Dear Sherry:

There are several treatments for Multiple Myeloma besides Biphosphonates

(Aredia, Clodronate, etc) since 10 years ago we have been working with

Biphosphonates along Biological therapy (mainly for Germany) you can find

more information about this therapies in

www.sdclinic.com

The therapy is applyed in Tijuana Mexico and Germany with exelent results

(of course upon stage of the M.M.).

Dear Rose,

In general with any serious condition we need to get specific, and the only

way to do that is to see a medical practitioner personally. I would

recommend someone in your area with a broad understanding of naturopathy

e.g. homeopathy, ayurveda or Traditional Chinese medicine, etc.. Ayurveda

sees all disease as caused by toxin build up. The trick is what is the cause

of the toxins, how can we remove them, and how can we restore the self

balancing intelligence of the body and its systems at levels? For instance,

toxins could arise from poor digestion of 'food' . Where 'food' is anything

that passes the senses. Quite often the most toxic food is bad emotional

experiences that the person cannot process, this can set up a stress cycle

that results in the release of excess stressor hormones overwhelming the

natural detoxifying capacity of the liver.

Hope these ideas are useful.

A good friend of mine was just diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Does anyone

have any insight on this and recommendations for how to proceed

alternatively? Thanks in advance. Rose

As I've said before, and no doubt will again, I would

recommend this as a minimum:

Flor-Essence Essiac Tea

Vitamin O

1,3 1,6 Beta Glucan " Immutol 425 " - 6 a day

Ozone Sauna - Saul Pressman's equipment.

The first two cured my mother-in-laws lymphoma.

The first three cured an uncles terminal lung cancer.

The last is supposed to be excellent for some cancers.

MM is a serious bone cancer though, and would also

need other things, but the above is a must to start with.

I recommend only the individual products by name because

those are the ones that have worked for us. There is a

lot of junk out there that people are wasting their time on.

Good luck.

Dagmar Burghard

Dagmar tells us that she is still doing well and not

taking any medication.

July 2000

In July of 1992, I was diagnosed with multiple

myeloma. Because I did not want to have chemotherapy

or radiation therapy, I began looking for an

alternative. Fortunately, my neighbor, a former nurse,

came across Dr. Burzynski and his antineoplastons. Not

wanting to rush into unknown treatments, I began to

obtain information about Dr. Burzynski and his

professional background.

I was amazed at Dr. Burzynski's remarkable

achievements and  impressed by his dedication. I knew

I had made the right decision when I chose to go to

Houston to speak with him about his treatment. Dr.

Burzynski was very honest with me. Although he gave me

no guarantees, I decided to give antineoplaston

therapy a try.

I began treatment in September of 1993. By that time,

I had three lesions located in my leg and back. By

February 1995, a bone scan showed that the lesions

were completely gone, and as of this writing they have

not recurred. Thanks to Dr. Burzynski I have no

trouble walking and I am feeling well.

I welcome anyone to call me for more detailed

information. Please call the Burzynski Clinic for my

telephone number.

Gerald,

Your friend has already started the autologous stem cell transplant.

Now is not the time to second guess his choice. You/he could contact me if

things don't work out. There is a trick with multiple myeloma in that

occasionally you can knock it out fast while spending very little money.

A letter written to me some years back by a man who stayed with standard

treatment and died of Prostate Cancer.

***************

Betsy is a friend of ours, in her 70s I suppose. She has multiple myeloma,

a very deadly kind of bone cancer, and is being treated by the same

oncologist I go to.

We saw Betsy a couple weeks ago. She's bright eyed and bushy

tailed...her old self. She mentioned that Dr.----- had recently told her she

was his " miracle patient " .

This spring I had heard about Betsy's situation. It was greatly different

from what it is today. She was extremely sick and unable to eat.

She could only lie in bed and was just wasting away. Her husband, Don,

thought she was dying. He may have been right.

It had taken a long time for her doctors to diagnose an obviously

deteriorating health condition as multiple myeloma, so

that it was quite an advanced case before she was referred to

Dr.-------as I understand it.

I believe she had recently been started on chemotherapy by Dr.--------

a little before I learned what was happening. But no matte how

good his treatment might have been, if she couldn't eat she wasn't

going to get better.

I went down to --------- and bought a pint of Barlean's lignan rich

flaxseed oil, some low-fat cottage cheese, a pineapple and some honey,

and took it over to Don.

Don made Betsy a smoothie, using some of the pineapple to cover

the taste of the oil. A little later I learned that Betsy had called the

smoothie " delicious food " . She could eat it!

Later still, I heard that Betsy likes tuna fish in her flaxseed oil

and cottage cheese smoothies, instead of the pineapple. You can

use anything in the smoothies to make them taste good to

you.

In the meantime, Don had ordered some of the oil direct

from Barlean's.

