Guest guest
heh, I work late, so I only got off work around 2am in the morning I seem to vaguely remember about your labs now,so I guess you're off the hook! *grins* That's stupid about that Gold Coast rule..are you sure it's 2 dogs of any size ?? Maybe you're just not allowed to have 2 big dogs ? Digger and Elly don't even make up one big size dog together! I'm going rafting July 19th and then horse back riding the next day..should be a great weekend I also don't need to request the 'big' horse anymore, which is cool. *hugs* Anita in Denver > Dont you ever sleep?!?!? Guest guest
Marta, <prepare for a lecture> DRINK PROTIEN DRINKS! All that fluid you are oozing and that is puffing you up is high protein. (according to Dr. Fabio) and your protein requirements are even HIGHER then 85 grams right now. We dont want to compromise your healing!! Even though you feel pretty good ... you have to take good care of yourself dammit Practice good wound care!! (damn doctors make the worst patients!) Wish i lived closer, I'd come over and change your bandages for ya. I've become quite the little expert at it. Dryer you keep things, the less that " T " will open..... Seriously, its worth the extra effort NOW to keep things dry. As you know, things are mucho prone to infection around necrotic skin since the blood supply sucks... and then you add all that wetness on top of it...... Now do your best to keep things dry! </lecture off -- for now <grin>> Glad to hear you are doing well. Saw your pics... hard to see the results with your binder and everything. You do look puffy to me - but that's all normal too. I was a couple inches bigger then what I started after surgery. Know anyone that can do lymphatic massage on you? It really helps that tight feeling and helps get rid of some of the water. Feels marvy too. Specially if you can find a cute guy to do it <grin> Keep us updated.... Guest guest
Anita, It is NOT against the law to NOT vaccinate your child. How can this be ordered? Did you read the quote in the post about the 11 thrown in jail (foreign country) for refusing to have their children vaxxed for polio? When I had to go to court to get my dd back from my parents (they had temporary custody but were trying to make it permanent) they brough this up (she's unvaxxed). The judge said " Unfortunately, that's not against the law .. This was, oh,15 years ago in a small county but the principle is still the same. There should be a good antivax lawter somewhere in NY that can help you. Contact the NYVIC (you'll ahve to do a search as I don't have their site stored). Guest guest
Laurie I'm still waiting for info on your post to Anita. In the meantime, I thought I would comment on what you said. I don't think they call vaccinations compulsory and mandatory for no reason. Law is a synonym for mandate. You are required, not suggested to, but mandated to vax your children BEFORE they enter school. I was nervous the first time I had to use my religious exemption so I called the NYS Vaccination Program in Albany. I was lucky enough to speak with the Director. He was more agreeable than I anticipated. I asked him if there was an official exemption form; he said no. I told him that a friend of mine was unable to register her unvaxed children without an exemption. What I didn't tell him was that her husband is a chiropractor and had a neurologist friend of his write a bogus medical exemption (which the school accepted more readily than a religious one). Mr. went on to explain that there MUST be an exemption on file at the school for auditting purposes and if I had trouble with mine; I could give him a call. She was up against the public school system; I was not. In 1987, a famous N.Y. case was ruled by Judge Wexler. Two families were using religious exemptions in the same (I believe) school district and they were both contested by the district. These families had to prove that their life-styles and histories jibed with their 'religious beliefs'. One family made it and the other was MANDATED to vax their children in order to attend school. Granted that was eighteen years ago, but to my knowledge, you can't just stroll into a school with your unvaxed children and expect them to attend without some sort of LEGAL exemption. It sounds like you had an especially liberal judge in your case OR your daughter was of pre-school age which WOULD in fact be legal. Was she under 5yrs? By the way, yes; our state does have good attorneys to defend our rights regarding vaccinations. Thanks, Anita BirthWarrior <llandes1@...> wrote: Anita, It is NOT against the law to NOT vaccinate your child. How can this be ordered? Guest guest
She was just over 2 at the time so that may have been an issue. Still, it is NOT against the law NOT to vax BUT if one uses a school system (private or public) the the vaxxes ARE required UNLESS there is an exemption. So, if one homeschools and never vaxxes, they are NOT breaking the law. And from what I understand from the NYVIC site, they are no longer allowed to question one's religious beliefs. I'm imagining every school district has their own Board of Health one can go to and get a copy of the exemption form if the school does not have one. I have considered making phony vax records for all my children and having dh validate them...it would be so much simpler;however, I want to let others know I put my money where my mouth is and not show fear. Guest guest
