Guest guest
I recently posted with a flare up of an inflamed multi nodular goitre and had an iodine and bromide loading test to check out my status. I've been taking 50 mg/daily of iodine since August 09. My iodine saturation is 82L exactly the same as my previous test which was taken a month after I started dosing! My bromide seems really high at 22.32H. I will be talking to Dr Flechas soon, and expect to be taking my iodine much higher to increase the bromide detox but wanted some feedback before the conversation. I'm feeling really disappointed that I'm in the same place regarding the detox. Are there any others who have experienced the same problem? What does it mean? I'm taking mg, vit c, selenium, atp factors. Do I need to up these or just the iodine? Many thanks
Guest guest
Though you didn't mention unrefined salt as a part of your regimen I am thinking you are probably taking it daily??? Chloride in the form of unrefined sea salt is a significant factor in displacing bromides (because of their atomic weights). If the focus is on reducing bromides I would think that increasing salt intake would be an important consideration. > > I recently posted with a flare up of an inflamed multi nodular goitre and had an iodine and bromide loading test to check out my status. > > I've been taking 50 mg/daily of iodine since August 09. Guest guest
The same dose for three years seems to me to be the problem.I don't know the entire scientific explanation, but what I have learned hereis that you are supposed to continually increase your dose of iodine(for me it is a 12.5 monthly increase) because the dose of 50mg has at some pointpushed out all the bromide it can, and to push out more you need moreiodine. This group encourages folks to keep upping the dose.I began three years ago at 12.5 mg and now I am at 14 iodoral(with six per day on weekends), or 175 mg.I have not done an iodine or bromide test since the beginning of my journey(iodine was in the 90's and my bromide was 19) but I do know that I have twenty fewer symptoms and I feel a lot better.I also know I am getting better because I have gradually decreased mydesiccated thyroid hormone, Naturethroid, starting at 3 grains and now at 1/2 a grain.I hope that helps. And salt helps too.If your pee is cloudy, that is bromide.Best,AliOn Jul 23, 2011, at 2:46 PM, baxrox wrote: Though you didn't mention unrefined salt as a part of your regimen I am thinking you are probably taking it daily??? Guest guest
an AliI think we all know people who don't want to know and it is so STRANGE that they don't. I just talked to a loved one today and she told me her frustration with doctors, but she would not come into just one simple suggestion I made to her that would be effortless and reap huge results. Not that iodine would not fit that category, too, but since I am just starting, there is a whole new world for me to see yet.We still hung up as laughing friends, tho. We agree to disagree. So getting to my point. About dosing.... I am trying to kill parasites and that is how I came onto iodine. Two months ago, a Massage therapist/Neurolink practioner that I called wanted to spare me a long drive and a visit and told me to take 5 drops of iodine a day for two weeks and then drop down to just 2. After 3 weeks of this and no results, I tried to contact that therapist again. I emailed him and waited a few days then I called him and there is still no word from him. He is not an MD. He is a massage therapist and Neurolink practitioner who, by his own admission, is very knowledgeable about parasites. But I suppose he is not really knowledgeable about iodine, and that is probably why he hasn't called me back. So I increased it on my own to 1 dropper, three times a day. Someone on here yesterday was alarmed that I was taking that much, and said that was why my teeth are stained. But that is really only 3 mg at best. I see Ali is taking a whole lot more than that, and she says this list encourages increased dosing.I have alot to learn to get up to speed on using iodine. I never used it before. I am not all the way through the FAQ page yet, and haven't started the links on that page. Will I find the information I seek somewhere in that document? If I am wasting my time and my Iosol by taking just 3 scant mgs a day when I should be taking so much more for results, I want to find this out as quickly as I can. I've already wasted two months.By the way, since I started doing right by my minerals since my dose last night, my teeth are noticably clearing up and I really believe my body even knows what to do with that mess now because some of my nails grew since this morning and I had to trim them just a bit ago so they don't break and so they look better along with my shorter ones that haven't grown. These are some GOOOD minerals. I just started taking them last Sat. Tho I was doing it wrong, I didn't waste too much time with them.Thank you for your help.Lyn From: ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...>I live that everyday. Guest guest
