutrients. There is one file called 15 supplements but there is something different when you click on it. The only thing I found was in the Iodoral protocol which recommends Vit C (2000-5000 mg), Selenium (200-400 mg), unrefined sea salt, and Magnesium (400 mg). ATP coFactors were listed as Optional. I currently do not recieve any emails from this group because I am already getting so many from the NTH and Adrenals group/chat (sometimes over 100 emails a day!). I manually go into this group and check all the messages when I need to. Maybe I will change it so I only get this group and the adrenal group. mj > > > > Are you also taking the companion nutrients? Guest guest
Thanks! I decided not to take the iodoral until I have some days off from work. I feel like I am not taking any HC or NTH. I ran out of sea salt and I am just too exhausted to even stop by the store after work to get more. I'm really surprised how badly this is effecting me. I must be detoxing a lot!! The headache is so bad I just need a break until I can really do the sea salt flush and rest at home. I will also pick up some selenium and get the 50 mg Iodoral.
