Guest guest
Just thought I would share with you my experience yesterday of asking my GP to send me details of my blood tests by post. I asked and the secretary said 'Can I ask what you need them for?' My reply ' Because they are my blood tests and I monitor my levels over time'. She replied 'Ok, well it will need to be cleared with the GP!' I could not believe it. Emma x
Guest guest
Don't worry Emma - telephone today and ask them to give you immediate access as you want these results now. NO DOCTOR OR RECEPTIONIST CAN WITHHOLD ANY OF THE INFORMATION THAT IS IN YOUR MEDICAL NOTES under the Data Protection Act 1998. You do not have to give them any reason why you need such information if you don't wish to. The GP has NO say over whether or not you can have access to these. However, they could insist on you writing a formal letter of request asking for these, but that would be a bit petty for just blood test results.
