Guest guest
Bonnie, I did a computerized word search of Dr. Abraham's articles and I've found the following quote for you, at the link below (column a, pg.33 - or pg. 17 of 20, depending on how the pages are counted/numbered): http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/pdfs/IOD05.pdf " Orthoiodosupplementation increased urinary excretion of lead, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum, and mercury. Urinary bromide and fluoride levels increased markedly and proportionally to the amount of iodine/iodide ingested. At three tablets a day, urinary fluoride and bromide increased up to 20-fold, although the preloading test levels were not elevated.120 Obesity seems to increase the requirement for iodine/iodide, and this may be due to sequestration of iodine by unsaturated fats. So many factors affect the requirement of iodine/iodide that the best way to assess whole body sufficiency for this element is with the loading test. Guest guest
: Thank you so much for this. I didn't know that Dr. Abraham's articles were stored somewhere. I will save this LINK for further use. I love having information that is easy to find. Is there anymore DATABASES that you are aware of, that can be searched for Iodine info? Guest guest
Bonnie, I've found another better quote about obesity in relation to iodine from one of Dr. Abraham's papers for you. I'll post it below, but first let me try to teach you how to do a computerized word search for yourself because there might be other similar discussions of obesity in his writings, and you might enjoy learning how to search for all of them. 1. First, go to the list of Dr. Abraham's articles on his Optimox website at this link: http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/opt_Research_I.shtml 2. I have already scanned the first 5 articles, so let's start with his 6th publication. Click on it where it says " print document " to open the document. 3. Look up in your toolbar to find the " edit " tab. Click on it to get teh pull-down menu, and then click on the bottom item which says " Find " . A box will open up somewhere near the top of the page, depending on which version (old, new) of Office software you are using. Type the word " obesity " into the query box. 4. Then, click on the little arrow -- or whatever pull-down options you see on the screen, depending upon how new or old your version of Office software is. Choose the one that says " Find Next " (or something similar to that. The one on my screen says: " Find Next in Current PDF. " 5. If the word is used in this document, it will be highlighted. 6. To see if the search term is used elsewhere in the document, repeat step #4 as many tims as necessary until the message box indicated that it is complete. That's all there is to it. 7. Hint: When I searched for obesity, the softward skipped over the word " obese " which appeared in the same paragraph ... " an obese man) subject F) (Figure 2).... So you might want to repeat the process with the word obese instead of obesity. OK, now here's the link to the article plus a copy of the text below the link so that you will know what you are looking for, in case you have any difficulty in finding it yourself. http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/pdfs/IOD06.pdf Using ion-selective electrode measurement, following chromatography on anion-exchange resins,27 serum inorganic iodide levels were measured by the author serially for 24 hours in five normal subjects and one obese man, following a single ingestion of 37.5 mg of iodine/iodide from a tablet form of Lugol solution (three tablets of Iodoral ®).9 Baseline serum iodide levels were below the sensitivity of the assay (0.006 mg/L) in all the subjects tested. There was no significant difference in the levels and pattern of serum levels obtained in three normal women (subjects A, B, C) and two normal men (subjects D and E) (Figure 2). The serum inorganic iodide levels increased rapidly to reach peak levels between 1.4 and 1.8 mg/L at 2-3 hours post ingestion, and decreased afterward. The serum levels were still elevated at 24 hours post ingestion, ranging from 0.3-0.5 mg/L. The serum levels observed in an obese man (subject F) (Figure 2) were much lower and approached baseline by 8 hours post ingestion. Sequestration of iodine by fats may be the explanation for this observation. With selective uptake of iodine, but not iodide by fats, obesity would create a selective iodine deficiency for tissues like the mammary glands possessing a preference for iodine.28,29 Following ingestion of 50 mg (four tablets) of the same preparation in six normal premenopausal subjects, the serum inorganic iodide levels followed the same profile as the one observed in the five normal subjects following ingestion of 37.5 mg elemental iodine but with higher serum levels. The baseline inorganic iodide levels were below the sensitivity of the assay in all six subjects. > > > > Hello: > > > > I read somewhere that a morbidly obese person might need MORE Iodine but I > > forget exactly what that was. > > > > Has anyone read this somewhere? > > > > Thanks, > > Bonnie > > >

