Guest guest
Hi there- We are new to the group. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on about thyroid problems/iodine for several years now. Here is my issue. I will start with my son who is now 5 and I finally found out he had Hypothyroidism at 2 1/2- his bloodwork was really bad & we went through several doctors trying to get it " right " . He took Iodoral as well as a very low dose compounded Thyroxine. He has continued to have many symptoms through the years, although his " bloodwork " looks OK at this point. We then fond out he has Hash. in 12/10-this was after doing Iodine (using Iodoral) & meds. My daughter is 3 years old & I did not necessarily suspect thyroid with her, but the same doctor that checked my son's antibodies in 12/10 checked hers & it was the same? We did a urine Iodine test through doctor's data in 4/11. My son's looked good, but my daughter's was low. I am interested in doing the loading test, but my daughter is not fully potty trained so I am not sure how to do it. We are at a loss on where to go from here. I can not seem to find a doctor nearby (we live in Georgia) who has a clue how to help me. I need some help as I do not know how to do this totally by myself. Both kids are diagnosed on the Autism spectrum & have had some bad gut issues. We are addressing the gut through diet thus far & they are doing pretty well with food, but I just don't know what to do? ANy advice/recommendations for kids this age? Anyone know a good Doc. near me? Thanks so very much in advance for responding
