Guest guest
Hi thank you for accepting me onto this forum. I am 34 weeks pregnant with TSH levels improving by the week (1.17 down from 3.6) so I shouldn't necessarily be complaining! I have been on levothyroxine since I was able to be tested and diagnosed following a severe untreated hyperthyroid experience that escalated into a psychotic episode weeks after my daughter was born 5 years ago. Afterwards hypothyroidism set in and I began on 25mcg and am now on 150mcg levothyroxine (and still usually feel and look tired most of the time). The midwives referred me to an obstetrician in May this year because of my history; I finally got a meeting with him for the first time yesterday (after insisting that I would wait all day for him if necessary). I explained what had happened to me 5 years ago and that my concerns now are that I continue to receive support and be monitored regularly after the baby is born.....he insisted that I do not need to see an endocrinologist and that he would be willing to see me 2 weeks after I deliver. Earlier in the month I was able to see a new registrar in the same antenatal department who wrote a letter to the endocrinologist (I have a copy) but I have not heard back - it's been over a month. The obstetrician said I would have to contact this person myself if I wished to follow it up. So I've decided to write a letter. Could anyone give me any pointers as to what I should include in this letter to the endocrinologist? There seems to be certain words that get their attention. I feel like I'm on the brink of getting to see the right person, I just want to get it right so I can put into place as many safeguards as I can for the next few months. many thanks Sophie
Guest guest
Hi sophie i've spent 8 years on levo and never ever got really well, so after pinning an endocrinologist down i'm on T3 and really starting to look like a normal person again, All i did was outlined from when i believed the symptoms started , how its been affecting me , what i hoped to gain from the appointment and what tests i wanted doing, i worded it as if i wanted to rule it out before i believed the m.e diagnosis, so they had a good history and knew where i was at, with an extra diagnosis of m.e/fibromyalgia of which i never believed in. You are going to need for them to help you so you can enjoy your family, i've missed out on mine growing up for 8 years because the only place that was good for me was bed. When my TSH was down to 1.0 i still felt deathly, so you can complain at the TSH level if you feel rough . I really hope you get the help you deserve. love Sha xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > > Hi > > thank you for accepting me onto this forum. > >
