Guest guest
Hi, I'm seeing my GP tomorrow and may ask for a referral to Dr S as I live near to where he practices. Only thing is, I did the adrenal fatigue test last week - haven't had results back yet but I strongly suspect I have it. Does Dr S treat adrenals? Also, I'm aware he had a hearing recently, is he still practicing at the moment? Little history - been taking T4 from February but am no better, still feeling very very ill indeed, esp tight chested and breathless. Recently took T3 for a few weeks alongside the T4 but actually felt worse. Have been taking all the recommended vitamins and minerals since 3 months. Any help and advice greatly appreciated Jess
Guest guest
Jess, yes, Dr Skinner attended a hearing at the GMC to see whether they would lift the restrictions or not that had been placed on his practice for the past 3 year i.e. one being having to have a GP referral for patients to see him, but because the GMC had had to sack their so called 'expert witness' before the hearing and had not had time to employ another one, the hearing was adjourned for the next three months, and this will now take place in November, so yes, the restrictions are still in place. You will have to get a referral to see him by your GP but he is still practicing. As for adrenals, if your result shows that you have 's disease or Cushing's syndrome, the two extremes of the level of cortisol secretion, these would naturally be treated. However, the NHS do not recognise low adrenal reserve (or adrenal fatigue) - these are the levels leading up to 's or Cushing's for some reason and some doctors believe that getting the thyroid replacement right will eventually take care of low adrenal reserve, and I believe Dr Skinner is one of the latter - so treatment is often left up to each individual patient. If you are suffering, you may be best to follow Dr Peatfield's http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/thyroid_adrenal_dysfunction.pdf protocol and start to supplement your ailing adrenals by starting a course of Nutri Adrenal Extra which are tablets made up of various vitamins and minerals designed to boost adrenal function. You can buy these at 33% discount as you are a member of TPA from Nutri Ltd. Go to this forum web site http://health.group./group/thyroid treatment and click on FILES in the Menu and in the list that opens, scroll down to 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' Folder. On that page, scroll down to Nutri Ltd and order from there quoting the reference number given.
