Guest guest
Dear All, Sheila mentioned hair analyses, can anyone tell me if it worked for them, or indeed if somthing else helped, I had severe hair loss untill i saw dr skinner and went on NDT. my hair made a remarkable recovery, but when my gp agreed i was hypothyroid and put me on thyroxine i lost my hair again, Over the years i tried a combination of both and a few years back because i thought it was going off the market i tried t4 alone. i am doing tests when i get back from hoiday( not too sure which ones) .can anyone throw any light on this matter don't no how common hair loss is with all of you. but would be glad to know if anything helped and if so what. Guest guest
I have been having a great deal of hair loss over the last 2 years.  I am sure it is due to thyroid/hormonal issues.   I took Iodoral for 2 years hoping it would help my thyroid and a trickle effect with other hormone issues but it did nothing for my hair loss or my thyroid (except put me in a REALLY high level). Hate to say but my hair is still falling out (I quit taking the Iodoral 3 months ago) and my thyroid is still not balanced. ;(I’m very frustrated and scared that I will lose all my hair. Wish I could be of more help, but this is what I have experienced. Guest guest
I lost a good bit of hair when I took a natural product to lose fat. I’m now going to a holistic dr.. My thyroid has checked ok. He told me that I’m not eating enough protein. So I’m drinking a protein drink no twice a day and I’m having my hormones balanced and he has also had me take Lugol’s iodine. My hair hasn’t been falling out any more and I feel like it’s slowly returning to my head but I have a lot to have return! Blessings, Marsha From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of RobbieSent: Tuesday, January 17, 2012 7:11 PM Subject: RE: Hair Loss I have been having a great deal of hair loss over the last 2 years. If so, have they test better when using the green drinks?I can say not eating gluten and drinking one cup to two cups of licorice tea has helped my energy a lot when I am consistent....I wanted to try green drinks to see if they helped also even not using the tea. Guest guest
Shalom Y'all, Re:hair lossI finished chemo (18 months of it) about 7 1/2 years ago and my hair is very curly - well, what's left of it. I am very thin on the top, even to where you can see my scalp. I've tried mega-doses of biotin over the past year, but honestly, I've not seen any difference (even though some people swear by it for hair regrowth.) I'm now trying using no shampoo and instead I'm using baking soda and organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar to wash and condition my hair. So, in addition to increasing the nutrition from the inside, I think what we put on our hair and head may make a difference. Also, in my case it has to do with genetics as well as age, hormones and thyroid issues. Sometimes, our genetics can call the shots, as we do as nest we can with the cards we're dealt. As an aside, I'm glad your wigs work so well, but I understand wanting to go au natural, as when I was completely bald, I did not use scarves or wigs, but just had my head bare and I admit, I loved it. Guest guest
Hi All,As an African American woman who has been wearing here hair in it's natural state for a number of years I have tried a lot of products on my hair. I would caution against using baking soda as a shampoo because it can cause damage (irritation and even burn) to your scalp. As far as apple cider vinegar goes, you should only use it to remove excess build up and not as a conditioner. I believe in shampooing my hair and scalp but only with mild shampoos (for example Trader Joe's nourish and shine shampoo or other natural shampoos). You should also look at using a good moisturizing conditioner. Now I can't say for certain this will help with preventing hair loss, but I do not believe there will be any damage. Just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth .Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Phone Re: Re: Hair Loss Shalom Y'all, Re:hair lossI finished chemo (18 months of it) about 7 1/2 years ago and my hair is very curly - well, what's left of it. Guest guest
HI , What makes groups like this GREAT is that there is no one right way for everyone. What works for one, may be horrible for another. We each need to do our research and experiment and see what works for us, individually. For me, I did quite a bit of reading about baking soda and organic apple cider vinegar (for over a year!) and I am convinced it is not only safe, but many reputable health sources consider it much safer than using shampoo and or conditioner, even the " natural " kind. I have personally been using it since December and I am very pleased with it. I intend to no longer use shampoo of any kind. Some things that we need to check into are SLS (Sodium Laurl Sulfate) which is present in many, many " natural " products and has been linked to not only hair loss, but health concerns. We absorb through our skin and scalp almost as easily as through our mouths! I encourage everyone to check your products (hair, body, deoderant, toothpaste) to see if it contains SLS and if so, consider changing to something that does not contain it. http://www.naturalnews.com/033932_sodium_lauryl_sulfate_shampoo.htmlAnother concern is parabens. http://www.nyrnaturalnews.com/cancer-2/2012/01/parabens-in-breast-tissue-not-limited-to-women-who-use-deodorant-products/ I also make my own toothpaste and deoderant :-)So, I encourage everyone to do their own research and decide on their own. This group is a wonderful place where we can safely share our ideas and discoveries, but each person is responsible for their own health decisions. -- ~~In Messiah Yeshua,Vickilynn Haycraft, Real Food Living, Examiner.com, Get Real - Get Prepared radio showMicah 6:8http://www.realfoodliving.com http://www.blog.realfoodliving.comhttp://www.examiner.com/housewares-in-national/vickilynn-haycraft http://www.examiner.com/family-preparedness-in-national/vickilynn-haycrafthttp://www.bepreparedradio.com/category/prepper-podcasts-health/get-real-get-prepared/
Guest guest
I also use baking soda as shampoo, toothpaste, and body wash. I have long, thick, very curly hair, and it has done SO much better (softer, lighter, less frizzy) since I have been using baking soda-several years now. I don't bother with a rinse, as a rule. If I do, it is usually a very mild lemon juice solution. It took quite a bit of getting used to when I first switched to baking soda, since it was stripping out the build up of shampoo in my hair. I LOVE the way it cleans my hair and scalp! I also make all of my own personal care products, including hair gel made in the Vttamix from either tapioca, chia, or flax seeds. > > HI , > > What makes groups like this GREAT is that there is no one right way for > everyone. Guest guest
Something else baking soda does so I read....... It kills cancer cells. So how do you get it inside the cell......... you mix it with pure maple syrup. It seems the cell loves sweets, so it sucks up the maple sugar bringing in baking soda killing the cell. Somewhere I have that info on my computer. I don't know how true it is but I was told that it works. Guest guest
Hi Vicki,I couldn't agree with you more. It is very important to learn what works for you, research is key. It is a blessing that God (for those who believe) has made us all different, so we can learn from one another. !!!Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Phone Re: Re: Hair Loss HI , What makes groups like this GREAT is that there is no one right way for everyone.
