Guest guest
Hi Annie, it is also important to check your levels of specific minerals and supplements to see whether any of these are low in the reference range. These are ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin, D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Ask your GP to check these for you because if any of them are low in the range, no amount of thyroid hormone is able to be properly absorbed in the cells in the body and brain, where it does it's job. If you check in our FILOES section (see thyroid treatment then on the list that opens, scroll down to the folder entitled 'TESTS' and open the document entitled 'Low Mineral and Vitamins and the Thyroid Connection'. Copy out the references there to show your GP if he tries to tell you there is no connection. Doctors, I am finding, seem only interested in saving their surgery money these days to the detriment of their treating their patients as they should. You should have stopped your thyroxine when you started taking NDT for 7 days to help boost your adrenals and started T4 on the 8th day. How much NDT are you taking. You should increase this by one tablet every 10 to 14 days until you find the dose your body requires. If you are still suffering with symptoms when you have got up to 6 tablets daily (if you find you need this much) then it is likely you have a worse adrenal problem that you originally expected and you should get properly tested to see if you are suffering with 's Disease, in which case, you will need a short course of HC. Whilst in the FILES SECTION check out the Adrenal Folder and read the document about the Thyroid/Adrenal connection. In the 'All Natural Thyroid Extract' Folder, read the document entitled 'How to Treat with NDT and read it well, so you thoroughly understand about how to start using it. When I started taking Armour Thyroid, my hormone specialist had me stop the L-thyroxine one day, and the following day, I started with half a grain (30mgs Armour) for 7 days, which was increased by another half tablet and I stayed on that dose for 4 weeks and increased again according to what is written in the Files. We are all different so you have to find what works best for you. Luv - Sheila I am so fed up of feeling the way I am and not getting anywhere with NHS doctors and endo's, so I have ordered Nature Throid from America, it should arrive in 2 weeks times. Any tips on starting this would be appreciated. I am going to have a 24 hour adrenal stress index test done, because I have read it is important to check adrenal sufficiency first. I am currently taking 175mcg Thyroxine, but don't feel the benefit. Should I take a reduced dose of Thyroxine when I start the Nature Throid? _,_._,___
Guest guest
Hi Anni, as you are getting the adrenal test done you need to get them strong again if needed. then after this is done taking support for the adrenals you need to wait a while , how long depends on theirhealth. if no problems then stop the levo and start the natural thyroid at 1/2 a grain= which is 60mcg. then stay on this for 2 weeks, if feeling ok then increase by another 1/2, wait for 4 weeks and if still okthen go up another 1/2 grain this will then be 1 and 1/2 grains. stay on this for a while to find the right dose. you may find that this is to much , you will no when this happens as you feel a bit jittery.if this happens then drop a 1/2 grain and see if this helps the symptoms. any questions then post how you are and we will help you. all the best angel.
