Guest guest
Why no milk or cheese? -AngieOn Sep 12, 2011, at 12:22 AM, Dr Loretta Lanphier wrote: If it were my daughter, I would suggest a very healthy diet (as close to nature as possible, no fast foods, no prepackaged foods, no sugar especially fructose [corn syrup], may have organic meat that is are not grain-fed) as well as a liver cleanse/support formula as well as a good organic multi-vitamin/mineral complex. This will eventually help to cleanse the liver. No soy, animal milk or cheese and nothing that is packaged in plastics. Don’t eat anything that has been heated in plastic or wrap foods in plastic – in fact, it would be best to not have anything that is in plastic.Check shampoo and personal care products as many of these contain chemicals that contain xeno-estrogens. Eliminate fluoride (toothpaste & water); chlorine, etc. Has she been vaccinated? One site says the following: Vaccinations are high on estrogen antigens, monosodium glutamate, mercury, and aluminum which destroys the biological clock in the hypothalamus region and the pineal gland. Since you already know that she is high in heavy metals which can cause early maturity, doing a heavy metal cleanse is warranted. Chlorella and a good zeolite product would be good choices. Heavy Metal Detox (HMD) is also an effective product. I would also make sure that her circadian rhythm is not being affected by having computer lights, LEDs or night lights on in her bedroom at night. She should have a consistent bedtime and sleep in a dark room. Turn down lights at least 30 minutes before bedtime. We are constantly surrounded by artificial light and personally I believe this is a very real culprit in children’s and adult’s hormone imbalance. And in some neighborhoods there are street lights outside children’s bedrooms that keep their room lit up all night.Good article by Sherrill Sellman with some good guidelines to reduce exposure : http://www.oasisadvancedwellness.com/learning/precocious-puberty.html Weed suggests Vitex (chastetree) in tincture form as it helps to reset the pituitary gland and pineal glands and helps with too much estrogen. About Phytoestrogens: Actually phytoestrogens are not strongly estrogen stimulating. Phytoestrogens are not the same as estrogen. They do not act in the same manner as our body’s own estrogens or like estrogen replacement drugs (ERT). Phytoestrogens are part of the phytohormone class which means they structurally resemble the body’s own estrogen. Their chemical structure is such that it allows them to weakly bind to an estrogen receptor, potentially blocking excess estrogen, or, when estrogen is low, quieting the system’s need for estrogen. However, they are not estrogen. What is most important to understand is that the phytoestrogens used and recommended today in botanical and nutritional medicine do not increase endogenous estrogen production in the body. And there are no studies confirming that phytoestrogens increase the risk for cancer. In fact, new research suggests that phytoestrogens commonly used in nutritional and botanical medicine may protect from breast and other cancers. But with organic you can get hormones too. If the cow providing the milk is pregnant their will be estrogens in the milk. Guest guest
Milk from any animal contains the hormones of that animal. And even organic milk has been questioned as to its hormone content more times than I can remember. The carton will usually say “no hormones added” which does not address the hormones already in the milk. We all know that milk is a huge controversy. We have been told by the media and Dairy Association marketing over and over about how good it is for us and how our children “must” drink it in order to survive. Humans are the only ones that continue to drink milk (and not even from other human’s) after being weaned from the breast. A long time ago when animals were raised on “clean” grass and no antibiotics, etc., the outside hormone load for milk drinkers would not have been much or maybe the only hormones that one would ever get would be through raw milk. Could it be that the good enzymes from the raw milk might help the liver with processing out the bad hormones – especially if one was not on hormone overload to begin with? (I have absolutely no proof this can happen. Sorry for the long sentence.) However, we live in very different times. The body can only take so much hormone overload before symptoms begin to show up. Hormone disruptors are just about in everything because we have become such a “chemical” world. Even with grass fed animals most likely the grass is not clean (even if it is organic) and could actually contain pesticides, herbicides that have been carried by the wind. And then there is toxic rain and/or the condition of the water that is used to water the grass. You had asked in another email about a liver test. The only liver testing I usually look at is through serum and I often wonder if the current ranges are even remotely appropriate. Some practitioners may recommend an Oxidative Stress Analysis but unless there is a good reason to believe there is liver “disease”, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. Low thyroid function is known to be a contributor to impaired liver detoxification which is a big reason why I require detoxing/cleansing before doing any type of protocol -- actually 1-3 cleanses before and then 1-2 during. If a person is having health concerns, I usually assume they have a toxic liver and digestive tract and with many fungus/parasites. We are just exposed to so much toxic junk that it’s a wonder anyone has a liver functioning at a healthy level. In fact, one reason that people will sometimes not get the desired results with a natural health protocol or in using supplements is because they did not take the time to cleanse and detox the liver. It sounds like you are doing a lot of great things for your daughter! Please let us know how everything goes. Guest guest
