Hi all,

Anyone else finding it difficult to stomach the comments left regarding this article?

Along the lines of "I have this condition, take a pill everyday and feel fine."

Why,oh why do others feel the need to be so smug and self-assured? Can they not consider that others with thyroid disease are not feeling absolutely fine?

I find it very hard to bear indeed.

If you take a pill and feel alright, then how are you to know there are others who are still suffering.   I was perfectly OK on thyroxine alone for about 12 years.    My sisters were also taking thyroxine and they were fine too.

It was only when I started to feel so ill that I investigated and searched and joined thyroid groups. And, if he is telling his story, and taking that thyroxine has made him feel better, then that is how he will to tell it.  It is his experience he is talking about nobody else's.

Hi Lilian,

I would like have to thought that rigorous campaigning by organisations such as Thyroid UK and Thyroid Patient Advocacy, not to mention numerous articles in magazines and newspapers that the message would have got out. That many are still suffering symptoms despite being treated with thyroxine.

Not sure the "he" that you are referring to.I noticed many comments of a similar nature saying that Thyoid Disease was no big deal and easy to treat etc.I happen to disagree, thats all.I don't think I could ever be so closet-minded as to think that just because I may well whilst suffering from a condition, the next person should be too.Atlas, it appears many do think like that unfortunately.

What's the betting that Professor Weetman wrote that…..?????

or another member of the British Thyroid Association.

I think I will write my story about my road to recovery and send

that to the Editor of the Mail on Sunday - just to show the other horrendous side

of what some of us have/had to suffer.

Luv - Sheila
