Morning Anita

Good to see you here. And glad that you were able to get your original labs in the end before starting the T4.

Do you mean that the TSH result on this first test was 10.0 Anita?

Did they do just the one test - the TSH? If there were more it would be useful to know what these were.

You were given 25 MILLIGRAMS not MICROGRAMS as T4 comes in mg only. A different thyroid hormone which I take comes in mcg but it is all v confusing in the beginning. I thought I would never grasp any of it but you will, little by little.

Having already had sight of your 2010 labs did yoiu mean that that 11.4 figure was for your FT4 (Free T4) which I believe is just below range?

And your FT3 levels were midrange at 4.2.

Your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) last year was 3.95.

And you have not had any tests for cholesterol, iron panel etc.

Ferritin should be included in the iron panel I think and this is particularly important as your thyroid hormone (T4) will not work if your ferritin is low/you are anaemic.

What a stupid doctor who says you cannot be referred to an endo because your results are normal. S/he thinks a T4 under the range is normal? Huh!

Not being able to tolerate an increase could be because of low adrenal reserve and I am aware that you are getting the ASI (Adrenal Stress Index) done soon and as the questionnaire indicated moderate adrenal fatigue and moderate severity it is more than likely that you saliva test will reflect something similar.

I think Genova (the lab) may actually mention this but if they don't always fill the morning and bedtime tubes at the times that you normaly rise and go to bed, this is v important as myself and my son used a different lab and they did not mention this.

At that time I was rising about 10 or 11 and haing great insomnia was getting to sleep about 2 am.

Likewise my son (before tx, could not get to sleep till 2 or 3 and then slept in till 10 or 11.

We both got up at 8 am to take the first test and took the midnight one at midnight as instructed and this complete;ly skewed the results as I am sure it did for a lot of people.

But now we are using Genova and they are more more efficient and you can get a discount as member of TPA I believe, others will fill you in on how to go about that I am sure.

Pulse of 44!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG you are barely alive Anita. You poor soul. It should be somewhere in the range of anything from 70 to 90, probab;y about 75 is average(ish) I guess though some are confortable with lower and some with higher.

BUT FORTY FOUR! I have never heard of such a low pulse before.

So your new results come in on Wednesday, not too long to wait and pse post them (with the reference ranges - the numbers in brackets like (2.3 - 7.7).

All will be well soon enough Anita, others will pop up in a moment with more insight and advice. I have never taken the T4 med you are on but plenty others on the list have and they're probably all in the scratchers having a good lie-in LOL

Mo

my itching has increased again and am having to take extra antihistamins. My reading for the adrenal questionaire, was 1.7 which i think means moderate problems, my pulse reading this morning 4.9.10 was 44 per min. I must admit in my aries fashion i went head first into what i thought i should do, so have had blood test cfb including antibodies, iron and cortisol, i get the results on 7.9.10. I was advised by my friend mo who is a member of the group to take things one step at a time, in hindsight i should of listened. with regards anita
