Guest guest
Hi Ken,You must have missed the discussion we just hadabout taking Vitamin C at the same time (or mixed in with)Iodine. wrote to say she took both of them together andwas able to heal from her illness. From: gagokahno <gagokahno@...>iodine Sent: Sat, September 3, 2011 2:28:17 PMSubject: Re: Blood sugar goes up on Iodine. One thing I came across recently is that Vit C can inactivate Iodine. I read also that is why Dr. Abraham used to alternate Vit C on one day and Iodine on the other. We're going to alternate our Vit C on an AM/PM basis. I read that Vit C can be used to remove Lugol's solution stains in clothing, tried it and sure enough, it worked! So, seems to make sense not to take Vit C at the same time as the Iodine. We have taken our Vit C at the same time for years now. I understand it is needed so just need to make a little adjustment. , do you agree? If so, maybe it would be a good addition to the New Members document, which I think it wonderful info btw! Guest guest
Here is the scoop: Vit C converts brown elemental iodiNe into clear potassium iodiDe. So it's not true that Vit C " inactivates " iodine-- it converts one part of Lugol's into another part. While it is true that vit C powder will remove the brown stain from your hands if you get Lugol's on them, it's only because the brown iodine is CONVERTED to the clear potassium iodiDe. There is still iodine on your hands, but it's been converted to the clear kind. The ONLY TIME there is any possibility of this conversion happening inside the body is IF it were possible for Vitamin C and Lugol's to be in the stomach at the same time and interact the same exact way as they do on top of one's skin, or in a glass. People who take IODORAL tablets will NEVER have this concern because the Iodoral does not dissolve until deep in the gut and by that time any potential for interaction is completely over. The idea that you have to take vit c and iodine on separate days is ludicrous, and I don't care whose opinion that is. Dr Abraham is not a proponent of the cutting edge of iodine information. People need Vit C every single day, and we cycle it out of our bodies every 2-3 hours unless we take a form that is longer lasting. Similarly, we need iodine every day. So the idea of taking them on alternate days is not in the best interests of your health. Moreover, it is NOT AT ALL CLEAR that Lugol's and Vit C could or would interact in the stomach because that is not the same environment as a test tube. There is other food, there is stomach acid, we really don't know what happens in there. BUT, if you ARE CONCERNED, simply avoid taking your Lugol's with a concentration of Vit C. Take your Vit C supplements a couple of hours away from the Lugol's. And if you take IODORAL, you have absolutely nothing to be concerned about and you can take your Vit C at the same time as your Iodoral tablets. And please, do not buy into this idea of having to alternate iodine and Vit C each day. THERE IS NO WAY that iodine and Vit C interact once the iodine is in your bloodstream (or the gut). It is only in the presence of CONCENTRATED Vit C that the conversion is even possible, and the ONLY PLACE in the body that could possibly happen is within the stomach, and even that is unproven and possibly not a concern as well. I hope this helps. -- moderator > Hi Ken, > You must have missed the discussion we just had > about taking Vitamin C at the same time (or mixed in with) > Iodine. > wrote to say she took both of them together and > was able to heal from her illness. > > > From: gagokahno <gagokahno@...> > iodine > Sent: Sat, September 3, 2011 2:28:17 PM > Subject: Re: Blood sugar goes up on Iodine. > > > > > One thing I came across recently is that Vit C can inactivate Iodine. > I read also that is why Dr. Abraham used to alternate Vit C on one day > and Iodine on the other.