If you're a cancer patient it's sold to you at wholesale and

costs about half as much as at-------------or other health food

stores, even with the shipping cost.

It wasn't too much longer before Betsy was able to get up and be in a

wheelchair. Soon she was able to stand and get around a little with a

walker.

A month or so ago she went in some cancer event that involved a

3-mile walk. She had intended only to do the first mile but ended

up doin the whole thing! She was back.

Betsy is an avid gardener and has one of the city plots. She had

been able to get the garden planted somehow, with help from

Don, and has been delivering great quantities of produce all

summer. Every now and then Don brings some by for us. He

thinks I saved Betsy's life.

Is Betsy's amazing response to the treatment of this devasting

kind of bone cancer because of the combined benefits of the

flaxseed oil and chemotherapy?

My friend----------

***********************

There is controversy here. I see this as an example of the fact that the

flaxseed oil will be of real benefit even though chemo is being used.

I personally do not know of many , if any, situations where the

continuous use of chemo has resulted in real recovery.

Chemo does kill cancer cells, maybe 9d5 to 98% of them, but does

not kill all of them.

The patient is now in remission but the resistant cells continue to

survive and increase. As the " treatment " is continued, the cancer

cells are not affected, but the good cells of the body and the

immune system, heart, liver, etc. are contuing to be destroyed.

When the patient is aware that the cancer has " returned " a new

chemo must be tried because the old one is no longer effective.

The cycle is again followed and the patient is again in " remission " .

The word " remission " is used because there is no expectation of a cure.

With each new cycle of chemo the patient is increasingly weaker

and less able to fight the invader and death will occur.

The flaxseed oil, with the Omega 3, may be a major help but

cannot do the whole job against the destruction of the chemo.

I do not know the complete details, but I understand that the

chemo was continued and eventually Betsy passed away.

Hi,

One of my wife's younger brother was married to a lady who died in an

auto

accident but who's mother is living and has Multiple Myaloma.

One of our nieces got her on Flaxseed Oil/Cottage Cheese quite a while

ago.

I am not exactly sure of the starting date.

Our niece tells me that her grandmother is doing well. I hope to see

her

later this summer.

Cliff

PS. I was updatead on her situation very recently [Nov 22, 2003] and

she is doing very well in spite of the fact that she is not taking this

material as faithfully as she should.

Dear Hilit buy the book Living proof - A medical mutiny - from

Gearing-Tosh (he cured himself from Multiple myeloma with a natural

approach) and in this book are a lot of recommendations and websiteadresses

etc. for a natural way of treating Multiple myeloma.

Hi Helen,

The story of Gearin-Tosh is an especially inspiring one. In

1994 at age 54, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma [MM], a rare

and very deadly form of cancer of the bone marrow. He was given 6

months to live at the time of diagnosis. He chose to avoid

chemotherapy.

Instead, he researched alternative treatments and decided on a

the Gerson Therapy - drinking many freshly-made vegetable juices a

day, doing daily detoxing coffee enemas, taking supplements and

eating a vegetatian diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. He also

practiced deep breathing to further oxygenate his body's cells, did

visualization and regularly received acupuncture treatments.

He lived an active life and continued working for ELEVEN YEARS after

the diagnosis. He wrote a book about his life entitled, " Living

Proof, A Medical Mutiny " [2002].

In July of 2005, when he died at age 65, it was not from cancer. He

had developed an infection from a tooth and, even though his doctor

recommended antibiotics, he refused to take them. He may have

believed that his regime could overcome the bacteria. However, the

infection became systemic and caused his death.

For more information:

The link below gives information about his death. Also, on this page

Steve,

In addition to the Gerson website, which is an excellent idea, there is a new

book " Never Fear Cancer Again " by Francis, whose own brother survived

" terminal cancer " and lived two more decades (until his 80s) by following his

brother's suggestions about health and natural healing. Be sure to read the

reviews of the book also (2nd link, below). It's a very new book that's been out

less than one month, so there are only just a few reviews posted about it at

Amazon yet.

http://www.amazon.com/Never-Fear-Cancer-Again-Prevent/dp/075731550X/ref=sr_1_1?s\

/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8 & showViewpoints=1

The premise of the book is that there are two basic causes of cancer -

deficiency and toxicity. The book mentions iodine deficiency briefly, but it

doesn't emphasize iodine enough, IMO. Therefore, it would be advantageous for

your friend to follow the New Member Iodine Protocol here in this forum as well.

Iodine deficiency is central as an underlying cause of ALL cancers, not just

thyroid & /or breast cancer.

The concept about the important role of iodine in cancer prevention is explained

clearly in the first chapter of a book by Derry, MD if you have time for

any extra reading on the subject of cancer. It's easy reading and it presents an

extremely fascinating viewpoint about iodine's unique role in evolutionary

biology and why iodine is so central to disease prevention and for optimum

health.
