hi Pam!I'm still working at shrinking a 10 cm (4 inch) fibroid. I had a calcified 7 cm fibroid (calcified after fibroid embolism 10 years ago) that was shrunk by half as of my last ultra sound in June. I believe it is completely gone now as the constant discharge has stopped. I had been on iodine from 25 to 100 mg for 6 months at the last ultrasound. I had been taking Estrosmart (http://www.healthyimmunity.com/products/Estrosmart.asp) for about 5months before beginning iodine. I discontinued it while I deciphered bromine detoxification, thinking perhaps the Estrosmart supplement was causing my symptoms. When I got my last results, showing a larger fibroid I began the Estrosmart again, and also have increased the iodine to 200 mg/ day. I hope to have a positive result when I have another ultrasound sometime in December. The combination of iodine, companion supplements and Estrosmart (4 per day) have nearly normalized my periods, my breasts are pain free and soft; my fibromy symptoms have disappeared and I feel much better than one year ago. I am also doing liver detoxing. I believe I am on the road to eliminating those dang lumps without surgery!Good luck, and check out the Estrosmart, I'm quite sure they help to reduce the excess estrogen in our bodies.Verna Hi all ->> I'm wondering if you know if the iodine protocol is effective for shrinking> uterine fibroids? I am not aware of a specific protocol other than what we advocate here. I removed ovarian cysts by taking 75 mgs of Iodoral and the companion nutrients. Here is a good article that may shed some light on the connection http://www.lewrockwell.com/miller/miller20.html This discusses soaking and painting with iodine but no specific protocol http://www.ehow.com/facts_5018989_benefits-iodine-fibroids.html

Hi Verna! thanks so much for this... It sounds to me like I should be upping

my dose... I have been taking a Metagenics supplement similar to Estrosmart

since January and have done a couple of liver/gallbladder flushes and a liver

cleanse... Unfortunately, I would think my load of xenoestrogens was low from

the start since I don't use products containing them or eat hormone meats or

pesticide vegetables... with that said, I did notice improvement... I think

the problem is metabolic - ie poor estrogen metabolism - which I'm hoping the

iodine helps with... I know for a fact that I'm iodine deficient and have low

T3... According to 2 holistic medical doctors, I'm not a candidate for thyroid

hormone... I'm encouraged to keep it up and perhaps go to 100mg of iodine...

My plan is to wait until December to have another blood test and ultrasound, IF

I'm not pregnant... Thanks!! Pam

Thanks so much for this helpful info! I have been confused whether the fibroid

issue in the breast is the same as in the uterus... It seems from the ehow

article that they are connected... I really appreciate your help! I think I

will up my dose of Iodoral next week after doing another liver/gallbladder

flush... I am planning on having another ultrasound in December IF I'm not

pregnant... to be honest, I doubt that 4 2x2 cm fibroids that are not in the

uterus are the issue... I think hypothyroidism is possibly the source of the

problem... I'm hoping the iodine corrects this, since I am evidently not a

candidate for thyroid hormone because I only have low T3... Thanks so much!

Traditional medicine believes that if someone cannot get pregnant or carry a baby to term that there is an imbalance in the body. The body knows when the environment is right for a healthy child. I would recommend also checking out www.naturallyknockedup.com for information how to eat a nourishing diet for getting pregnant and during pregnancy.

Thanks! I totally agree with that... Unfortunately or fortunately, because I

do all the " right " things and have for years, it's not easy to put a finger on

where the imbalance could be... I'm suspicious that I have subclinical low

thyroid - and that I always have, but I don't know if there are any other

natural treatments other than iodine? Evidently, I'm not a candidate for drugs

(which I'd actually be willing to try in this case) because I only have low

T3...

Hi again Pam

I thought I should mention this website and books available from them:

http://cemcor.ubc.ca/

I recently finished Estrogen's Storm Season, written by Dr. Jerilynn Prior. She

discusses in novel form many findings the University of British Columbia has in

their Centre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research Centre. It may be that

low progesterone and high estrogen is causing both your fibroid and infertility

issues.

Good reading!

I removed ovarian cysts by taking 75 mgs of Iodoral and the companion nutrients.

Thanks Verna!

That's a super helpful website... I was tested repeatedly last year by medical

doctors, and told that I was normal hormonally... and specifically that I did

not have low progesterone, which I thought might be the source of the issue when

I went to the doctor... (They did figure out that there weren't very many sperm

though due to varicoceles, which were surgically removed...) I'm not much for

medical doctors and the whole experience turned into a big mess... I think I

may try the protocol recommended on the Cemcor site with natural progesterone

cream... My instinct is that this will help... My Osteopath Gyno did discover

an iodine deficiency (along with low T3, but low normal free thyroid), but

warned me against taking iodine and encouraged me to eat kelp... This was no

where close to the amount of iodine I've needed... I'm hoping that the iodine

helps my ovaries with normal hormone production... My bet is that there's not a

major off, but a slightly off... (Especially since the fibroids are small 2x3

was the largest, the others were less than 2x2...) Hopefully I'll see results

by the end of the year! Let me know if you have thoughts, ideas or opinions...

I really appreciate you help!

All the best! Pam
