Guest guest
Hello everyone This morning I got the results of my lasted blood tests, well partially. I had TSH and fT4 done, and antibodies, but they aren't back yet. The results I do have are as follows: TSH 25/07/11: 4.65 (0.4 - 4.5) fT4 25/07/11: 13.4 (12-22) Anti-TPO and Tg: not in yet TSH 02/06/11: 5.46 (0.4 - 4.5) fT4 02/06/11: 12.8 (12-22) Prolactin 02/06/11: 854 (<540) Other sex hormones were 'normal', don't have those Ultrasound negative for PCOS MRI scan of pituitary: waiting for results, will get on 02/08 Older: TSH August 2010: 3.05 TSH Dec 2008: 2.8 TSH 2007+2007: ~2 My GP today said " Oh good, things have improved, I'd class those latest results as normal. " I was speechless with anger (this was on the phone). I am not on any treatment whatsoever for thyroid despite having felt at deaths door for months/years now. When I asked why was my TSH still higher than it was some years ago, the GP just said, well it went down again this time for that's the main thing. What sort of answer is that? I suffer with terrible insomnia. I haven't been able to consistently take sleeping pills because the GP also won't give me a continuous supply, but because i've had such a rough time lately, and my veins keep collapsing so it took several trips to get enough blood out of me for testing anyway, I took what pills I had left continuously for several days before the latest blood tests just to stand a chance of being in a good enough state to get some blood out. I think my general lack of sleep (2-3 hours per night max) is contributing to my poor thyroid function, and poor everything else function. Has anyone got any experience with using melatonin? What is it like and what are the side effects? I have an endo appointment on Tuesday, mainly to get the results of the MRI and discuss the prolactin issue which seems to have caused my periods to stop (i'm 28). Although I think this issue is thyroid related also. What on earth should I do about eveything else? Hoping the antibodies results will be helpful, but they may not be back. I want to ask questions about my increasing TSH and what can be done about it. I can't really afford to see Dr P so may need to self treat, in which case i'd love some advice please. I'll try to ask the Endo for adrenal function tests, for what use they are. I have started taking the various vits and minerals etc but not NAX or glandulars yet.