Laurie, It is better to fight the beast straight on than allow it to compromise your values and put you in a more dangerous position (as would happen for falsifying records). As for obtaining an exemption form; that is not necessary. A simple written statement would suffice though the form does look more official. I have a great looking one written by an attorney that was given to me by a chiropractor I used long ago. You are right about not having to vax a homeschooled child until the day comes you want to send them to camp or some other private function that requires them. I got my son into cub-scout camp using the xemp.form, but they did have the power to deny him or give me a terribly hard time if they wanted to. I have been very lucky so far and I wish you the same for the sake of your children. Anita BirthWarrior <llandes1@...> wrote: She was just over 2 at the time so that may have been an issue. Guest guest
Anita, I know you will be in good hands with Dr. Richter. He is one of the top doctors in the world for performing dilatations, and he would have been my first choice if I was on the east coast. I was very scared to have a dilatation, but ended up finding there was nothing to be afraid of. I didn't perforate and there was no pain involved except for a very slight discomfort for about a day afterwards...I just wish it would have been successful. They used the middle sized dilator on me and I could go back in for the next size larger, but I think I might wait awhile. I wish you great success! Let us know how it goes! Guest guest
Thanks, My daughter should get home tomorrow. We just got home yesterday ourselves. She is still pretty weak and not eating too much. She was on a lot of morphine and made her feel real nausious. It is such a releif to get home to her. We got off the plane and went straight to her. The reception staff we not going to let me to start as it was not visiting hours. I sucked it in- it was the last straw. Pointed out she is a junior and has gone through all this without her parents and we have been away for surgery as well and I pretty much wanted to see her. When the nurse came out she was so wonderful and took us straight through, she was expecting us and knew Tamara needed us. I don't get ruffled much but I was so exhausted I would have been if I couldn't see her. My Mother and Sister have been so great looking after both my girls in our absence, it has been tough on the whole family, but what would we do without them, eh? My knee is doing pretty good. I now have 95deg already. I can feel it has elasticity and is trying to go further, whereas before it did not. Thw swelling is coming down. I now have to do my physio 3-5 times a day for it and see the physiotherapist 3 times a week. These next weeks are crucial to get it moving. The doctor drey more blood out of it yesterday and put a cortisone in and it is so much better for it today. I can walk with a little more ease. Dr Bessell is really happy with the myotomy result. He said I was one of the more worse A cases he has seen, but surgery went to plan. Just got to try to take it easy now a recover. My fmaily are glad the worst is behind us and thank you all for you kind words and thought. > > I'm so happy that your surgery was a success. Guest guest
Hello and Thankyou. Every day is getter better. I am moving around much better and can get some jobs done around the house. Little by little. My daughter is improving each day. She is stress that she is behind in her schoool work but that can not be helped. She will start addressing that from home this week. It is a busy time of year with exams soon. She is preparing for the big year 12 next year. I am getting less spasms which is so great. After surgery they were out of control. I am eating good. I am starting to feel that I am getting my life back and that is a wonderful feeling. Prior to surgery it was a matter of just coping with each day. Thankyou for you thoughts. > > I'm so glad you are home and feeling better. I hope your daughter is > feeling better. How great that your mother and sister were there for > your daughter. Guest guest
I live in Brighton and work at U of M Hospital. What a small world, Nostrant is my doc for the last almost six years. I've been pretty happy with him but haven't been able to really get a definitive diagnosis as to the motility disorder. I belive the surgery he was talking about is called the Stretta procedure. It's very non-invasive, requires no cutting, and is done through the esophagoscope. From what I understand, they cauterize the area around your lower esophageal sphincter. In fact, this procedure is why I contacted Dr. Nostrant in the first place. I heard about it on the news and they gave his name as one of the few surgeons who was performing it. However, becuase of my other problems (bloating, motility) I was not a good candidate for it. For someone who suffers only from GERD, I believe it would be a very good procedure. I like nostrant, but am frustrated with no definite diagnosis re: the motility disorder. All he's ever diagnosed me with is GERD. I read on the board that someone was given Zelnorm, and Dr. N did prescribe that for me, becuase he thought it could help with the motility, spasms (which I do have if I forgot to mention that) and even the bloating by moving things along better. However, since I have a problem with loose bowels off and on (ever since I had my gallbladder out), I was afraid to try it, because one of the side effects can be diarrhea. However, after reading that someone else felt much better after taking it, I just may give it a try. Hope some of my info is helpful. Keep me posted on your progress. Even if it does at first cause this problem, it may be worth trying longer. The body has ways to adjust to changes in what we eat, and that includes medication. So, often these kind of side effects are only until you adjust to the change. There are no guarantees, but don't give up too soon. notan
