Guest guest
Any idea what the origin of the pain is? If it is from doing abdominal exercises once your abs get some strength your neck won't bear so much of the load trying to help out. The only way I can think of to stretch your neck is to " roll " it gently. If your upper back is sore, hold your arms out straight, interlace your fingers then turn them inside out and push forward. My traps bear a lot of my emotional/mental stress and I have to reach back and massage them from time to time. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I dunno but I could use some good ones too! Rita Neck Pain Hello All How do you streach you neck and back? What I'm dong at this stage is not working - this leaves me with VERY stiff and sore muscles and a BAD headache most of the day! Being a computer programmer and having to sit on my butt for hours and hours on end, does not help! Any suggestions of good streaches? Thanks

Being a > computer programmer and having to sit on my butt for hours and hours > on end, does not help! > > Any suggestions of good streaches? > > Thanks Here are some basic stretches that my trainer showed me to do to reduce tension in the neck and back. I carry all my emotional/physical stress in my back/shoulders/neck and HATE backrubs and massages (just aren't relaxing to me) so this is what makes me feel better. For the mid/lower back: knee to chest stretches--lie on your back on the floor, knees bent (like you're going to do a crunch) clasp your knee in both hands, bring to your chest and extend your other leg. Switch, then do both knees at the same time. Hold each stretch 5-10 secs. Always end the stretch with your knees bent (takes the stress off the lower back). hamstring stretches--putting your foot up on something and stretching, legs out in front of you while sitting on the floor, etc. cat stretches--start on your hands and knees with the elbows locked, let the back sag into an arch, hold for a few seconds, then press your lower back up (like an angry cat) and hold again for a few seconds. Then sit back on your legs with your arms stretched out in front of you. If you do yoga, it's the cat pose and the child's pose (you could probably find pictures if you search for these two poses). For the neck/shoulders: For all of these the starting position is standing up straight. 1. turn your head as far as possible to the right (slowly, of course), then back to center, then to the left. 2. lower your head and try to touch your chin to your chest. Raise your head to look at the ceiling. 3. raise both of your shoulders up to your ears (shrug them as far as you can). hold for 5 secs, then relax back down. 4. try to touch your left ear to you left shoulder. return to center, then try it on the right. These really help me to do them in the morning and then again at night. If you're sitting all day long, you should really try and focus on having good posture and try and get up every so often and walk around and stretch. Yoga may help too, it's really helped me to focus on proper breathing and posture. Hope you feel better : ) Maggie

Also, what really helps my lower back, is to lay on my stomach on the floor with a pillow under my chest so that my back is stretching backwards. When I read at night I do that and it seems to help quite a bit Serenity
Guest guest
I suffer from lots of neck, face and upper back pain. Here are some stretches I do regularly and it really helps. Neck Sitting indian style, sit up straight, start with right side, try to put your arm straight down with palm on the floor bend your head sideways pulling the right side of your neck. Keep trying to keep your palm on the floor. Count to 12. Then do the other side. Upper back sitting on the floor, bottoms of feet together and pulled in fairly close to your body. round your back, put your elbows under your knees to create resistance and count to 12. YOu should feel the stretch in your upper back between your shoulders. Guest guest
Hi Pam, There's probably an exercise that you're doing that's causing the knee pain, you need to try and figure out which one is bothering you and stop doing it. Which LL tape are you using? The chair exercises on tape 2 hurt my knees, so I don't do them. As for the neck pain. You're probably tensing your neck during the " pah " . Your pah should be like a sigh, you don't even have to verbalize it. Make it soft and gentle. I want you to try something and see if you can learn to relax more while doing your LL's. Lay on the floor with your knees bent and your feet touching the floor. Now close your eyes and do a LL breath. Blow through the golden straw, take in a deep belly breath but don't strain, do it gently...you want your belly to expand during this process. Hold for a count of 3 to 5 then very very gently pah it out quietly....your stomach will deflate at this point. Then hold your breath, flatten your stomach and do the lift. Hold for as long as you can. Try doing them this way for a couple of days without any stretches. Relax, relax, relax, make it gentle and comforting. It shouldn't be forceful at all. Enjoy your LL's. Let me know if this helps at all. My problem is that this really hurts my neck & knees, & I'm not sure why, what I'm doing wrong or how to correct this? I have whiplash from a car accident 5 yrs ago & was hopeful that I could do this program as it said no impact. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
Lori, have you ever thought of going to see a message therapist & /or a well trusted Chiropractor. Our son Landry (3 yrs. old) has alot of neck and back pain, but with these therapies it is keep down to bearable. We take him to our local chiropractor one week and then the next week we go out of town to a peds chiropractor and have alternated like this for over a year. Our Private Duty Nurses daily give him a total body message with a mixture of olive and lavender oils. Tea tree oil is also good for tight/sore muscles. Something else you might want to try is a new supplement that has only been on the market for 2 years called StemEnhance. We started giving it to Landry about one month ago and started seeing improvements within three days in head and arm control, louder cough, sitting up straighter in wheelchair, brighter eyes and appearance which in him means less pain. Everyday we see just a little more than we did the day before and keep being amazed with things he hasn't done since he was a infant. His peds chiropractor is also very impressed with the strength he has gotten in arms and legs within the last month. She is recommending it to some of her other patients. My mother also started it two weeks ago because she has Fibromyalgia and serve arthritis in her knees, she went from taking numerous (she would lost count it was so many) Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen a day down to only one ibuprofen am and pm. The pain would get so bad at times that she was almost ready to go get a prescription from the Dr. but not now. The only way to get it is through a distributor. If interested go to www.blessedx4.com to check it out. We will be thinking of you Joyce Lori <AmourGarden@...> wrote: I developed pretty significant neck (left side) pain on Tuesday morning. Guest guest
The only way to know is to take a few days off and see if it subsides. Are you taking Magnesium, Selenium, Vit C and Unrefined salt? You need these with your iodine. An increased heart rate could signal an adrenal stress. When this happened to me I would just increase my Magnesium, Vit C and Salt and that would take care of it. The product I took was a Vit C/Potassium/Magnesium/Calcium supplement called BalanCe from www.vrp.com I would just take a scoop of this product and it would take care of any heart palps - along with a 1/2 tsp Celtic Salt. If it was really bad I used Biotics Research Cytozyme AD (an adrenal glandular product). Don't panic. Guest guest
Janet, I would advise you to err on the side of caution and go off the iodine for a bit. It's possible that you are detoxing so heavily that your lymph node(s) on the left side (which is the major "dumping area" for the lymphatic system) is overwhelmed. If this is what is happening, it can lead to some serious problems -- as you will see if you read my experience which I think I titled something like "Not Sure What Happened To Me." If that's not the right title, you can probably find it under my name -- West. One of the ways to get the lymphatic system moving and draining is to exercise -- jumping on a trampoline is especially helpful. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. Guest guest
You may want to take one or two more days off to give your body a chance to catch up and get some of the toxins out w/o forcing more. You just have to listen to your body. Many of us have lost or never had this skill. It takes some time to get and then you will feel more comfortable trying things.
