Hi All,

So, had my catch-up with lovely GP after her hols... marched in and told her

that the stand in doctor had told me that as my TSH was 4.6 they would not up my

Levothyroxine and said " I have all this documentation explaining why that TSH is

too high " and she said the other doctor was being ridiculous and she would

certainly up it. LOL, that shut me up as I have to admit I thought I would be

facing a battle!

She explained that, as far as she was concerned, being at the upper limit of

'normal' was not normal at all for a lot of people and she would happily

increase my dosage. I have another blood test booked for 1st November which

will cover TSH, free T4, thyroid antibodies, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, ferritin

and folate - she will also see if she can push through testing for free T3 as

well but isn't confident the practice will sign it off. She also agrees that I

have not been depressed but was temporarily affected by nerves after a bad

assault so is taking me off the anti-depressants as well which she really thinks

will help clear my brain fog and reduce the size of my bottom )

We had a little chat about treatment and she said they only have one other type

of medication they 'usually' prescribe there if the Levothyroxine doesn't work

but that they never actually prescribed it to anyone as they hadn't needed to.

I touched upon natural porcine treatments and she said we'd cross that bridge

when we came to it if the upped dosage of Levothyroxine didn't work.

After reading what some people go through here I am so grateful to have a doctor

who, so far, seems to understand and appears to be open to new information. She

said if I had any concerns to book a phone appointment rather than wait to see

her.

So, fingers crossed, the higher dosage and lack of anti-depressants will be the

key!
