Guest guest
Hi, Can we CLEAR THIS UP in simplicity then for ALL on board? In short, we have five forms of iodine (some form of iodine at any rate) from what I can gather: 1. Iodoral 2. Lugol's 3. SSKI 4. Tincture of Iodine 5. Betadine Now, while there may be another Brand Name out there which is essentially Iodoral WITH added B vitamins, etc. - let's just say that the five above forms are IT - unless I stand corrected! That being said, and again, to SIMPLIFY matters for ALL concerned, IS IT TRUE that: ONLY #1 (Iodoral) AND #2 (Lugol's - a water based iodine) are the ONLY TWO SAFE TO ORALLY INGEST? Hopefully, the correct answer here will be of benefit to many here, myself included. Thank you, Trisha > > Hello L.P. > Yes of course it is perfectly fine to ingest Lugol's! Iodoral2. Lugol's3. SSKI4. Tincture of Iodine5. Betadine No this is not correct. There are a few more options. 1. Magnascent (Edgar Cayce)2. Detoxified Iodine3. Iosol4. Pure Encapsulations, Biotics Research and many more have thier own proprietary blends of ioidne / postassium iodide / and other nutrients It isn't as cut and dried as you are trying to make this. Many companies are realizing the need and the opportunity for selling iodine in the market place and they are all trying to distinguish themselves as the best option. Now, while there may be another Brand Name out there which is essentially Iodoral WITH added B vitamins, etc. - let's just say that the five above forms are IT - unless I stand corrected!I think I may understand what you are saying - so no Magnascent and Detoxified are two more forms of iodide only but "electrified" which you will need to read up on www.iodinesource.com is where detoxified is listed. You can google Magnascent to get to their website. Guest guest
Hi Trisha, If you read Commonly Asked Questions in the FILES you would have seen that # 1 is Forms of Iodine ( these are some that can be ingested orally). A lot of work went into creating the New Members doc. which includes the Commonly Asked Questions. If you take the time to read what we have prepared there, it will save you a lot of time and answer many of your questions that you have been posting here. Please do so; read all you can. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your very clear, concise information! Kathleen * ATTENTION STEPHANIE: Re: L.P.'s - Lugol's ingredient question Actually, as the companion documents (drafted to be helpful for all on board) make clear, there are a fair number of iodine formulations, liquid and solid (pill form). The main ingested forms used by people on this board are Lugol's (liquid) and Iodoral (a tablet formulation of Lugol's compound of iodine and potassium iodide). Lugol's can also be applied topically, that is, painted on the skin for a local problem. SSKI is a liquid which can also be taken internally or painted topically, but is not in general use here since it doesn't contain free elemental iodine, only potassium iodide, and this board considers use of both to be optimal. Tinctures of any kind, commercially prepared, are usually made with nonpotable alcohol and are usually labelled as being for topical use ONLY DO NOT INGEST. The alcohol is used only as a solvent; it vaporizes quickly on the skin and vanishes leaving negligible traces which are deemed a non-risk. Since tincture of iodine contains only iodine and not potassium iodine it does not contain the two ingredients the board considers optimal and usually is not considered here. Betadine, povidone iodine, and similar proprietary products are commercial surgical cleaner/skin disinfectants. They contain surfactants and other ingredients, relatively little iodine, a great deal of water, and are essentially useless for our purposes beyond the use for which they are specifically manufactured, at which they are very good. I suggest reading the companion documents, then branching out to the links, etc. -- they're what the board is all about. One last point: Lugol's is called Lugol's not because it's a proprietary name, but because the specific proportions of iodine to potassium iodide and water were formulated by the French chemist Lugol in his reagent work. Anyone can produce that formula; people tend to call it Lugol's for convenience, but that's all it is, is a handle. It's produced in various percentage strengths, so know what you're getting when you go looking for it, or stick with pills, which don't vary.> >> > Hello L.P.> > Yes of course it is perfectly fine to ingest Lugol's! Guest guest
Since I take Lugols, is ONE DROP sufficient? How do you know how much (how many drops ) to take? I just did research on Iodine and chose Lugols. The company I ordered it from did include paperwork on Lugols and how much to take, but I have misplaced it ;-( I can call them though. My question is: Is there a *Standard* dose in regard to taking Iodine orally, specifically Lugols? Thanks to everyone for ALL your knowledge and help :-) L.P. Guest guest
Hello L.P. Read the Commonly Asked Questions in our FILES. #2 talks about dosage. You really need to read the New Member doc., and Commonly Asked Questions. A lot of work has gone into preparing that document. You will learn much there. Read all you can in our files, and then if you still have questions, please ask.
