Laurie,

Licorice is known to be very estrogenic and can cause excessive bleeding --or even spotting in post menopausal women. If your hormones are not balanced with enough progesterone licorice will make estrogen dominance worse and you will gain weight.

If you're looking for adrenal support I suggest using other means such as pantothenic acid or low dose cortisone. Find a practitioner who understands these strategies.

Have you tried natural progesterone? Progesterone works in conecert with iodine to keep the estrogen receptors from getting too greedy.

Good luck,

Lynne

Hi--I have been on the protocol for at least 6 months now and also taking adrenal glandular and licorice root. I have not been able to take more than 12 drops of the 2.5% lugols because my body just aches terribly. I am taking at least 1/2 teas. of celtic sea salt daily as well.I am 46 years old and my periods are just horrendous---very heavy and painful, especially starting all of these supplements. I am also gaining weight, especially in the mid-section.I am very frustrated and not sure what to do. I have not had labs in a long time and don't even know who to go to, most doctors around here are very conservative. Thanks,Laurie

Wow---I wish I knew that before taking it! I guess I didn't research it as well

as I should, thank you so much for letting me know this about the licorice. I

will stop it right away.

How much pantothenic acid would you take? Also, can I get the natural

progesterone without a prescription? If so, what would you suggest?

Thank you for your input!!

Magnesium, and lots of it, will help. Take it to bowel tolerance. I'd also get

the sex hormones checked, progesterone deficiency most likely.