Lyn, Each drop of Iosol has 1.8mg of iodine in it, so 2 drops a day equals 3.2mg, so the math you've typed in doesn't add up if you're taking a dropperful 3x day. Not that it isn't ok to take that much, but I think you may be taking more than you are thinking. Can you clarify how much you're taking? Iosol has less iodine in it, it is therefore more expensive to take as you increase your dose. So you'll want to buy Lugol's or Iodoral next time. Plus, the makers and sellers of Iosol tell lies about Lugol's that are harmful to the iodine cause. I'm glad you're feeling better and seeing results. Lugol's can stain teeth too, if put in the mouth directly. I take mine in juice. wishing you well. -- At 09:33 PM 7/23/2011, you wrote: > an Ali > >I think we all know people who don't want to know and it is so STRANGE >that they don't. Not that it isn't ok to take that much, but I think you may be taking more than you are thinking. Can you clarify how much you'retaking?<OK, I did not know how to measure it figuring in according to strength. Plus I did not know what strength Iosol is. The clerk at the health food store evidently didn't know that either because she didn't ask what kind I was taking and what strength it is, or density, or whatever the term is.Neither did the therapist who told me to start taking it explain anything like this to me. This is all so new to me. I have much to learn! So I was taking, Hmmm, I don't know how to figure that out. One draw on the dropper holds about 1/.4 t of liquid. I need alot of help. Guest guest
My brain is clearing up about this. Ok. I take 36 milligrams per dropper because each dropper is 20 drops. SO 1.8 mg x 20 = 36 mgBut another group I am on, the Crock-Lakhovsky group, when I asked how to measure drops to mgs, I got three responses back that said you cannot measure a drop. That droppers vary. (I am making a poor, readers digest version explanation of what they all said in very much educated detail.) So I got really confused about this subject I knew nothing about. From: B <vbaker@...>iodine Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2011 5:59 AMSubject: Re: Re: Iodine loading results Lyn, Each drop of Iosol has 1.8mg of iodine in it, so 2 drops a day equals 3.2mg, so the math you've typed in doesn't add up if you're taking a dropperful 3x day. Guest guest
They are right. All droppers are different and it depends on how you hold the dropper as to how large a drop is. That is why the pill form of Iodoral is nice. You know the dosage. Plus liquid forms will lose potency over time. Guest guest
How is my liver? (Following up from loading results with no change) I have certainly been suspicious of my liver function and been active investigating. I'm wondering whether I should do a gentle liver cleanse protocol. Can anyone recommend one? I've seen the one on the iodine files. Anyone done it? What about Ultraclear Plus? From an eastern perspective my liver has stagnant chi. I am taking herbs to support and acupuncture and treating candida with sanum remedies, probiotics and diet. Moving towards mainstream, I had a detoxigenomic liver profile done at genova diagnostics; it showed up issues in phase 1 & 2 :methylation, acetylation, glutathione and oxidative protection polymorphisms. I take Thorne's methylguard, basic detox nutrients, nac. From a mainstream perspective - it has never come up. Though I am a two year breast cancer survivor, multi nodular goitre/thyroid issues, menopausal issues. - I was interested in your comment about chelating. Did you do this orally or via IV? I'm pretty maxed out financially on all this support so it is unlikely I could jump at this. Guest guest
I used DMSA and some other supplements like Chlorella, Mercurius Viv and Oregano Oil. It was all oral since I lived 2 1/2 hours from my doctor. It worked well for me. Buist, ND HC Re: Iodine loading results How is my liver? Guest guest
I don't remember exactly. Maybe 1-2 years. Yes they were all removed before I did it. Guest guest
Correction to my earlier post today. I guess I really am detoxing! I'm so excited! After much thought and reflection this week, I finally put two and two together today and went back to the archives and found this and it reaffirmed it for me. My pee is often cloudy since I started taking three 36 mg doses of Iosol. YAY!! I guess it all boils down to this fact, that I am surprised that I don't have detox symptoms. I suppose that this is possibly because I have detoxed so much in the last three years that now that I am newly starting Iosol, the bromide is not hindered from being excreted and so it passes quietly. If anyone has anything to input here, I am all ears. Cuz I really don't know this world of iodine yet. But I am pleased! I'll be reading more on the site. Cuz I am very happy that I have cloudy pee! Guest guest
I'm pleased to know that, too. Tho I was all geared up for more detox symptoms. Guest guest
I am scheduled to see a Urologist on Monday for scoping of my bladder. He wants to look then possibly head to surgery to where he's talked of scraping my bladder, filling it with radiation. What someone here was describing here of cloudy urine, mine has a strong odor that doesn't smell of urine! I can't describe the smell but it's a strong one. How much iodine would be good for me with bladder carcinoma? Would you do the biopsy or let it alone because of seeding? Anyone had know about bladder cancer? Also, what to do for parasites?
