Guest guest
Hi Margaret: Yes, sleep problems hit all at once, when you least expect them :0) It has to do with so many different hormones, etc., or can be adrenal issues and worry. There are a couple of products I like, the one that seems to help most people is this one: http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-True-Calm-90-Capsules/841?at=0 YOu can scroll down and read the reviews and the ingredients. Basically this promotes serotonin and dopamine levels to calm the system so it can relax and naturally fall asleep. You can also take this with melatonin. It's a gentle relaxing feeling. If you are really over tired and need the sleep, take one about dinner time and then again an hour before bed. It's worth a shot. It seems to work better than any of the others. I take it every night before bed. Cheers, JOT
Guest guest
Getting the wrong sort of sleep Margaret and you need to get back into your good sleeping pattern. if this was me I would try 3mgs Melatonin. You take it half an hour before you go to bed and you should drop off to sleep very naturally, waking very refreshed the following morning. However, you must have total darkness in your bedroom, without any street lights pouring through the window so find your thickest curtains. You can buy slow release Melatonin very cheaply from Biovea in the UK. Luv - Sheila I wonder if anybody else is having the sleeping problems that have suddenly hit me? I have NEVER had problems sleeping but oh am I having them now. I take ages to get to sleep and then can awaken and be awake for 2 hours or so. I wake up more than once too. I have bought Valerian but so far it hasn't done anything. Trouble is that as I am a worrier I find that when I awaken in the night all my anxieties are a hunded times worse and go round an round in my head. Guest guest
Hi Thanks for the information. I most definitely see 3 am and it can differ. Last night I saw 3am, 4am and 5.40... I don't think it was a full moon last night! I don't have aspartame - at least as far as I know. I don't eat processed foods if I can help it and have sugar if I have the craving for it. I shall keep a food diary. All I can say now is that going to bed is not as nice as it used to be as I have the fear of waking up and tossing/turning for ages. What shall I do re. parasites if I have them? Guest guest
Hi JOT, Thanks for this. I will try along with the Melatonin Sheila recommends. I am taking St 's Wort with 5HTP too. Going to bed is becoming an ordeal now as I dread waking up and the anxiety I then have! I will hopefully see my GP now she is back from sick leave (the other GP I saw was reluctant to change my medication etc.) and she can do more tests as my thyroid tests seem to be OK now and I don't have the thyroid symptoms - still have some signs but they could be adrenal (hair loss). Thanks again and will let you know how I get on. Guest guest
Hi Thanks for the help. I DO need it! I am taking 5HTP as it is with the St 's Wort I am on. You would think that I would be so tired considering I am lacking so much sleep but I am not. Weird. If I had the choice of having to sleep a lot or not being able to sleep I know what I would go for! Will let you know how I get on. Margaret > > Have you tried 5-htp? Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thanks for the information Sheila. I have ordered the Malatonin from Biova. I already have 5HTP in with my St 's Wort. True Calm looks very good too so if one doesn't work I am sure the other will. Our bedroom is quite dark but can wear those blindfolds that we have had on long flights. I shall get some sleep one way or another! Thanks again, Margaret > > Getting the wrong sort of sleep Margaret and you need to get back into your > good sleeping pattern. if this was me I would try 3mgs Melatonin. > > Luv - Sheila > > > > I wonder if anybody else is having the sleeping problems that have suddenly > hit me? Guest guest
and have you googled progesterone deficiency to see if it fits? http://www.endo-society.org/media/ENDO-10/research/Progesteroneimprovessleepinpo\ stmenopausalwomen.cfm do you have progesterone deficiency symptoms Progesterone My breasts are large My close friends complain I'm nervous and agitated I feel anxious I sleep lightly and restlessly Pre-menopausal & HRT menopausal women: My breasts are swollen and tender or painful before my period …and my lower belly is swollen… …and I'm irritable and aggressive… …and I lose my self-control… I have heavy periods… and they are contineously painful
Guest guest
LOL, you can take the true calm with melatonin...they just enhance each other...I do it every night and I'm still here. Take one about dinner time when you know you are in for the night and are getting ready to calm down the body and take another an hour before bedtime. How about dreaming? says that if you can't remember your dreams, you have a B6 deficiency... Make sure you have a good B complex which includes all the b vitamins... http://www.iherb.com/Jarrow-Formulas-B-Right-100-Capsules/110?at=0 And I read every night before I go to sleep and this helps me fall off easily. (got a good thyroid book? Ha Ha) Cheers, JOT > Just don't make the mistake of using them all at once Margaret *grin* - we > would miss you if you weren't around¬! Guest guest
