Guest guest
Hi Jot, I will continue with the 27mg chelated iron tabs for now & just flex when I am taking them to see if this improves my levels. Inccidentally....I am currently taking 3 x 27mg daily...do you think this is too much? I'm not experiencing constipation as long as I take between 3-4G Vit C daily..... Thanks for the tip off with the Spirulina....I've ordered it from iherb.com ;o) As far as omega oils are concerned, I currently taking 3 x Udos 3-6-9 capsules daily (with food) & I also take 1 tbsp Flax seed Oil & 1 tbsp unrefined cold pressed organic sunflower oil (drizzled on food just before I eat). I use virgin coconut oil for cooking (also used it smeared on my belly when I was pregnant btw.......not one stretch mark as a result!)....but I don't take any coconut oil in capsule form...The coconut capsules on iherb.com suggest taking 4 capsules per day.....is this what you would also recommend? Thanks, Kerry P.S. I've started taking my iron & Vit C in the food gaps like we discussed from today so let's see how I get on.....) What about omega 3 oils and coconut oils? http://www.iherb.com/Emerald-Laboratories-Extra-Virgin-Pure-Natural-Coconut-Oil-120-Softgels/5727?at=
Guest guest
Hi Kerry: It sounds like you have everything covered quite well. If you use coconut oil for cooking, than you're most likely getting enough....I take coconut capsules 2 or 3 every other day. I also do one month of Flax oil (capsules) and then the next month omega 3 (extra virgin wild salmon oil) ........I just alternate months. I like this new product by New Chapter: (you can read the ingredients if you scroll down) http://www.iherb.com/New-Chapter-Wholemega-Cardio-Extra-Virgin-Wild-Salmon-Oil-6\ 0-Softgels/35429?at=0 They're a bit pricey as all New Chapter products are, but there's nothing better than New Chapter. Coconut oil is just fabulous for stretch marks, etc. as you say. I like to use it in my bath water and also rub it into my feet to moisturize them...helps with rough heels.... The great thing about iron bisglycinate (from Suzie Cohen's book, Drug Muggers) is that your body will only take as much iron from the capsules as it needs. So if you are taking 4 tablets and your body only needs 3 1/2 tablets, the rest of the iron releases through the urine. It doesn't hang around in the body. So the concern of taking too much iron is gone. This is a great thing in my opinion. If your iron levels are very very low it is not unusual for Drs to tell you to take up to 200 mgs a day. At the same time, you don't want to waste the iron tablets. You can up the amount to maybe 135 mgs a day and see how you feel. Do it for a couple weeks and see if you feel OK or if there is any change. When is your next ferritin/serum iron test? If it doesn't agree with you then back off a bit. And remember that ferritin levels should be at 110 (optimal) for women and up to 130 if you're still experiencing menses. For decades it has been reported that ferritin levels should be 70-90 but this is incorrect. You will start to feel pretty good at 70-90 but this is not optimal. Broda is the guy who correctly stated this info many moons ago, but somewhere along the line, his advice was ignored. (I am hopelessly in love with Broda and we share the same birthday :0) Cheers, JOT Hi Jot, > > I will continue with the 27mg chelated iron tabs for now & just flex > *when*I am taking them to see if this improves my levels. > Inccidentally....I am > currently taking 3 x 27mg daily...do you think this is too much? Guest guest
Hi JOT, I find it fascinating how everyone is so different! I take my vitamin C throughout the morning & afternoon as I find it stimulating. If I take it at night then it keeps me awake and I have vivid dreams. I like the little " lift " that the vit C gives me in the day. x > > This is something I like to do because Vitamin C for me, also has a relaxing quality to it. I have a special thing I do at night which gets me to sleep every night... > > Cheers, > JOT >
Guest guest
Thanks for that. I didn't realise helicobacter pylori could be present with no symptoms. When I go back to see my gastroenterologist I will check if I have been tested for this. I hope your daughter sees a good improvement after treatment for this. Best wishes, x > > Just to jump in here cos I saw the words 'stubbornly low ferritin' - my > daughter who is hypo and has been unable to even maintain her ferritin levels > has just been diagnosed with helicobacter pylori which apparently stops its > absorption amongst other things. . . . >
Guest guest
Wow thank you Sheila, you have just made me very happy as I love leafy greens and have been really missing them! I did used to eat a lot of these raw (in juices, salads etc.) so I will make sure these are eaten well steamed now! Thanks again, x > > As far as I am aware yes. It is the heat that kills goitrogens. Guest guest
Hi Jot, That's put my worries to rest about over-dosing on iron tablets, thank you. What clever stuff it is! I will try upping the dosage as you suggest & see how I feel. Interestingly, I've noticed since I've started taking the iron in-between meals that I seem to be able to now tolerate 4G of Vit C daily (was previously alternating between 3G & 4G as of loose bowel issues). I know its only early days but it does suggest that the iron is being better absorbed enabling me to tolerate higher doses of Vit C..... I will experiment a bit, raise my iron in-take & see if I can get my Vit C dosage up to 5G daily, will be very interesting.... I was thinking of having my next ferritin check around Christmas time....not sure if you think this is too far away but wanted to give things a good chance to bed down & build up before re-checking them. Thanks again with all your help on this iron business & I'm so glad you are in love with Broda . It must be hugely significant that you share the same birthday....I reckon you probably have rights that you need to look into. Part of the steering committee for the research foundation or someone to ensure his best photo's are displayed in the foyer at the very least. ;o) Kerry x The great thing about iron bisglycinate is that your body will only take as much iron from the capsules as it needs. Guest guest