I was reading an article in the vitamin d council newsletter by Dr. Cannel and he thinks that vitamin D deficiency is driving the early puberty we see these days. Please get her vitamin D level checked. It should be at least over 60 ng/ml. I have to take at least 10,000 IU a day in order to get my levels over 60 ng/ml. If I find the article, I will post it. My doctor says we " ignore vitamin D levels at our peril " You don't know how many people tell me they think their D levels are fine because they drink milk or go out in the sun occasionally. You don't know unless you get a blood test. I just shake my head at this amazing display of ignorance. http://www.vitamindcouncil.org > > I have been dosing my 6, now seven year old with iodoral - for two years now. > Now she is on one iodoral per day. > > I think she is detoxed because I have weened her off 1/4 Naturethroid, > although I have not been able to afford a new/2nd bromide test. > (But she no longer complains of her eyes bothering her.) > (I had done a hormone panel two years ago that said she was Hypo.) > > Well she just started developing a breast bud, a sore, when you touch it, > bump under one of her nipples. > > The acupuncturist said let's wait a week to see if it goes away. > Well it hasn't. > So I took her to a western doctor who said it is precosious puberty! > > I was shocked, and am afraid I have thrown off her hormones with the iodine. > Is there a way to slow down puberty? > She is only 7 and a half! > > Also about a year ago I did an organic acid test for environmental toxins on her which said she was full of plastics, heavy metals & pollution from the air, paint on walls/off gassing & water. > > Since then I now buy reverse osmosis filtered water, but I have not really been detoxing all of this other junk so as to not overwhelm her liver. > But I think I will now because I know plastics make the body think it has excess estrogen. > > Any other ideas? Guest guest
Your swollen ankle could also indicate lymph drainage problems. Guest guest
I have hormone problems and for a while I followed a diet by Neal Barnard in his book Foods That Fight Pain. He explains the rise in hormonal problems and the reasons why high fat foods (even good fats) can contribute to this. I did get some relief by following his recommendations & cutting down on fat. I used to eat lots of avocados & cheese (organic) but when i cut these out it did help. Might not be the solution for everyone as I know that some people thrive on the good fats but it did help me. Anything high in fat now (if I eat a lot of it over time) will trigger hormonal problems for me.ValFrom: Alison Trotta-Marshall <atmarshall1@...>iodine Sent: Tuesday, 13 September 2011, 1:00Subject: Re: Re: Early Puberty at Seven! Guest guest
Thank you.On Sep 12, 2011, at 8:09 PM, Dr Loretta Lanphier wrote: Milk from any animal contains the hormones of that animal. In fact, new research suggests that phytoestrogens commonly used in nutritional and botanical medicine may protect from breast and other cancers.Be Well Dr.L From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of Alison Trotta-Marshall Sent: Sunday, September 11, 2011 10:09 PM iodine Subject: Re: Early Puberty at Seven! Guest guest
Regarding the Metagenics UltraClear cleanse... I've done it more times than I can count, and my husband, who is a chiropractor, uses it frequently with his patients... I highly recommend that you consult a knowledgeable practitioner experienced with this product... It's great, but it does typically include a 3-5 day fast, and I don't know if that's appropriate for a kid... With that said, I certainly don't think it would be harmful... Are you going to do it with the modified elimination diet? Also why after 5pm? You actually might want to spread it throughout the day so the liver gets ongoing support, and she'll probably have to take more than 1 drink a day, even at her age... Hope this helps! Please feel free to email me, if you'd like more personal experience with this... > > As a Mom I would not be worried about iodine and it having a negative effect > on my daughter. Guest guest
Dr Brownstein's TLC is better in my opinion than Metagenics. I switched from Ultra Clear Plus to TLC and did better. I had better luck cleansing my liver and dealing with insulin resistance and RT3 issues. A heads up - Metagenics merged with Amway (Alticor) and I am starting to see hydrogenated oils. They also believe in using soy ingredients in their products. Dr Brownstein's TLC is free of all allergens. www.centerforholisticmedicine.com Pure Zen Health TLC (Total Liver Care). TLC is not gritty like Metagenics and tastes better in my opinion. It is less expensive than Metagenics too which is around $70 / can. TLC is $62 and there are multiple discounts. *Original price for (1) bottle of T.L.C. ( Total Liver Care ) 965 grams is $62.00. *Receive 10% off when you buy (2) @ $55.80 per bottle. A total savings of $12.40. *Receive 15% off when you buy (3) @ $52.70 per bottle. A total savings of $27.90. *Receive 20% off when you buy (4) or more @ $49.60 per bottle. A total savings of $30.40. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I think the UltraCare for Kids is a different product... I think anything you do is going to be positive, but I would suggest that you start there, use the modified elimination diet protocol described in the free book you can order with the UltraClear, and consider working up... There are several protocols... When we do it, we use one of the old protocols which starts with 3 days of 5 drinks a day and nothing else and then continues with a vegetarian version of the modified elimination diet for 4 days, and then incorporates a greater variety of proteins for 2 weeks following... Others use a step protocol where you start with smaller amounts and work up to a fast and then slowly decrease the dosage... Ideally, you should do a PH test to make sure you choose the correct product, although in the past there was only UltraClear and it worked great... Also consider adding AdvaClear... Post back if you have more questions... The best advice is to use your judgment and expect detox symptoms like fatigue, muscle aches and headaches... Good luck!! > > > > > > > > As a Mom I would not be worried about iodine and it having a negative effect > > > > on my daughter. Guest guest
Are you giving her the companion supplements so that the detox pathways are open? Guest guest
I use lecithin made from sunflower seeds. NOW makes it and it's not that expensive, less than $5 from drugstore.com. Peace, Dean > > > > Make sure she stays away from soy. It's in everything. Soy lecithin is in bread and chocolate etc. Read every label. Guest guest
Ultra Care for kids is a meal supplement product not a liver detox product.
