Organic mattresses without flame retardants are quite easy to find though not

cheap. A bigger challenge is finding couches, chairs, and other furniture. Not

only the fabrics, but also the polyurethane foam commonly used in cushions, are

treated as well. Other than an organic futon couch (to me, unacceptably

uncomfortable) or custom-made organic couch or chair (extremely expensive), I've

had trouble finding a good solution. What I don't know is how much such

furniture contributes to my bromine burden and therefore how much it's worth

worrying about. I don't know that such knowledge exists at the moment. It's

important, however.