Hi Kerry I hope you don't mind me jumping in? I have been struggling to increase my iron levels for the past 18 months, I think, and have been taking 5 or 6 tablets of Iron Bisglycinate for approx 6/8 months. My levels are increasing but it is really slow. I've been advised to get my iron levels checked every 4-6 weeks so I'm doing that, and I ask my GP for an Iron Studies test as well as Ferritin as this has a bit more information in it (Serum Iron, etc). I personally wouldn't wait till Christmas, I'd think about going every couple of months at the longest. I also find it gives me hope to see the iron increasing (and you know that the iron you are taking is working for you). Hope this helps Liesha > I was thinking of having my next ferritin check around Christmas time....not sure if you think this is too far away but wanted to give things a good chance to bed down & build up before re-checking them. Guest guest
Hi Kerry: It takes 90 days to grow new red blood cells, so I wouldn't bother going in to get your levels checked again for at least 3 months. Personally, I don't see the point in going in any sooner. Pulling on roots won't make anything grow faster :0) I would however, say a short mantra before I pop the pill in my mouth. (I hear you are probably already doing something like this) Hold the iron tablet up and say *Thank you for raising my ferritin levels* and then swallow it.... It's just some extra added help from the universe. Like blowing out birthday candles and making a wish...Same thing :0) My mentor once told me: *the Universe will give you anything you want. The hard part is knowing what it IS, that you want.* LOL Cheers, JOT > That's put my worries to rest about over-dosing on iron tablets, thank you. > What clever stuff it is! Guest guest
Hi Leisha, Yes, from reading your mail & some others over the past few months I'm beginning to realise that i'm going to have to be patient as this could take quite some time.....Oh well, all we can do is do everything we possibly can to get the levels up & even just by doing that, it will make me feel better in the knowledge I'm being as proactive as possible & that has to have health benefits. The rest is up to the universe I guess but I'm certainly going to be asking for its help with the mantra Jot suggested. ) I hope you are starting to get somewhere with your efforts & starting to feel the benefit. Guest guest
Hi Jot, Brilliant. I will get my levels checked before Christmas as planned. Will let you know what the result is. Will be doing the mantra with immediate effect, I have a funny feeling that this is going to work! Guest guest
Hi Kerry: I meant to add this about vinegar and growing red blood cells before, but wanted to find the words Dr Jarvis used...here they are: " I wrote a doctor friend who as a hobby raises turkeys about my experience in adding apple cider vinegar to the drinking water of chickens. He became interested and decided to add the vinegar to the drinking water of his turkeys. Later he reported to me the following observations: When these turkeys were slaughtered and served as food the meat was found to be unusually tender. When the bones of a newly slaughtered turkey were broken, it was found that the bone marrow showed an increased redness, indicating a better formation of red blood cells needed by the blood. " He basically is saying that vinegar is excellent to supplement with also to help grow new red blood cells. He was always big on vinegar and honey, iodine, etc. He was my kind of guy. So, if you can incorporate a good homemade salad dressing in your diet with vinegar, this will and should help those red blood cells to flourish. I personally make a balsamic vineragarette which I use every day..... Cheers, JOT
Guest guest
So, perhaps we should put both the vinegar and unrefined salt that we our body needs into the cabbage water and drink that first thing - what wonderful healthy specimens we are all going to be. Guest guest
Hi Jot, Thanks for the below info....AND......its early days yet as I've only taken the cider vinegar with dinner & breakfast since your email...BUT...I think the burning might be starting to subside!!! ) I actually slept last night so thank you! x Hopefully, continuing to keep my urine alkaline & taking D-Mannose intensively for the next few days will clear any low grade infection (which isn't picked up by labs) & the burning will completely go away. I girl can hope anyway ) Is it OK to take cider vinegar regularly every day in water do you think? Or perhaps if & when the burning disappears I can just ensure I get some in my daily diet through salads etc? Actually people who take iodine drops should mix it in water with vinegar and drink it down every morning. Because of the chemical reaction of vinegar and iodine, this is supposed to be the best way to take iodine, as far as Dr Jarvis says....he was a very good chemist. I often take vinegar in water with one meal during the fall/winter months to make sure my body is balanced so I won't catch a cold. As soon as anyone feels that touch of a cold coming on, immediately take vinegar in water to bring the acid/alkaline back into balance. He also recommends vinegar for sleep problems, so I'm glad you got some sleep last night !!!! Cheers, JOT > Is it OK to take cider vinegar regularly every day in water do you think?
