Guest guest
How ignorant, and how alarming that we have practicing endocrinologists who are supposed to know how the metabolism works doesn't even know that T3 is the active thyroid hormone, and that without T3, we die. Considering what you say about him refusing to give you a throat scan, won't test for low magnesium, B12, zinc, copper, cortisol, You need to seriously consider whether you want such a plonker to look after your health. I know that I would run a mile, and thank him very much for exposing to you just how ignorant his knowledge is . Him aiming to get your ferritin levels lower than 25 is going to cause you many, many problems, and some, sorry to say this, but quite frightening problems. This man should not be in practice. How can they say that you are suffering with haemachromatosis with a ferritin level of only 42? And yes, you can discuss self treatment - if there are no doctors knowledgeable enough or willing enough to learn, then face facts, you have absolutely no option but to self treat and self monitor. We will help you all we can. There are many on this forum who have been left in exactly the same situation as you, and got back their health and life by going down this road. It is not illegal to self treat in the UK - and it had better never happen - otherwise, we will all be dead ducks in the water! Luv - Sheila Despite this, doc refuses to let me try adding T3 (says it's used by bodybuilders illegally!), says a throat scan isn't necessary, as he can't see/feel any nodules and won't test for magnesium, B12, zinc, copper, cortisol (says he can see (on the pc screen)I'm not deficient, even though he hasn't tested specifically for those deficiencies. I also told him this (from a medical paper): All he said was the TSH is a bit low, and the others were slightly in the hyper range so I was 'fine'. I CAN get another endo, but I don't really think it'll make any difference. I'm in the Netherlands as you know, and all these things are treated in the hospitals where they'll all be chummy and will close ranks. Anyway...can I talk about self-medicating, or is it a taboo subject (publicly)? So sorry for the lengthy post...thanks for reading (if you did!)