With a non medical view, I too am someone who does not sleep that much, seemingly best on 5/6 hours a night in the summer, more in the winter - and believe me I have tried to sleep more to help my adrenals. I have come to the conclusion that I just have to enjoy the extra time being given to me every day. When in bed, I use positive thought to help my healing and breathing exercises to help my wellbeing/relaxation/aid more sleep (and... if hubs is on the sofa then I enjoy a crossword!!) Otherwise I just try to listen to my body and when it needs sleep then that happens. Worry certainly never helps. Enjoy your waking in the wee small hours and try a personal mantra like " I am happy, I am healthy " which is mine but you can me more specific if you prefer. Guest guest
Hi Margaret: We do however, have a full moon tonight. It's the biggest full moon of the year because it is also our HARVEST MOON. It came a bit early this year. It is also in the sign Pisces which rules dreams..... As far as the parasite infection, the easiest way to get rid of them along with all sorts of other ailments is WOO. I shall be careful. Shall I stop taking the St 's Wort +5HTP whilst taking Melatonin do you think? I tend to take the SJW in the morning though. Progesterone deficiency could be a problem here too perhaps. I did post my results recently but was not given the range or what they were measured in. Hoping to see GP tomorrow and get sorted with that as the stand in was reluctant to change or add to my medications. Will let you know how I get on. I daresay I will be offered sleeping tablets which I shall of course refuse as I want to find out the root cause not just stick an elastoplast on it! Bye for now Margaret > > Just don't make the mistake of using them all at once Margaret *grin* - we > would miss you if you weren't around¬! > > Luv - Sheila >
Guest guest
Hi JOT, I will see how I get on with one tab and then add if needed. Of course it could possibly be progesterone deficiency as I recently had this tested and I think it was on the low side. I did not put the two things together as my main concern is my hair thinning! I had the sex hormones tested recently and will see GP tomorrow if I can get in. She has been off for about 3 months and therefore has many more wanting to see her this week. I take Vit B complex tabs. I do find it difficult getting all these supplements in as we have to leave 4 hours after taking levo. I don't remember dreaming, never mind the dream! I remember 3 am 4am... Thanks for all the information. Bye for now Margaret > > LOL, you can take the true calm with melatonin...they just enhance each other...I do it every night and I'm still here. Guest guest
Hi JOT Thanks again. Where is the best place to buy the WOO, do you know? Even though we may have had a full moon last night I didn't dream (that I can recall) and I was awake at 3 am ish. Bye for now Margaret > > Hi Margaret: > > As far as the parasite infection, the easiest way to get rid of them along with all sorts of other ailments is WOO. Guest guest
Hi Thank you so much for all your help here and I think perhaps you may have hit the nail on the head. Could be progesterone deficiency as I have had it tested recently and I am sure I was told it was a bit low. However, I am having to wait for my usual GP to return (which she now has) before being given any different medication. I was at the time more concerned re. my thinning hair and was wanting my testosterone testing. Now that I have the insomnia thrown in too it is a different ball game! I don't have sleep apnea. Thanks again, Margaret > and have you googled progesterone deficiency to see if it fits? > > http://www.endo-society.org/media/ENDO-10/research/Progesteroneimprovessleepinpo\ stmenopausalwomen.cfm >
Guest guest
Hi Margaret have you done the hertoghe questionnaire in the files? thyroid treatment/files/MEDICAL%20QUES\ TIONNAIRES/ i think these hormones have to be balanced i've read that with these things, bioidentical is the best... but we know that on this forum, i suppose :-) chris > > Hi > > Thank you so much for all your help here and I think perhaps you may have hit the nail on the head. Guest guest
I believe the least expensive route is to go through iherb.com if you're not in the states... They ship fast and it's the only WOO I recommend because it is the only one which works. http://www.iherb.com/North-American-Herb-Spice-Co-Oreganol-P73-Super-Strength-60\ -Softgels/7712?at=0 Cheers, JOT
Guest guest
Hi Margaret: Our sexual hormones start draining out of us around age 25, so it is certainly hormones one way or the other. I take bioidentical hormones and still have some sleep troubles, but the other supplements help as well. It's always a mixture :0) Remember that if you start on progesterone, you must come off it one week during the month to give your body a break.
