Re: Extreme hair loss

Hello,

Please let me weigh in here. I am 57 and have experienced extreme hair loss myself which is still going on. I take 1,000 mgs chia oil and am wondering if that could be a problem too.

I am also taking cortisol saliva tests today and believe this may show that's what the problem is at least in part. I also need T3 but can't start until adrenals are addressed if need be. I sure wish I'd found thi sgroup earlier since a doc diagnosed me with too much T3 2 years ago but I lost touch with him and couldn't find anyone else to treat me.

I do have some natural oils I use on my forehead that help a little. I see new hair growth there. I got a "recipe" from a newsletter by Dr. Lark who specializes in women's issues. Very inexpensive to make. If anyone is interested please email me offline.

Hi Loren,

So sorry to hear. Just some more suggestions - I lost nearly all my hair but very quickly - over a three week period. It turned out I had hashimoto's and high Reverse T3 and adrenal fatigue but I reversed the hair loss long before I found out what I had and started using thyroid medication.

The two factors that seemed involved in hair loss for me were using cod liver oil or flax seed oil - I ended up with four episodes of hair loss and taking one of these preceded each episode, even though I used good quality cod liver oil on two occasions.

Also, I think gluten may have been a factor.

I have most of my hair back now - definitely enough that it looks quite normal - just missing some along the "sideburn" area where it's still very very sparse and white - but the rest hangs down and covers this up. My hair grew back white but then turned black and is now turning back to the original brown colour.

I hope you find something that works for you.

I have been dealing with severe hair loss for more than 6 years now. I am a 51-year-old woman, and hair loss does not run in my family. It has been falling out, not in clumps but strand by strand, almost continually, and I have lost more than 90% of the total mass. I have been taking Iodoral for several years and it has helped with other issues, but not this. I am also taking nascent iodine and most of the companion nutrients.

I have not had my thyroid checked and can't afford to have any blood work now, but am thinking that I will have it done in the fall (or as soon as I am able). I am opposed to taking Synthroid based on what I have read about it, but am preparing myself for that to be my last option. Or is it? Any ideas out there? I would really like to have my hair back, and keep what I still have....

Loren
