Yes, Ariel I absolutely know that Lugol's is a combination of the two but that wasn't my question.

What I asked WAS, why do some doctor's like (near Seattle) seem to prefer to use the SSKI? Is it because SSKI (I"m just repeating my question from below) DOES NOT affect the Thyroid as Iodine does?

Please clarify that point for me.

I answered your question already. I would really appreciate it if people

would look for and read all the responses to a question before replying to

any of them. It would save a lot of list traffic if people did so.

The article from about SSKI was written some years ago (Dr.

is amongst those who are pioneers providing information to the public!)

but he must still stand by the contents of the article or I doubt he would keep

it on his site. In some cases articles have been written or statements have

been made where the doctor later changes his views, but cannot retract the

previous information that was out before ~ and this actually has occurred in Dr.

Brownstein's history of thoughts on iodine.

As I read Dr. 's article I do not see anything contrary to current

thoughts about iodine or potassium iodide. That article is just focusing on

SSKI. Perhaps it was written at a time when he began carrying the product and

it was a way to bring people's attention as to ways that they could use the

product.

If you look at Dr. 's archived newsletters or archived radio show you will

see that he frequently discusses Lugol's as well. He uses both products in his

practice and I have seen places where he has recommended Lugol's without even a

mention of SSKI.

Regarding your question of SSKI affecting the thyroid ... the thyroid is one

of the organs that prefers potassium iodide so it very much affects thyroid

function.

This may help:

" Different organs of the body respond to different forms of iodine, for

instance. The thyroid gland primarily utilizes iodide . The breast and prostrate

concentrate iodine. The dermatological system primarily concentrates iodide.

Other organs and tissues, including the kidneys, spleen, liver, blood, salivary

glands and gastro-intestinal tract can

concentrate either form - iodine or iodide. Hence, different tissues responding

to different forms of iodine. "

I think there are times when KI or SSKI alone is a great option to have. In

the event of exposure to high levels of radiation it will protect the thyroid.

It can be used as a disinfectant for drinking water - Lugol's can as well but

SSKI doesn't have as strong as aftertaste and does not have potential for

staining and may be easier to carry around. Liquid Iodine is more sensitive to

evaporation than KI. Etc...

Bonnie,As to why, we can’t say that for sure. Not all doctors believe you need both Iodine and Iodide. And really you WANT a solution to affect the thyroid, so we here believe you need both. I would suggest you search his information for an answer to your question.