Guest guest
Once a week I mix baking soda with my shampoo (makes great lather) to clarify my hair of the styling products I use. It works really well and my hair feels squeaky clean afterwards. How do you use just baking soda? Mix some in your palm with some water or do you sprinkle it directly on your hair? RenaIf God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.Happy moments, praise God. Difficult moments, seek God. Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God. Every moment, thank God. Guest guest
Shalom Rena, I take 1 tsp baking soda, place it in a container and add warm shower water. Mix with my finger, and pour some on my hair and scalp. I rub it all over my hair. I pour the rest on and repeat until all gone. I rinse well with warm water, then do the same with organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar. -- ~~In Messiah Yeshua,Vickilynn Haycraft, Real Food Living, Examiner.com, Get Real - Get Prepared radio showMicah 6:8http://www.realfoodliving.com http://www.blog.realfoodliving.comhttp://www.examiner.com/housewares-in-national/vickilynn-haycraft http://www.examiner.com/family-preparedness-in-national/vickilynn-haycrafthttp://www.bepreparedradio.com/category/prepper-podcasts-health/get-real-get-prepared/ On Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 10:04 PM, Rena Glubay <jp17aday@...> wrote: Once a week I mix baking soda with my shampoo (makes great lather) to clarify my hair of the styling products I use. Guest guest
I am highly sensitive to chemicals in commercial stuff, so I just mix up baking soda and water in a BPA free bottle similar to a ketchup bottle, making it into a thick paste. I squeeze a squirt or two around my head, using the tip to get under my thick hair (I wet my hair first), then I just massage it in and rinse well. Super soft hair! I used to pile on all sorts of goop=conditioners, gels, lotions, anti frizz stuff, etc., but realized it was all just expensive chemicals that were keeping me sick. Now I use just the baking soda, and my hair looks better than ever, lol. > > > ** > > > > > > I also use baking soda as shampoo, toothpaste, and body wash. Guest guest
I have had a problem with my thyroid too. I had several symptoms -a sore throat that wouldn't go away and I never got a cold, hair loss, dry skin and cramps in my legs when I exercised sometimes. I had a chinese medicine doctor tell me to take the seaweed fucus for iodine. I first tried dried fucus from the health food store, but it had too much sand and shells even after rinsing, so I resorted to pills and Bladderwrack is fucus. I took one pill every day for 3 months. It brought my thyroid blood levels to almost normal. I now add seaweed to soups regularly and don't take the pills any more. In a couple of months it will be time to get my blood tested again and I feel certain it will be normal. I read that soy products interfere with your thyroid, so I have stopped all soy products too. I am concerned that I have been eating LOTS of crucifers raw every day in my morning smoothie and that it will negatively affect my thyroid. I also eat them cooked in soup for dinner too but that should be OK. I was very interested in reading that one of the posts said that being low in protein can make the thyroid worse. I had been only eating meat occasionally for years, but when I became a total vegan (and cut way down on my protein intake) that is when my thyroid became unbalanced. I never heard that gluten or grains can make the thyroid worse either. January 1st I started a gluten free diet. I will see if this makes a difference in my health. To the question of " has green smoothies helped my thyroid? " I can't say for sure. The bladderwrack pills cut down on my symptoms and my hair grew back in the spring - my symptoms were worse in the winter. Now I am better, I have fewer symptoms than I had and I feel great. I am sure the smoothies are helping my whole body get healthier. Janet

Guest guest
One story I read years ago about nettle, was that the Roman soldiers many hundred years ago brought some with them from Rome to England. They used it the rub on their bodies to keep warm in the winter. Years ago I had some growing wild on the edge of my yard. I never touched it since it was so prickly. I didn't know it was good for anything. at that time. Guest guest
I have lost some hair while taken Idoral; I take 75mg per day, have not had any detox symptoms other than the hair loss. What can be done for this, and does the hair grow back once things level out? Thanks. Bill
