Guest guest
Hello Lynn, A few drops of iodine is fine. If they are going to take more, then be sure to tell them about the companion nutrients. I have learned over the years that it is very difficult to make family and friends do things that will make them healthy if they are not really interested. It can be frustrating, I know ; but that's how life is sometimes. Best, Kathleen Lower dose to avoid detox symptoms? If 50 mg. is dose for building up stores and may cause symptoms, would it be okay to give lower dose, say 2 or 3 drops to avoid reactions or, are detox symptoms inevitable?Have given bottles of Lugol's to family and friends I love in hopes that they will take the drops. If they don't feel improvements right away, I'm concerned they will think detox is too much trouble to deal with. These are people who have had fibroids, thyroid, prostate problems, obesity, etc. and (like much of the population) don't think anything is wrong in their bodies because past presenting symptoms were "solved" with hysterectomy, other surgeries, Rx, etc. It's tough to convince some people they need something if they feel well....before the monster strikes.Lower dose for those who may not want to deal with detox symptoms: will it just take longer to come up to optimum levels or be lost in the shuffle? Guest guest
This message prompted me to ask about something I had been wondering for a while - Do you need to take the companion nutrients with whatever dose of iodine you are on? At what dose of iodine do you need to also include the comp nutrients? Regards Pat > > Hello Lynn, > A few drops of iodine is fine. Guest guest
OH so true, My family says they don't want to know if something is wrong. !!! AND they are highly intelligent people with master's degrees, and one is a chemical engineer and one won't listenn to me who has hypo and is on only Synthroid and is still having problems! I don't know why i am diff. and want to get better. Strange, but then i was adopted. LOL. If they would only listen, esp. my father and sis in law! It's aggravating but then again, let them find it all out later on. Can't help those who dont' want help. I gave up on it. The constant asking them to get help. Guest guest
Lynn, Detoxing is the act of your body moving the toxins out of your body. Detox symptoms are problems you may feel when the toxins stay in your body too long. They are not interchangeable terms – just because you don’t experience detox symptoms does not mean you are not detoxifying. When you are on the protocol, one of the reasons is to detoxify the body, but the real goal is to have your pathways open and to get the junk out WITHOUT having detox symptoms. Here is a word picture: We all create garbage in our kitchen, and have a garbage can for it. If we take the garbage out of the house daily, we know we have garbage, but we don’t smell it because we take it out regularly. However, if we were to let the garbage pile up in the kitchen, it would become quite smelly, moldy, maybe attract bugs, and we would certainly be bothered by it. We KNOW we have garbage, but if we take it out regularly, we don’t have any problems from it. The same is what we want to happen with detoxing. The goal is to detox, but get it out of our system QUICKLY through our detox pathways so that we DON”T experience detox symptoms. We don’t need to have detox symptoms to be detoxing, they are a sign we “aren’t taking the garbage out fast enough.” Sometimes we want to push out lots of toxins fast and it just overwhelms the system even if our pathways are working well. That is when some people pulse dose to give the body time to clear out. As to lower doses, any dose is feeding the body and is helpful, but may not be enough to fight the monster. Like food – any food is better than nothing! Also some people’s bodies react more strongly to lower doses as it gets some and searches for more. They actually have less symptoms at higher levels. Everyone is different. Unfortunately, my experience has been that unless people really understand and desire to heal their bodies, they won’t use the protocol. And it is very difficult to watch our family and friends suffer! Keep being a good example of your health, and they might eventually notice. After 3 years, one family member has finally understood the change in my health and is also using the iodine protocol! Hooray! One is better than none! Guest guest
Hi Pat, The companion nutrients are important to the body whether or not we take iodine. So I would say it's good to take them no matter how much iodine one is taking. (I was responding to Lynn's email about her family not really being on board with iodine and her hoping they will take a few drops daily). But again, the companion nutrients can only help one move towards good health.
