Guest guest
We were taking very small (250 to 400 mcg) kelp for last 3 months but My family and I just started on iodoral about a week ago. We feel good benefits but we all have the following problems: 1. Brain Fog for me and my wife almost all the time for first 5 days now a little better but still comes and goes away during the day. We also get occasional small headaches. We started on 1 iodoral a day (12.5mg) and now taking two (1 am and 1 pm) per day for a total of 25mg/day. 2. Kids only get occasionally brain fog and some weary (heaviness around) eyes. Kids (16 years and 12 years) just take HALF iodoral (6.25 mg) per day. NOTE: We all take vit-C, fish oil, costco Premium Performance multi-vitamin daily with enhanced b-vitamins and selenium 200mcg, and drink a lot of water daily. Please help with the following questions: Q1: Is brain for an iodine detox symptom? Q2: How long does it last? Q3: How can you reduce it? What will increasing or decreasing iodoral dose do to barin for? Q4: Is it ok to give kids 6.25mg? Should we increase it or decrease it? Q5: Is it ok to take vit-C (or juice etc) along with iodoral or do we need few hours gap? Q6: Should we all also take small dose of Magnesium (like 125 mg per day)? Q7: My son and I also sometimes feel frequent urge to urinate but it is getting better every day. Is it normal also? I know these are a lot of questions but please I really need help from your experience and knowledge. Thank you VERY MUCH for the help. Guest guest
Thanks for your response Kathleen. Yes I read the new member QnA and also the book 'Iodine: Why you need it, Why you can't live without it'. I wasn't able to find 'Brain Fog' as one of the iodine related detox symptoms. I am still not sure how long the brain-fog will last. Does it go away after few days? Will it come back again if we increase the iodoral dose? I also didn't know that iodine can cause more/frequent urge to urinate. Regarding MAGNESIUM: we all (including kids) just take about 175 mg, not 400mg. This is because I read that Magnesium as a supplement can cause kidney failure if kidneys are not able to filter it. So still concerned if we should continue taking 175mg or stop it. QnA says all supporting nutrients can be taken at the same time with iodine. But I read that vitamin-C will convert iodine in to iodide, so that why I asked: Is it ok to take vit-C (or juice etc) along with iodoral or do we need few hours gap? Please also advise where can one find the best price on celtic sea salt (local or online)? Thank you very much again. > > Hi RK and welcome! > Have you read the New Member doc. you were sent when you joined? Guest guest
Hi RK, Here is a list of detox symptoms, you will see brain fog is one of them: http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/bromidedetoxsymptomsandstrategies.html Try the salt loading technique and see if that helps your brain fog. It should. If after three days you don't see any change, you can then try pulse dosing the Iodoral, 5 days on, 2 days off for example. You can take Vitamin C with Iodoral as it is in tablet form , enteric coated and does not have contact with the stomach, so the iodine/iodide will not digest while in contact with the Vitamin C. The Iodoral tablet breaks down in the small intestine. However, I have taken Vitamin C with Lugol's solution in the past and do not worry about it; our bodies are smart! I usually get my unrefined Celtic Salt from SelinaNaturally online, however, try googling unrefined Celtic Sea Salt and you will get up various vendors who may be having sales, you never know till you try! If you live near a Whole Foods or other health store, check there too. What kind of Magnesium are you taking? I take Magnesium Orotate (formulated by Dr. Hans Neiper), I take 400 mg daily. If you are concerned about taking magnesium orally, you might want to try Magnesium Oil that is used transdermally . My daughter who had fibromyalgia started iodine, with the companion nutrients, an organic diet and magnesium oil transdermally and found her self free of pain in a couple of months. I know too much calcium is not good for the body, however I personally have not read about a problem with magnesium and kidneys. But I am still learning.