Guest guest
Please do be aware that while those papers are in general important information, they do not include the cutting-edge information about the companion nutrients or the dosage levels that have been developed over time with the input of all our members and interactions with healthcare professionals. So while those papers are a start, they may not present the whole story on the protocol as we practice it today. Just a heads up. And , that was very kind of you to take the time, thank you. -- On 5 Sep 2011 at 22:02, Bonnie Cole wrote: > > > > : > > Thank you so much for your generosity, in explaning how to find these > papers. Guest guest
Bonnie, Historically on this forum the Optimox Research papers and www.iodine4health.com are the two websites that (the group owner) has directed people to most frequently. From what I understand the Iodine Protocol (basic dosages, companion nutrients including unrefined salt & salt loading) that is discussed here comes directly from Dr. Brownstein and was used by as a component in her journey to healing from cancer as she discusses on her website about that journey - www.naturalthyroidchoices.com. She has offered in the past, perhaps before you joined the group, that her purpose in owning & moderating this group is to give back. Many of benefitted because of her commitment to sharing this information and her inspiring journey to health! From what I can tell the components of the iodine protocol have not changed from Dr. Brownstein's recommendations but the dosages have always varied due to each individuals health situation as does the potential for detox and that is where this support forum comes in ~ to help people be aware of what is happening when their body receives this important nutrient and how to 'ride the storm' when things start working and the body is getting rid of bromides, heavy metals, pathogens, etc... The research papers on the Optimox site and Dr. Brownstein's protocol that appears to be a product of that research are the most current that can be found on an online search. Dr. Brownstein's books, newsletter and website are a continuation of what he is learning since then. is a patient of and works with Dr. Brownstein so is able to provide this forum with his current thoughts and responses to things such as the Japan nuclear reactor incident. There are other physicians that write about iodine... Dr. & Dr. Sircus are just a couple that get brought up here now and then. Dr. has a very long history with using iodine of various forms and dosages in his practice but this forum mostly sticks to discussing the Iodine Protocol put forth by Dr. Brownstein. Nothing wrong with that! :-) Historically other doctors have used large doses of Lugol's solution, up to 100 to 200 mg per day ~ Dr. Orian Truss and Dr. Max Gerson are just a couple that a person can find information about on the internet. However the recent research (Optimox) showed the need and benefit of what are called 'companion supplements' that is part of Brownstein's protocol. Hope this gives you some more perspective and the opportunity to check out other writings about iodine, while keeping in mind the focus of this forum. > > > > Hello: > > > > I read somewhere that a morbidly obese person might need MORE Iodine but I > > forget exactly what that was. > > > > Has anyone read this somewhere? > > > > Thanks, > > Bonnie > > >

Guest guest
Hi Donna and thanks very much. I am VERY SURPRISED that I have had no detox symptoms as I am SENSITIVE and REACT to so many things. It's like the Calm before the Storm. I keep hoping nothing happens but I should maybe just stay at 50 mg. I just don't know enough about this Iodine and what it can and cannot do. I'm taking everything but still worry. Guest guest
The website, www.iodine4health.com has a lot of stuff on it. Some of it is useful, some of it is not. It was compiled a number of years ago when the iodine protocol was barely beginning to be developed, and any article that discussed iodine was put on that website. But many of the articles are based in the medical fraud about iodine, the lies about iodine, lies that have led to widespread iodine deficiency and corresponding chronic and acute illnesses. So for those of you who are not accustomed to reading scientific articles, you're better off sticking to the material at the www.optimox.com website than trying to delve into the www.iodine4health.com website. But if you do read the articles at iodine4health, just keep in mind at all times that there are articles on that site that are false/incorrect/untrue. -- > > Bonnie, > > Historically on this forum the Optimox Research papers and > www.iodine4health.com are the two websites that (the group > owner) has directed people to most frequently. > > From what I understand the Iodine Protocol (basic dosages, companion > nutrients including unrefined salt & salt loading) that is discussed > here comes directly from Dr. Brownstein and was used by as a > component in her journey to healing from cancer as she discusses on > her website about that journey - www.naturalthyroidchoices.com.
